There is great attention paid to all aspects of the food, from the sauces to the vegetables included with your dishes. The menu is unique with a good variety to please every palate. The steaks are great. I had champagne chicken on Valentine's night which was very tasty. My husband raved about his filet. The chocolate mousse was plentiful and perfect. Went on a Friday night with family and overall it was okay. Our waitress was very nice however she was very overwhelmed and you could tell. The whole staff really. There was table near us that left about 30 minutes and it wasn't cleared before we left. Drinks and food took awhile to come out which was disappointing as when we called to make the reservation they could only get us in at 7:45pm so we were starving. Crostini was delicious, Chicken Alfredo was mid, and my cocktail "Lazy Barback" was really good but for $12 I was a bit disappointed on size. I loved this place and must measure my appreciation at least in the $1k range over the years. I drew attention to the fact that the volume was documented to cause hearing damage or even loss. The manager told me he wouldn't help me and I turned into a jerk. That is why I can't.go back. There were a thousand ways I could have not been a jerk, but I regret I chose the worst actions. That said,, the environment, the staff, the food, and enen management have impressed me time and time again. You should check this palace out. I showed up at 9pm on a Friday. I asked for a table out where there was live music. I was then asked if I was going to order something. I replied Yes, of course I was because I was in their place of business. I was then told they were no longer taking customers. There were multiple tables available, plus an hour left in their normal business hours. Customer service is absolutely horrendous and this place doesn't want your business. STAY AWAY. We came over to The Dock for our late Friendsgivingmas, and had the best time! We made reservations ahead of time, as the place can get crowded on a weekend night. We got to sit out on the covered patio, which was great, bc the warmers were on, it was super cold and windy out this particular night! We were greeted by Josh, who took such great care of us this evening! We were having such a great time, as we hadn't seen each other in a while, so it was another good reason to be on the covered patio, so we could be a little louder than normal, and not disturb other guests. There was a live musician that was playing that night, which made for the perfect mood with all of us. We all ordered what seemed like the whole menu, which I loved because we all shared everything which means we got to try it all!! The oysters were super yummy and the shrimp dish app was one of my faves too. Perfectly crispy and tossed with a delicious sauce. The dessert....ooooo I wish I had ordered this first. The brownie sundae was outstanding. Perfectly warms and delicious and topped with vanilla ice cream and some hot chocolate sauce. We devoured that thing in 2.5 seconds!! I can say that there was not one dish I didn't liked I can see why it gets busy here. The staff were great with helping Josh throughout the evening with all the plates we ordered and with cleaning the plates up as we finished. Just had the Mothers Day Brunch. Do not recommend. We waited over an hour for our food to come out cold. The butter wouldn't even melt on the pancakes. Hash browns were a gray color. Food was awesome! I got prime rib and others got filet mignon and redfish. All were amazing! Our server was Daly (dal-ee) and we will always ask for her when we go back. She was the absolute best! We were origiannlybtomdine inside but they have a screened in "outside area" and the weather was awesome so they accommodated us out there. There are screens that raise up and a few of them were raised. The only thing that brought about was a fly or two during the entire time we were there. But live music was out there during the latter part of our dinner and that was awesome too. Once the music starts it can get a little loud so next time we might come a little earlier so we can enjoy the quiet a little bit longer but the music was a guitar player and he was great! My husband and I went to the Dock last night for a date night. We live in Plano, Texas but spend a good amount of time at Cedar Creek Lake with family. Here is our review of the place: Location: location is right off the main road before you go across the bridge from Caney Creek to Malakoff. It's easy to get to. Parking was easy. Inside the location: First thing we noticed was that it was loud. You can tell they are making efforts in helping with the sound, as there are sound panels of different sorts on the walls and ceilings. Perhaps it's the concrete floors making the noise bounce more. Either way, it was definitely a loud restaurant and wasn't filled to capacity. If you're looking for a quiet place to eat, we recommend eating outside on the porch. The food: we ordered two side salads. The spinach and veggies you could tell were fresh. We then shared the salmon entree, lobster Mac and cheese and cheesy grits. We also got the crème brûlée for dessert. Everything we got was delicious. Not one complaint. Price: For an East Texas, specifically malakoff location, it was pricey. The special, which was a surf and turf was $95. Lobster Mac was considered a side and was priced at $18. With the minimal amount of lobster in the dish, it felt overpriced. A steak was $50ish and our 14 oz salmon was $20. Pricing just seems a little off. Other observations: one of the things we were looking forward to according to the menu was the "variety of oysters" they had available on the half shell. When we asked what the oyster options were, we were told "gulf oysters from Texas". As oyster fans, we were disappointed. That wasn't a variety and gulf oysters are the cheapest, easiest to get. So selling them for $18 a half dozen seemed outrageous. Especially when you pay that much for blue points or west/east coast oysters in Dallas. The staff was busy! You could tell they at a good amount of people. But we did find it interesting that it took a good bit to meet our waitress and get some drinks going. That aside, our waitress did a good job and the food was good. Just pricing may be just a little off. read more

