Long story short, paid a lot of money for food that wasn't that great and gave me food poisoning.

Walked in with a few friends expecting to have a good meal and quickly became disappointed! To start with "what's good" we'll I can say the fried rice is "good" and if you add the steamed shrimp you'll have yourself a nice shrimp fried rice meal to sit or go. The fried chicken is fair to eat and so is the coconut shrimp. Now onto "what's bad", the orange chicken is one of the, if not the worst interpretations of orange chicken. The sauce to the "sweet in sour" is more on the sour side and almost taste like fried banana chips and the chicken was too crispy for liking. The chicken on the stick was extremely dry. One friend stated "the crab legs are below mediocre" which I was looking forward to the most & another friend stated "this place should be closed". There was season fried shrimp that I was expecting to enjoy but quickly noticed that they haven't been deveined. The haddock fish had no flavoring but was crisp, the noodles weren't dry but surly needed some type of sauce or oil base to make them somewhat worth eating . My family and I went here on a Sunday, late afternoon. We were starving. None of us had eaten for the day. We walked in and it was extremely muggy. It smelled like I just entered an indoor pool area. Not a big deal. I looked at the buffet, it was a reasonable size, but not a super buffet, which was also okay. Crab Rangoon and lo mein are usual favorites, I disliked both, but my husband felt they were okay. I had 2 plates, I maybe finished half of each, it sounds like I'm really picky but I promise I'm not. I just want tasty food. The green beans were awesome though. The service was good too, took our dirty plates and did refills in a timely manner. Sadly, we won't be back, this was our first time there. Thinking about coming here? Don't. Keep on driving. Initially walked in and got a weird vibe with the decor. The fake alligators in the pond will throw you for a loop. The ceiling is patched together with stucco and drop ceiling. As for the food it is a health department nightmare! I had to choose which food I thought wouldn't get me the most sick. We notified both the waitress who appeared to think we were lying. Despite the fact it was easily verifiable. OK, sure, I admit that it's a cool concept, go in and eat as much seafood and hearfood and feelfood as you want, but the food quality here, as with many Chinese or Mongolian or Taiwanese or Western Samoan buffets, is very low quality. The cool thing (and the reason for 2 instead of 1 stars) is that you can get food freshly cooked for you if you choose the ingredients and take it to the chef. The main problem though is not the lack of taste or freshness. It's the fact that I always seem to get an upset tummy after eating here. Let's get this one straight up front for all my Crab Eatin Readers. They "have" crab sure but they don't like to share them. There was none in the bin when we walked through to our seats. We waited.....half hour later this place drops six, count 'em 6, crabs legs in the bin and doesn't refill again for another 30 minutes. They charge extra if you eat even one leg. So they're playing games with the crab here. They don't refill so you can't get much and then nail you extra if you manage to swindle a leg or two out of them. Our bill was over $90 for four people. So if you want to be crabby here's your spot but if you want to actually eat crab, go elsewhere. Don't bother coming here if it's crab you're after. You're going to get JIPPED. Although you might get away with free crabs from the bathroom if you're feeling froggy. What a swamp. If you're still not convinced to avoid this place maybe I can describe the other menu options they're throwing in the garbage bins along side spoons and tongs. Bins which I should add aren't heated very well because nothing was hot. I've had better Chinese food from my local grocery store "international cuisine corner". You know the one where they probably cook up all the about-to- expire frozen crap from the freezer section and sell it as freshly made. This fried shrimp, cold, soggy and the shrimp was mush. The fried and saucy chicken dishes were all chewy and cold. Beef and broccoli was mystery meat and almost raw broccoli in sauce and the chicken and broccoli was the same. Decided to go simple. Have some crab Rangoon. I figure it's the only crab I was getting. Not bad. Honestly the best thing they serve and that really isn't saying much. I wasn't even going to risk sickness from eating any of the other shell fish. I figure if the quality of the other dishes was that low.....I'm guessing their mussels and clam dishes were pulled from a chum bucket off the docks of Lake Erie. When I finally did my couple of crab legs (having won the battle royale between all the other customers waiting for crabs to arrive) they were soggy, limp and mostly mushy inside. Oh, don't ask for crab crackers either. Better learn the fork technique for cracking these babies. They're not going to make it easy for you to crack crab here. I've been going to Zhang's since it didn't hurt when I'd wake up and jump out of bed. Now ... I more or less roll ... The very first thing you notice is how clean it is. You can tell that some of the booths have seen many butts and better days, but none of them are ripped or torn or patched up with duct tape. The food is always fresh and hot and there's always plenty. They offer Pepsi products (And you know Pepsi products always add extra points with me), and their tea is some of the best tea I've ever had. We've really only ever gone on Fridays, so I can't speak on other days, but they serve crab legs on Fridays so the price is a little more. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. I've never waited for a refill and dirty plates never sit on the table for more than 30 seconds. Being regulars, we've developed a very nice rapport with all the staff. One of the waitresses always gives me different kinds of Chinese candy when we go. They may not have as many options as other buffets but what they do have is plenty and incredibly tasty. read more

