They would scare or try to scare the people in front of us and then we would already know what was coming. It was very predictable. Definitely not worth more than $10. The actors were very fruity way too many props and costumes that were not even close to scary. I kept a straight face and didn't jump once. The bang for your buck is there; we were there longer than any other we've done, probably 1.5 hours with the extra haunt experience and hanging by the bonfire with drinks. So many textures, lighting, effects, animatronics, different themes, probs, actors, and even smells while you're being led through many many fields, houses, buses, warehouses etc! The actors were also scary yet didn't make me uncomfortable like others have before, they knew the line and didn't cross it. I loved how dedicated they were, some in cages or on the floor, some laying on the beams of the building, some blending in with the room or other props. We went on Halloween night & everyone we saw there had tons of fun too. Way to go, and thank you Screamin Acres! We'll see you next year.

My neighbor was a performer in today's live performance titled "The Pandemic Poem in Performance." The physical space was beautiful. Clean. Modern. Bright. We even toured an interesting art exhibit since we arrived early for the performance. The live performance was great. The environment added to our enjoyment -- comfy chairs, perfect room temperature, and great acoustics. I also liked the easy parking access. We went from the parking garage into the building without having to brave today's chill. There was a parking payment kiosk indoors too. I'll be signing up for their email news letter to keep updated on other events at the Lab.

We apparently were on the cusp of a museum reset, so some areas had already been closed off to the public as a result. When in the area again, we will def revisit the Chazen. Whether a couple with many miles or a new budding romance, or even solo, this stop is a must on your itinerary for the heart, soul and mind.

The Chazen was a sublime way to spend part of my afternoon and I'm so envious of the students who attend school there--I would've killed to have had something like this on my campus as an undergraduate. There are three floors of art to digest; the first two are rotating exhibits so make sure to take it all in. Everything was so well lit and while spacious to accommodate all the art, it also feels nice and cozy inside. The third floor is the true gem though. That's where you'll find art throughout the ages; there is so much for the eyes to feast upon, and more notable names in art history. The best surprise for me was encountering several works by my favorite artist (Calder). To behold his mobile in the flesh is otherworldly and always moves me to tears. You cannot come to Madison and skip this museum without doing yourself a huge disservice. I'd haunt this place if I were a local. It's truly sublime.

When it comes to drinks you have two choices, Maria's and Parched Eagle, and both have their own area to retreat to if you want to escape the music and lounge. Maria's had lots of tables to hold a conversation at and a bunch if pinball tables keep you occupied between sets. The Parched Eagle has plenty of board games and is usually the quietest of the bunch.

You walk in and you have a huge bar area on the left to grab a drink, then you can walk down a few steps and it's a huge area right in front of the stage. We got standing only tickets so that's where we stood. It was awesome because you could get so close to the stage. They do have a second floor with an additional bar and paid seating that looked really nice. The sound was great, everything was clean, air conditioned, the bar staff were efficient, and the prices weren't insane. There were a lot of people there but you still had your own standing space, it wasn't a packed sardines situation at all. Even leaving was easy, it wasn't a stampede. Overall an awesome somewhat more intimate experience for a concert. They do have a parking garage for $15. We went to dinner on Willy Street before and had street parking there so we didn't need to move our car. Only a few block walk, super convenient! I can't wait to see another concert at The Sylvee!

They pick plays of questionable merit with an unclear target audience and market it without guidance, so they end up with 2-4 year olds watching an 80 minute performance with most of the vocabulary over their heads and a muddled story with no clear separation of right and wrong. Princess and the Pea is the latest example. Good performance, awful play. Unless you are related to one of the performers, I would think twice about attending a performance.
