I'll give it two stars, at best…read more LexEatIn was the first third-party food delivery service in Lexington. Before there was GrubHub, Takeout Taxi, or Uber Eats or anything like that, there was LexEatIn. When they opened, the idea was revolutionary. . .that you could order food online and a company would pick it up and deliver it to you. It gave you delivery options for food beyond the traditional delivery options of pizza or Chinese food. At their peak you could get burgers and fries, Indian food, Italian, French, soul food, and numerous other cuisines delivered through them. For several years, I was a loyal customer of LexEatIn. Late nights at the office and can't take time off to go out for dinner? I'd get food delivered. Wanted something delivered other than Chinese or Pizza? I'd go to LexEatIn. However, there are reasons that they only get two stars. One: They tended to take a long time with any delivery. Instead of delivery in 30 or 45 minutes like ordering delivery would normally take, food from them would come in roughly 45 minutes to an hour or two later. It was often cold. Their process of picking up and delivering the food wasn't very efficient in that regard. Two: They were rather bad about cancelling orders. You'd place an order, then they'd cancel it. Apparently the hours they accepted orders for various restaurants didn't line up well with their actual operating hours. Three: They became downright notorious for how poorly they treated their delivery drivers. They got a reputation for stealing tips (you'd put a tip on the credit card, LexEatIn wouldn't forward it). They got into lawsuits with delivery drivers over refusing to pay their drivers. The State Government started an investigation into their employment practices and they stonewalled and refused to comply with subpoenas. When they were sued they refused to turn over subpoenaed documents and had to be threatened with contempt of court to get them to turn over employment records of their drivers (who they insisted were "independent contractors", the drivers disagreed). They became known for being in the news every so often for the latest updates in their legal problems about how they treat their drivers. Some tried to say it was inevitable with any food delivery that these problems would happen. . .but you don't hear about lawsuits like this from pizza places or other delivery joints. Once other delivery services came into town, they beat the pants off of LexEatIn. While normally I'd like to go with a local business and not a chain or national service, they were so clearly superior to LexEatIn that I took my business to them (and I think most of Lexington did too).

These guys have no real plan for dealing with orders that go wrong. I ordered from an Asian…read morerestaurant and the description of the sweet and sour chicken indicated it was covered in a flour batter and fried (like typical sweet and sour chicken.) What arrived was a stewed chicken with no batter. I also ordered fried tofu and received fried rice instead. The people at the restaurant were eager to help and get me some different food or a refund, but said I had to call lexeatin. The people at lexeatin acted like they couldn't be bothered when I called. When I insisted on getting some kind of help, they called the restaurant and gave me a $4.99 refund for the fried tofu and nothing for the poorly described sweet and sour chicken. I am $50 down now, but at least I know not to order through lexeatin again. I recommend using lexeatin to find a list of restaurants that might have food you would like, and then looking up and calling the restaurants directly. You will cut out the very unhelpful middle man and it's associated expenses and have a more pleasant experience.

We got the combo with Chef Q's Madison Smashburger, & pretzel bites with beer cheese. Our thought was to just split it...we ended up getting another burger because it was SO GOOD! I struggle eating beef, but I'm pretty sure I could eat these several times a week! The sauce, the meat and even the bun, combined to make the best burger I think I have ever eaten. I don't leave reviews or give shout outs, but here I am, telling you to get this burger in your belly, now!

There was no one to restock multiple pans of food despite what was promised via email. Representative showed 15 min before party started so food was not hot in time for party. Representative said they would provide plates/platic ware but provided none. Appetizer bruschetta was stale bread with the equivalent of italian "salsa" to build your own...."stuffed mushrooms" were button mushrooms not cleaned with corn bread dressing on top served as a casserole dish. Green beans were obviously reheated out of a can. Food was not seasoned. Would not recommend. Will not use again.

The chicken was golden brown, and the fried cabbage was so good, I ordered extra. Will definitely be ordering again! So glad we finally have a place to get some real soul-food.
