Even if you think you don't know the brand, you might recognize Manner wafers when you see them. Their classic Neapolitan wafers were introduced in 1898 and are hazelnut-cream filled wafers. Josef Manner opened his first stop next to St. Stephen's Cathedral. I'm not sure if the current shop is located in the same place as the original shop, but it's certainly close by (just across from the cathedral). The shop is tiny, but it's well stocked - full of the classic Manner wafers but also additional flavors and a million other items related to Manner. Given the company's history, Manner wafers make a perfect souvenir from a trip to Vienna. Stop by and take some home - whether you love them already or not.

Crunchy wafers with chocolate and hazelnut cream in between. Located across from St. Stephen's Cathedral, I had to come visit this shop. You can get Manner in different flavors and shapes, and packaging: giant box, small bag. They have chocolate-covered Manner. So many options I didn't know exist. My mind was definitely blown. Keep in mind, these wafers have a rather short shelf life. Be sure to eat them within 6 months after purchasing them or they'll be expired. I've actually eaten expired Manner before and it was rancid! They also have Mozartkugeln (chocolate ball with marzipan and pistachio in the middle), individually wrapped chocolates and pralines. For serious Manner lovers, you can get liqueur, a t-shirt, a bag, and a hoodie, teddy bear, flash drive, snow globe, and all kinds of little accessories.

I would have never thought to make ice cream with pumpkin seed oil, but there is olive oil ice cream, so why not pumpkin seed oil ice cream? Pumpkin seed oil is now one of my favorite ice cream flavors in Vienna. The poppyseed flavor was not strong, but had a good texture. The elderberry flavor had an intense tang that was very refreshing for summertime. The three flavors were very different from each other, but it was absolutely divine to try them together.

However, I did stop in at Aida to try their various cakes, have some coffee and people watch for a bit. Naturally as a women with a girlish side, I enjoyed the overall feminine decor and cutesy decorated cakes. Today is Easter, making the cakes elaborately decorated and whimsical. I ended up ordering a super cute coffee infused cake, mousse, covered in a layer of caramel topped with a cute bunny. My husband by passed all the cuteness and chose a whipped chocolate mousse cake covered in chopped chocolate flakes. I paired my cake off with an order of the "Mozart coffee". Three layers of coffee, Mozart liquor, topped with whipped cream. Waitress delivered all to my table outside.. My cake was super sweet, but that's to be expected when it's covered in a hard shell of caramel. Both cakes were delicious, though not memorable. My Mozart coffee was light in sweetness (perfectly balanced when pairing with desserts), yet the Mozart liquor was nearly undetectable (that could just be me, as I'm a lover of my spirits), it might be noticed by someone else. There is "freewave" WiFi available from this cafe, expect to pay 1€ to use the bathroom. I believe that's alot, but I noticed higher traction areas charge more. The waitress came to my table after a while to close my tab, yet she took two Euros for her self ... either she scammed me because she knows I'm American and figures I do it there so why not give her some too, or Aida is the only place thus far, that I've encountered through out Vienna, that REQUETS a tip.
