Absolutely loved this place. I think this was one of the best and spot on services I had in Spain. The owners are brothers and are both deaf, but thag was not an impediment at all. They were extremely nice and were extremely tentative. They ran a great atmosphere with music, cultural decor and significant other said it was best hookah ever had. The drinks were top notch and it was such a great time. It was a great find and honestly the best service we found in Barcelona. Highly recommend this place for everything! Overall it was amazing, can't wait to come back when in Barcelona. read more

SUCH a lovely hookah spot, tucked away a bit so pull out that GPS but when you find it, I promise it's worth it. The staff is deaf but we had no trouble communicating; in fact I learned a few signs which was lovely. Plenty of options for sheesha flavors and they use the good coconut coals (so important for a good experience). My husband was a big fan of the old fashioned he had and I loved that they had board games to play and cards. We will be back before we leave barcelona for sure. This far, best hookah in Barcelona no questions. read more

Sooo cool! Such a nice place to hang out. The vibe was so cozy and peaceful away from the busy city but yet so close to the center. Staff communicates with sign language proof that you don't always need words to give good service! Will totally come back. Must visit when in town for some chill time read more

Anything good I say about this place will not suffice. This place is deaf friendly, almost all of the staff hear are deaf, a lot of their patrons are deaf and one of the owners is deaf too. Its so great to see an establishment that is socially aware and works towards a cause. Their disability does not get in the way of their service at all, which is fantastic. The Hookah and drinks here are great! (Try the summer sangria). But the ambience is what won me over the most! They fancy couches and swings!! Has to be the fanciest hookah place I have ever been to. OMG where do I start? This American tourist was blown away by the hospitality in this place. A) the hookahs were delicious! Pro tip: definitely order the iced hookah when you're there B) the specialty cocktails were to die for. I had the one with date juice and it tasted like Christmas C) the service was outstanding! I was wearing a short skirt and asked for a cushion so that I could sit comfortably, the server got me a nice blanket! How nice is that!! This place is incredible. One of the owner and all the staff are either fully deaf or are hard of hearing. We were happy to support an establishment that supports such a good cause and empowers deaf individuals. The atmosphere here is wonderful and they offer a small tapas menu along with sheesha and great drinks!! If you want a full dinner/restaurant meal, they have a sister restaurant across the street. The service was impeccable and we really enjoyed our time here. I got the red wine sangria, my husband got the gin with olives and my brother in law got the cardhu 15 year old scotch and the drinks were magnificent. We also got the potato bravas cooked in seven different spicy with a side of minty yogurt dressing and it was very delicious. I highly recommend this place. read more

This place was absolutely amazing! We able to take off our shoes and share a couch space. The overall place is very cozy and intimate. Also the hummus and pita bread are amazing and super fresh! Also the staff is hearing impaired but incredibly friendly and efficient. It makes for a really interesting experience. There is a lot of unique seating and free wi-fi! read more

We were in Barcelona for a few days and visited a different hookah lounge each night. Ziryab was by far the most distinct and enjoyable experience. The space isn't huge but it serves its purpose. We loved this place so much we went twice during our 3 night stay in Barcelona. Compared to prices in the states the shisha is a little on the high but totally worth it. The staff was super friend and helpful, I got to use my sign language skills while there. LOVE IT read more

This is a super chill spot. The decor instantly puts you in a state of Zen. Shisha ranges from 15 to 25 euros. We ordered one of the 25 ones and this is pretty much the best shisha I've had. They also serve tapas and of course drinks. BTW if you order one of the 15 euro shisha a drink is mandatory. After a full day of sightseeing this is exact what we needed to unwind before heading back to the hotel. read more

Great spot to lay back and smoke some hookah. The workers who are all deaf or hard of hearing are very nice and helpful. The hookah was really good (have to try it with the iced hose) and the wine was good. Definitely a nice place to go and relax after a long day of exploring the city. read more

Such a cool little place! My husband and I were visiting Barcelona from California and ended up coming here several nights during our trip. The decor is nice and true to the middle eastern culture. The mojitos and tea were delicious and the hookah was some of the best we've ever had. Most of their staff is hearing impaired but they were all so nice and helpful. I was here at the hookah lounge four years ago and one of the owners who is deaf was so kind and we had a nice conversation. I work on cruise ships and have been in Barcelona a few times since. Today I was with my mom and went to a yarn shop nearby and then were in desperate need of a place to sit down and have dinner. Google maps showed me that Ziryab was close by and had great reviews. Without realizing that I had been there before, we went and sat down in the tapas restaurant. I saw the hookah lounge and realized I had been there before, and I saw the owner who I had spoken with four years ago. The food was so amazing. Everything we tried had so much flavor and was so well prepared. I'm so happy we got to go there. It's a great establishment and everyone there is so kind. read more

We came here two nights our of our five night stay in Barcelona because we liked it so much! Upstairs, there are hammock seats that we were lucky enough to get one night. The other night we got a comfy couch, which was also great. The drinks here are so good! The sweet Ziryah is like a milkshake, so yummy. I CANT EXPRESS HOW NICE THE PEOPLE WHO WORK HERE ARE!!! I forgot to collect 30 euros of change from my bill as the store was closing, and when I returned the two men working there gladly gave me my change, which would have been their tip!! (Don't worry I tipped) the ambiance and decor is INCREDIBLE, and super cozy, there is no communication problems, and the staff was happy to accommodate me and my friends. Ziryab was founded by a brother-sister duo, who are passionate about life. Both have spent many years travelling the world and are fascinated by people and interesting stories.... Ziryab is a beautiful blend of cultures and attracts interesting people who are willing to go off the beaten track, which is what gives it a unique vibe! There is a Shisha (hookah) lounge on one side of the street and the tapas restaurant on the other. The hookah lounge offers three different tobacco brands, in a beautiful old charming place in the heart of the old city, 100% natural coconut coal replaced the number of times you need, an eclectic playlist of jazz music and other relaxing music, some chill out spaces and of course cocktails or tapas from Ziryab restaurant across the road! The team hires young deaf workers as one of the owners is deaf, which means you have to make your order in sign language!! And gives one more unique feature to this cute little lounge.

However, our experience was sort of ruined when a female employee came over and chided my wife and two other American patrons we were talking to for being too loud. They weren't being particularly loud and at this point we were the only four people sitting at the bar itself. She was not a bartender (at that time at least) and she completely ruined our vibe with this complaint. She had been eyeing one of the other American patrons we had been talking to before she came over and confronted my wife after she laughed. The bar tenders didn't seem to be aware this happened and when we were closing out they remarked they didn't think we had been loud and that they like their guests to have fun. This female employee apparently didn't get the memo! We sense that perhaps she just dislikes Americans, which would be rich for working at an establishment like this! She also had no issues when a dog other guests brought in barked loudly multiple times, each time silencing the entire bar because the barks were so booming. The other American couple felt the same way -- the stern talking to just ruined the experience for all four of us. So... great spot but our experience was unnecessarily tarnished by a jerk employee!!!

I have become a fan of Ziryab's live music nights. I don't normally write reviews for places but decided to write one for here because I have started going every Wednesday night to listen to their live music. It's always a really nice style - they have a Brazilian playing bossa nova on guitar that I heard this week (fantastic voice!) and someone else who does a kind of flamenco jazz style with piano, don't remember the name.
