I bought a new fender acoustic and I was about to send it back to musician's friend. I had taken it to a local guitar store and was told the action couldn't be fixed. I walked into zoo music hoping to try out a few acoustics and buy a new one. To my surprise I was told that my guitar could be fixed, in 30 minutes. I was shocked. My guitar plays like a dream now. I was so happy I ended up buying an amp for less than the price online. These guys are a friend to every local musician. I will make the drive from Forney for all my guitar needs. Update: I bought a Blackstar amp from the Garland location and the service was excellent. You can't go wrong at either location. read more

seriously i cant say enough about this place! on our first visit i must admit it was against my will...15 year old aspiring guitarist wanted to pop in. we originally stopped at the location in garland. we perused for i know an hour and a half and the people that work in there are awesome and had a phenomenal amount of patience with the junior guitarist i was toting. we were in the market for a new guitar teacher and were told to hike it down the road to the dallas location...*ugh* parental response...after much begging and pleading we went. total awesomeness again!!!! this store was just as good as the last one...but wait! could it be because the 2 guys we were talking to were the same ones from store #1? perhaps its true, again their customer service and patience were much appreciated! they talked to the aspiring guitarist and showed him some cool stuff, "that he could only dream of playing" and hung out with us until the garth algar look-alike guitar teacher came out. he too was a great guy! cha-ching, new guitar lessons paid for we left. fast forward to last thursday...scooter came in for lesson number one and i was gonna read in the car. opted for hanging out in store cause there was an eric clapton concert for my viewing pleasure! talked shop, listened to cool music and even entertained the fine staff with marissa (my new iphone) . fun times were had by all. even chatted with one of rockwalls own, mr jameson himself. i have promised treats for next week and i am sure that the camraderie will not disappoint! keep up the good work. read more

The good thing about this store is that even though they have no high end franchise stuff, they do have a great selection of hard to find strings/types and picks. There is no where else besides Charley's where I can actually find Tortex brand flat picks and a full range of GHS strings. They seem to get some pretty cool used electric stuff there every now and then. Definitely worth the trip. At least accessories. read more

Their gear is used, vintage and their new stock is typically NOS at least on guitars. Like cars, I really don't buy new anyhow so this suits me to tee. The places are a bit of a dumpster fire and a retail consultant would likely come in there with a flamethrower. Let's hope that never happens. Dave is over seeing some serious renovations and changes. Let's hope he keeps the junk motif. I dig it. It has a charm. Are there a few things I would change? Yes. I think they get a little crazy with the pricing. However, that never stopped from making a deal. That said, this place gets a 5 star review from me and here is why: Jeremy in Dallas is always willing to work out a deal that works for me. He is a nice guy and a pleasure to trade with. Dave ( the owner ) gave my 12 year old son a tutorial on a lot of the old vintage electrics he had hanging up in the store. My son loved it and is quite fond of Dave. He always makes it a point to chat with me and the boys when we come in there. Things an owner should do. Last but not least, the manager Dwayne. He too is a cool guy. Always up for a chat and extremely knowledgeable about the mixed bag of instruments in the store. Not one to hard sell ( none of them are ). In the end, they seem more concerned about connecting people with the right instruments than making a buck. That is why people keep coming back. I have purchased 5 guitars from these cats in the past 5 years. I keep going back. It is because I like what the place represents. read more

Great staff. personable and friendly. As helpful and knowledgeable as they come. They will spend the time to help you find exactly what you need and the prices are as low as I've been able to find. Full service? Absolutely! Needed a small P.A. and the salesperson got us exactly what we needed at a price that we could not say no to. If you need to layaway something here. No problem. I watched them help a layaway customer as if his credit was gold eventhough it was a relatively small purchase. Great bunch of guys and great service. read more

What a pleasant change from the big box corporate music stores. I picked up a project guitar at an online auction and needed a few random parts to get it completed. I had already bombed out at both I-75 mega music shops between poorly stocked inventories and inept, disinterested staff. I had read good things on line about Zoo Music and happened to be in the neighborhood so decided to stop in. Jeremy was extremely knowlegable and helpful. he spent a lot of time with me going through bins of random parts to help me find what I needed.Jeremy wasn't able to find everything I needed, but he gave me a reference to another business that might have it. I ended up getting one part I needed, for a buck. I spent a few minutes looking at some of the awesome vintage guitars hanging up in the shop. I will definately go back for any future music gear needs. Great place!! read more

This place is a total hidden gem. It's my preferred store when I'm hitting the "pawn circuit". They have lots of obscure amps. Be prepared to haggle a bit. read more
