Like many doctors in this country, though, she had to make appointments short, and appointments were sometimes weeks out. It was frustrating for both of us. When Dr. Acher announced she was starting a new practice and it would be a concierge medicine practice, I was both confused and intrigued. "You mean I pay even MORE money on top of what I'm already paying for insurance?" I looked into it further both as a concept and as something that had been done successfully on the Eastside. At $100 per month, I decided to give it a try. She said I could phone, text, or email her any day at any time. I didn't believe it at first. But sure enough, I've texted her at night on weekends and she has responded in just a few minutes. Amazing! I don't make a habit of it because Dr. Acher has to live a life, too. My first in-office appointment wasn't even an annual physical, but she talked to me for about 40 minutes. Nothing was hurried. I never felt as if she had to rush to the next patient. I couldn't believe it. For me $8 per day is worth it. I have direct access to my GP. I feel heard and attended to. And she gets to choose how many people are in her practice, which means she can control how busy it gets. Highly recommended! The billing department is impossible to get ahold of so I'm having trouble getting that charge reversed or talking to anyone about it. Dr Suh is nice and professional enough but this office seems to be solely about getting paid. I'm paying for the extra appointment, cutting my losses and taking my business elsewhere in the future. Update: Dr. Suh has responded and furthered my point about money being the primary focus for his practice therefore I am lowering this to one star. He also did not address my issues trying to contact billing which I've faced multiple times and see others have issues as well. Another cool thing is that Swedish uses MyChart, an online personal health record system where you can see your medical history, appointments, messages from your doctor, etc. Strangely, when I called to make an appointment, the receptionist said that Dr. Karmali did not have any openings until January 2015. However, when I went online to MyChart, I saw multiple openings between now and the end of the year. I ended up making an online appointment with Dr. Karmali for early December and cancelling my phone-made appointment with another doctor at Swedish. I am so excited to go see Dr. Karmali again soon!

After my motorcycle accident in 2009 Dr. Karmali checked up on me and worked with my medical records from Harborview to continue with my pain management care. To this day she still works closely with me on this care and has been very good at keeping an eye out for my health and well being and continues to work with my pain management doctor at Harborview. Dr. Karmali set me up with MyChart (available to all Swedish patients) when I moved back to WA and through that I am able to discuss issues with her without having to make an appointment to go into the clinic (I'm already there enough as it is!) and she is quick to get back to me usually same day but definitely within 24 hours. She even responds on her days off and to me, that is complete dedication and proves just how much she cares about her patients. I have recommended her to a couple of friends and they love her as well. Dr. Karmali is very knowledgeable and caring. If she is unsure of something she will investigate the issue to ensure that you get the best possible care. She is just an amazing doctor and an even more amazing person.
