I was impressed by the positive comments about Wedgeworth Plumbing so I filled out the Yelp form to request a quote. (Note: If you want to get a quote, don't bother with the Yelp form. Just pick up the phone and call them directly! All the Yelp form does is add a delay in response time!) Within a couple of days I had a plumber (and his apprentice) at my home to check out what I needed. They gave me a reasonable price estimate and let me know there might be additional cost if the flange under the toilet needed repair or replacement. Because their quoted price was reasonable I decided to go ahead with them for the work. They were able to schedule the work quickly and the plumber came back, new toilet in hand, and did a quality job! The flange was in good shape so I avoided the extra expense I had been warned about. Overall, I'm very pleased with the work Wedgeworth did for me, and I'll be calling them again the next time I need a plumber.

It passed inspection and all boxes were checked. What I like about Shawn and Latham is teamwork. While Shawn was wrapping my water heater installation in the attic, Latham was doing working on another plumbing issue in my kitchen under my sink. Both were highly professional and skilled in meeting League City rigorous standard and code. Most of all, this company is affordable and do quality work. I always feel like I get immense value when I hire them for any plumbing job. They make recommendations and I have learned to trust their judgment. Over the last few months, I hire them for my bathroom, kitchen, and water heater installation needs. If you need a fantastic plumber, call Wedgeworth plumbing and ask for Shawn and Latham. A. I found DPS Plumbing on Yelp and called them to check a pipe leak in the attic. Dave was quick to…read morerespond and mentioned his hourly rate was $75 per hour. I agreed and had Dave come out the next day to assess the damage. Unfortunately, the ceiling sheetrock collapsed overnight from the water accumulation, but the good thing was the attic was now exposed for Dave to easily see the leak. Dave arrived right before 9am and gave an estimate of $623, which was 6 hours of labor totaling $450 and $173 in materials. I thought the estimate was high (he first wrote 5 hours but crossed it out and changed it to 6 hours). And his estimate didn't include replacing the ceiling sheetrock afterwards. When I asked Dave if it would really take 6 hours to repair since he could see the leak easily and didn't have to hunt around for the leak, he said yes 6 hours. Since all that water was starting to soak the carpet and furniture, I decided to just get it done and agreed to the estimate. Dave started at 9am and finished around 12 noon. After he was done, I asked if it would still cost $623 since it only took 3 hours instead of 6 hours. He said it's still $623. I paid it and reminded myself to never call him again or recommend him to friends & neighbors. Btw, Dave used about 8 feet of AquaPex tubing to replace the bad section of leaking galvanized pipe. I checked afterwards and AquaPex costs around $50 for a large 100 feet coil. I don't see how he could justify charging $173 for 8 feet of AquaPex tubing and some pipe fittings. In summary, Dave was responsive and able to complete the repair, but way overcharged on both labor and materials. I understand there's overhead to run a business (licenses, insurance, gas, etc). But to charge 6 hours of labor for a job that was completed in 3 hours, plus $173 for materials that cost $30-$40 at most, that just seems wrong and bad for the business reputation. Photo attached showing before and after repairs. Also photo of the estimate that became the final invoice.

After 1.5 days of failed DIY plumbing attempts, we read the rave reviews for DPS, saw that they were located down the road from us in the mountains, and gave them a call. A very nice lady answered and said Dave would call us back within 15min. It was late afternoon, but he said he could swing by the following day around the same time, and he was true to his word! He and Tristan (Trystan?) showed up, got straight to business in the 95-degree heat, and unplugged our main line through the septic tank + removed the roots causing the blockage (a common problem, I found out) and had us right as (beautifully clear, fecal-free) rain within the hour for a very reasonable price. Will DEFINITELY save ourselves the DIY hassle and leave plumbing to the professionals in the future, and Dave & Co. are wonderfully professional. Highly recommend them for any of your mountain house plumbing needs!

As a repeat customer, I wouldn't recommend Damon Hinson to anyone! I should have run like Forrest…read moreGump if I knew that he is a scam artist to begin with. I was too trusting and loyal to Damon which was a mistake! Damon accepted the job to unclog my atrium drain but was unable to finish it after 3 days (around 8 hours) being at my home. The worst news is that he took my $780. He ignored my demand letter that I sent on 7/23/25. His deadline to pay me back was 7/25/25 before midnight. Complaints against Damon had been filed with the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners and Houston BBB since he refused to refund my $780. Damon had been lying to me since 7/16/25. Red flags were all over the place. He came over to my home in the late afternoon around 6pm without investigating the issue with me before giving me the estimate. When I tried to pay him using my credit card, he said no! I wasn't protected when paying him by cheque. He knew how to screw me up pretty well. Damon was attempting to make me pay him another $780 on 7/17/25. He told me to cancel my cheque payment and wanted me to Zelle him the $780. Chase Bank told me that he cashed the cheque already. He said he had no idea that he had cashed it. That was a crime! Damon was very incompetent because he kept telling me that my atrium drain is tied to the sewage line which is untrue! On 7/18/25, the other plumber (who was my 2nd opinion to bust Damon's lies) had confirmed that the drain outlet is in the community shrubs in front of my home. I have proof in writing by this plumber. My HOA had acknowledged the issue. On 7/21/25, it was Damon's last chance to unclog the atrium drain, he told me that he had to look into my sewage system. He kept saying that in order to unclog the drain, I had to pay him another $500 something in order for him to keep going with this job. At this point, he only cared about providing more services for more money! He truly was clueless. He kept bringing up that he smelled poop at the atrium. What an idiot! If I let him run the sewage clean out, he will damage my home! At this point, I immediately declined service for the 2nd estimate and told him to leave. I caught Damon in the lies over and over! He had been telling me, my family and the rest of his customers that he is a master plumber! Per the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners, Damon has a journeyman license. I couldn't trust Damon anymore after all. I am very pissed off and stressed out because it is surely very dang hard to trust any contractors these days! I no longer want Damon as my go-to plumber for life. Whoever is trying to consider Damon Hinson for any plumbing work, forget "the benefit of the doubt"! Stay the heck away from DH Services!

I thought I would try a local small business and put out a request on Yelp. Within 5 minutes I got a call, and Damon was at my place in a couple hours. It was quality work, the install went as planned, and I wouldn't hesitate to call them again with my next job. They are a small business getting started, and they really want to earn your business. I couldn't be more thrilled with how it all turned out. It's important to support local, independent businesses!

Clearly knowledgeable about what they were doing. He talked me through the different styles of toilets as well as the different common issues that they see. Jeremy was a technicians name and I can't say enough about him he spend extra time talking to me about AC discharge, and other things that we commonly have in Texas. They cleared the toilet replaced the apparatus and everything was perfect again. Based on the recommendation I did not do any research on other companies. My mistake, All About Plumbing charged me $725 for the test, which they said showed a slow leak. However, they could not tell me where the leak was and suggested I contact American Leak Detection, an expert in leak detection. American Leak charged me $350 for the exact same test, nearly half the price of All About Plumbing, and their testing showed no leak. American Leak uses a more thorough and accurate testing method. All About Plumbing looked for the leak with a camera which they said was above and beyond what was required to complete the hydrostatic test, but there was no leak to be found. I can't say if they are good plumbers in areas other than leak detection, they may be, I can say with complete certainty they are overly expensive plumbers and I would not use them again.