Randomly had some of the best food I ever had in Texas at this restaurant. A glance at the menu and you know this place has a proper chef. The ambiance is modern, pleasant and minimalist. It's really nice to be able to come in casual clothes to a restaurant of this caliber and it makes for a very comfortable experience. We went twice the week we stayed in town and everything was delicious. The crab cakes were fresh and had lots of flavor, the steak cooked perfectly, the macaroni and cheese tasted great. The mixed drinks were also delicious and fun. The second time we went with a friend who has restaurant experience and it was nice to take him to a place we knew he'd be impressed with and enjoy. It's also a relief to have the kids eat their food up without complaint- which they did because it was so good. We went during a week night so we had no issues with noise. The servers and host were all VERY POLITE AND FRIENDLY. Our first server made a couple of mistakes but it wasn't a big deal. It was so refreshing to deal with genuinely kind service. read more

We had the boudin balls to start and they (4) were good, per usual; a tad spicy for those with an intolerance to some heat. The noise situation is a bit much. We've mentioned this on or after previous visits, yes, multiple times. They've made some minor progress by adding noise reduction structures (e.g. tiles on the ceiling and walls) however, it still is loud. Caution to those patrons who use hearing aides or if you struggle to hear basic conversations with an old friend. Simple solution, and again, we've suggested this, add some foam on the bottom of the chairs and tabletops. That would dramatically reduce the noise. It was so lovely once the bigger tables left, no one was competing to hear each other's conversation. We will likely return but only on weekdays when they're not so busy. read more

Had a reservation for 6:45 and didn't get our food until nearly two hours after we ordered. One of our two appetizers took nearly an hour and we didn't get our entrees for another hour after that. It's nice to see a restaurant with a variety of options and interesting dishes but the food is good but not at all good enough to justify the wait time. We were not the only table waiting this amount of time for food tonight either. When our entrees came to the table mine was very warm, but my mother's enchilada was room temperature at best. They did comp some of our items, which we appreciate, but ultimately serving guests in a timely manner is priority. Clearly this is a consistent problem for The Dock (based on other reviews seen here) and is unfortunately a reason why we will not be returning. read more

She came out holding silverware and said they had NO NAPKINS!! She threw a few little cocktail napkins on the table. A few minutes later this guy/the host walks by with a handful of rolled silverware with napkins. I asked him to bring some to us. He never returned. When our waitress came back I asked about them and she said they didn't have any clean napkins. She threw down another stack of cocktail napkins. No apologizes. $123 meal not including tip. The staff is amazing and attentive, the food is high quality and prepared to perfection the shrimp cocktail is a must try with huge shrimp the buttermilk chicken is so tender and fried to perfection the wagyu skirt steak frites was delicious and perfectly marbled May be a bit fatty for some but so much flavor. Voodoo shrimp pasta was awesome wagyu CFS was the most tender I've had. Don't forget about dessert, cheese cake, carrot cake and bread pudding were all great go try this restaurant! Just don't. $185 and 2.5 hours of misery. AC doesn't work and it's extremely noisy. Arrived at reservation time. Was seated quickly. Promptly ordered appetizer and 2 cocktails. At the 55 minute mark the waitress apologized we didn't have our app or drinks order yet but promised it was close. Informed us she could go pour wine herself so we said fine bring us two of those. At an hour and fifteen minutes in we got our wine and crab cake. Crab cake was good. Waited another 30 minutes (1:45) got cocktails. Was told food was right behind it. At 2 hours and 25 minutes I'm only staying to watch to see how the train wreck ends. Food comes out and Cajun pasta is way over seasoned and the swordfish is covered in "mango salsa" which is very green, unripe mango strips and a pile of red onion with a pile of cilantro beside it. $185 and 2.5 hours later we left hungry and disappointed. The deviled eggs and cheese sticks were the only appetizers we got and some agreed the cheese sticks were the best they'd ever had. The pork chop was cooked the perfection. Moist and tender. The crispy Brussels sprouts were a crowd favorite. The chicken fried steak had the perfect amount of crust to meat ratio. Others in the party had the chicken piccata, ribeye, and salmon. My husband and I absolutely love this place. The maître d, Eddie always greets us with a gracious smile even when we pop in right before they close at 3pm. We have a place in Star Harbor and have been so pleased to have this awesome restaurant here at Cedar Creek. My husband and I were excited to try the Fall/Winter menu and it didn't disappoint this past weekend. My husband claims they've got the best whisky sour.
