    Line to get in

Gelateria La Romana is a gelato shop founded in Rimini, Italy in 1947. They use quality ingredients to create a superior product. After their popularity in several Italian cities they started to expand to other locations in Europe and the Middle East. Their location in Vienna, Austria is a short walk from the museum district. When I arrived in the early afternoon I was shocked to see a line of 20 people out the door, fortunately the line moved quickly. This is the BEST gelato I have ever had and I have tried many places throughout Italy (Rome, Florence, etc.). It was so good I came back the next day! Pricing was as follows (in euros): Small (3), Medium (4), Maxi (5), Gross (6). The small size only allowed for 2 flavors, while the gross size allowed for 5 flavors. My favorite flavors that I had here were the pesto di pistachio (sweet milk cream with premium pistachio paste), cioccolato fondente (creamy dark chocolate gelato made from a selection of premium cocoa varieties), and crema dal 1947 (delicate Italian custard cream made with lemon zest and vanilla flavoring). Overall I was so impressed with the offerings here. Service was efficient and friendly. They have about 8 to 10 tables indoor as well as the same amount outdoors. Come here to get your GELATO fix! It doesn't get any better!!!

It was alright. Had the classic crema and the Stracciatella. It's creamy, but the flavor lacked a little depth.

Ambiance: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Food: 5/5 Oh my gosh! Being the gelato lover I am, I was SO excited to come across this place on my travels to Vienna that I went back twice in four days! The staff there are absolutely lovely, they let us try a bunch of flavours and gave us personal recommendations until we finally made up our minds. As for the ambiance, the place is pretty big with lots of seating and is open late as well which is awesome if you're ever having a late night craving for gelato. Now for the main part - the gelato is AMAZING! For the small size you can get 2 flavours. The first time I went I got Baccio and pistachio and the second time I got pistachio and fior Di latte. Everything from the texture to the rich flavours is perfect! I'd definitely recommend this spot to anyone going to Vienna and I know I'll be drooling about it in my dreams in the f

Beautiful shop with excellent gelato. We stopped in after going to nearby Spittelberg christmas market for some gelato. I ordered the pistachio and a special hazlenut/almond gelato. It is some of the best gelato I have ever had. I saw some very adorable cakes they make there as well. I would love to go back if ever in Vienna again.

La Romana is a justifiably very popular Italian gelateria in Neubau. It recently celebrated its one year birthday in Vienna although it started in Rimini, Italia almost 70 years ago. This is a very creamy and high quality gelato - most people seem to notice the difference in comparison with some of the more popular gelati sold elsewhere in Vienna. As it is also not on a main street, that means less in the way of crowds and more tables to sit at to enjoy this delicious refreshing treat. The three assortment becker is a perfect was to try three different flavors. I can personally recommend the pistacio, the 1947 cream, and the roasted almond and praline flavors. My closest Italian friends in Vienna swear by this gelato. My taste buds are in agreement with them!

This Café has the genuine charm of a fancy Italian Café with all sorts of flavors of super-creamy true Italian Ice Cream full of extravaganza. Here they are very creative in their ice cream flavors. And there is plenty of Italian ice cream flavors to choose from. The coffee is delicious and the staff very friendly and helpful, and all of the staff members have this charming Italian accent, since they are native Italians. The interior and the patio is all stylish. And while enjoying your Italian ice cream or coffee in the patio you face a beautiful scenery on the opposite of the street...The Stiftskaserne. With Love! We had an ice cream here on a Sunday afternoon. The interior looks nice but the service is very poor. There were at least six persons behind the counter but they were very disorganized. Overall you get better ice cream and better service at the Bortolotti ice cream shops nearby.

I will start with the negatives and move to the positives. N.1 it's new, which means they have not hit their stride yet. Service was difficult to understand if I should wait at a table or go to the cash. Eventually someone came. N.2 things aren't clear for someone new. Choices and combinations with the selection and specials seem everywhere. But again, once they hit their stride, things should get better. OK, time for the positives! Lots of flavours, so far all delicious. Very roomy and they even have an outside inner patio/courtyard. But not done well enough for me to actually use it. The inside area is done really well, making me feel like my wallet will take a large hit. But it didn't. Prices are on par for the quality received. What sets this place apart from the rest, are the difficult to pull off items. These are the brioche with gelato, crêpes with or without gelato, fun cookies and even yogurt, nutty things and fruity combinations. They even have kid bibs! Priceless. A well thought out business where only the staff need to iron out the delivery...

The deserts the best we had in Vienna. Genuine Italian homemade ice-cream. Service was great and a calm place to chill. Great prices and they were passionate about what they were doing. A real gem!

Nice staff and good selection of ice cream with fair prices. Will be back if we are in the area again.

My absolute favorites are the chocochino, a mixture of chocolate and coffee, and the cafe latte which is short of like an eiskaffee in scoop form. They create a unique recipe for each flavor so each flavor has its own distinctive taste. You can really tell you're dealing with hand made ice cream, nothing mass produced or processed here, that's for sure! It's truly artisan ice cream at its best.

The family-run business is located a block away from the Wien Mitte mall, so it is very easy to walk to when traveling around the city. Vidoni's ice cream shop provides unique and delicious ice-creams. Some of their flavorful creations are Earl Grey (English black tea), Raspberry Violet, Orange-Saffron, Chocolate Nut Brittle and coming soon - Peanut! This one of a kind shop also takes consideration to everyone's special dietary needs -- the ice-creams are marked according to what kind it is: Vegan, lactose-free, organic, sugar-free, nut free, and gluten free. I got to taste test ice creams like Black Forest cake, Turkish Honey, Amaretto, Pistachio, and Cafe Latte. My top favorite? Turkish honey! It had such a nice sweetness to it. The people behind Vidoni also take a lot of care in the creation, process and presentation of their ice-cream, investing in powerful machines to pulverize and turn their simple ingredients of milk (or dairy free milk), sugar and other fruits/herbs necessary to create delicious and appetizing ice-cream. They focus on organic ingredients wherever possible -- some ingredients are specially grown fruits and herbs from gardeners on their team. Plus, if you're in Vienna, you can pre-order their ice-cream through their web shop or app, and if you order within the 1st or 3rd district you can have your ice-cream delivered to you, while in all other districts there is an Ice Cream Van that drives around.