I kind of expected better based on how flashy the joint is on the outside. Inside there was kind of a weird smell (stagnant water from the pond thing?), and a sense of dilapidation. I give this place 5 stars, why? Well, first off it's $13.99 for dinner per person (you'd never find that in Toronto). Second, if you've ever had Western Chinese food (or even Chinese buffet) you'd know this place was actually decent in terms of flavour and taste! I've been to Zhang's on many occasions. Yesterday, it happened to be Father's Day and they were having a crab leg special! Everything tasted great! Sushi was to standard, rice and rolls were done right, hot foods were hot and included a wide variety of dishes, even seafood. As for dessert, I would skip the pastries and just go for the soft serve or fruits. Tonight, we decided to try a new Chinese restaurant for carryout. I called and ordered for the family and the lady said it would only be 10-15 minutes (food for 6 people). We went over and our order was ready. The food was reasonably priced and there were large portions. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken which was delicious and spring rolls that were perfectly cooked. My husband had the beef lo mein which delicious and the beef was tasty and tender. We also ordered boiled dumplings which were better than any dumplings I have ordered previously. This is definitely a great place to go for Chinese food and we will definitely return soon! read more

We have been here several times, have always enjoyed that they have such a large selection to pick from. Love the Calamari, it's not rubbery. Also the frog legs are what I always hope they have available. I myself do not eat a lot of meat but, find plenty that I can eat. My husband is all about the meat, so he loves it. We usually like to bless someone and take them with us and have not had anyone that does not enjoy eating here. The servers and wait staff are very good also, things are filled regularly at the buffet and someone is always coming to the table to check on things and remove any dirty dishes. Zhang's honestly isn't that great of a buffet. The entrance waterfall is beautiful, but that's the best part of the place. The food isn't good, period. It's bland and needs some sort of seasoning. The rest of my family enjoys this place, but I'm not big on it at all. Zhang's Buffet is getting 4 stars based on it being a 4 star buffet, not a 4 star dining experience. I came here last Saturday night while hungry and not knowing what I wanted to eat. Coincidentally while my girlfriend and I were discussing where to go we drove past Zhang's, both shrugged, and figured why not give this place a try. Upon entering Zhang's it appears to be a typical asian fusion style buffet similar to most of the others. The food selection here is actually pretty good giving you plenty of chicken options, vegetable, Chinese food, wings, pizza, salad, and even some sweet treats to try after you finish eating dinner. I ended up having 2 plates (it's a buffet, don't judge me) and actually really enjoyed the food. I was a big fan of the black pepper chicken, teriyaki chicken, sweet and sour chicken, waffle fries, and whatever the meatloaf type dish was was pretty good too. I also want to say that for some reason I tried the pizza and it was honestly better then a place like Toni Pepperoni's. I was pretty relieved with how good the food was and even topped off the meal with 2 scoops of ice cream from the ice cream cooler. Overall good selection including crab legs on saturday nights, steamed mussels, some raw seafood options, a few different varieties of sushi made fresh, the Chinese buffet basics like lo mein and General Tso's chicken etc., full dessert station including ice cream and cheesecake and a hibachi area with raw meats and vegetables that you can have the chef at the sushi window prepare for you. The restaurant is very clean and sanitary and the workers very friendly and attentive. This is possibly the best choice around if you seek a relatively cheap buffet meal consisting of Americanized Chinese food. read more

It tasted like the batter was very stale and just old. I spoke to the owner's son about my entree' and he was not very pleasant. I Zhang's is amazing First off they are very clean and are very heavy on Covid-19 protocol You will need to wear plastic gloves on any untensil at the buffet you will receive a pair when you arrive I recommend grabbing a few unless you don't mind reusing them. Everything seemed to be fresh and plentiful, this is probably my 2nd favorite Chinese buffet in Buffalo. Today I was moved to create this review because of the great service they provided. After getting our food and checking out I made my poor hubby ask if they had a takeout container for the ice cream(chocolate chip mint was calling me) so he did(happy wife happy life) and to top it off they gave me the ice cream for free . Once before we already said that we never going to come to this place but just last night after seven years not coming hear we decided to give it one more chance. Food smelled and taste awful, it was definitely not fresh. By the time I got home already was feeling sick, sweats nauseous and throwing up half the night.
