Not only did Buddy meet me at the door and welcome me, but he was very knowledgeable about all of the items I was looking for. Even convinced me that I should try a couple pricey scotches somewhere before I spent the money on an expensive bottle. The store was packed full of just about anything you want and if he didn't have it, he would suggest an alternate you might like or will place special orders just for you. If you're in the area and looking for something special or even generic, I'd recommend You giving Buddy's a try...

Outdoor bench area was cool... and kept cool even though it was a hot June evening Vibe was really good. Kid and dog friendly ... a great time for a family get-out. Fun reggae music with crowd participation. Service was outstanding. It might have taken awhile to get out food, but given the night and the fact that we were having so much fun, it didn't matter. Constant refill of sweet tea was a tip enhancer! Good selection of food... ok, not great. Tried the fish bites and the chicken sandwich - Both were a little to heavily breaded and fried a bit long for me but tasted ok. Excellent fries. The crowd of 9 all seemed good with what they ordered. Definitely will return ... a few other items on the menu seem worth trying.

The fish was greasy and the portion size was minuscule. The "homemade chips", were indeed homemade burnt. The lone saving grace was the tartar sauce, it was very nice. Gold Buckle is the beer store you imagine Mabank having - great selection, some snacks and a even a drive through! When available, you can pull right in and get that beer to go. (If you think about it though, isn't any beer from a beer store/drive thru "to go" unless you are trying to catch a case?) Anyways, if you are coming from out of town, and are looking for a craft beer, a wine cooler selection, or something obscure, you will want to check Gold Buckle first. Most of the gas stations and convenience stores in the area carry the basics (plus Shiner), so it can be a hunt if you aren't used to that. The variety at Gold Buckle will make you feel at home. Also, the staff has always been great when I have been there. Sweet cashiers that seem to really enjoy being at work.
