My husband brought me to this beautiful restaurant while we were having a mini vacation. The staff was very friendly and easily spoke to us in English. The food was absolutely amazing! I ordered the onion soup and the Carbonara with spaghetti (other pasta choices were available too). My husband ordered a rare Tomahawk, which was cooked to perfection! It is a no credit card restaurant, so we asked if they took American dollars, and they did. I had a glass of wine and a bottle of still water, my husband had two beers, served in girls h tops on them. The drinks were reasonably priced and excellently paired with our food. The interior of the restaurant was elegant, though the dress code was comfortably casual. We arrived at 5:30pm and were immediately seated. I strongly recommend that you make a reservation, that said, we arrived at 5p and they were able to slide us in before another party with a 7p reservation. The service was attentive and timed well, they did not rush us but we respected that the table was reserved at 7 and didn't daudle. The dinner salad was really fresh and crisp, and the salad dressing was sublime. Then our Ribeyes arrived, were more than 2 inches thick and as big as a salad plate. The outside has a great crisp crust and our stakes were cooked to a perfect medium. This restaurant was the first one we had seen in the region that had a baked potato on the menu and it was a welcomed treat, that didn't disappoint, with butter and creme freiche. We were so full that we didn't have room for dessert but would bet that dessert is good there too. read more

First off I ate here twice and was excellent both times! Just check out the pictures of the different meats we ordered on the second visit. Tomahawk, T-Bone, and the Ox Steak were all cooked to perfection. Being that the tomahawk and ox were 1 kilo each and my T-bone was 700g I cant believe how they came out so perfect . That butter to top the meat was all it needed. Just typing this review is making my mouth water. The salad was also wonderful with the homemade dressing. Service was great as they took care of our table as if we were family. Beers refilled in a timely manner. Overall a must eat at for steaks! read more

This was great ! I was recommend this place from a fellow spouse and was not disappointed! I was expecting slow service from other yelp reviews and when we walked in it was really packed but the waiter sat us rather quickly and right off the bat let us know the meat was taking extra long which was very cool of them. We ordered the shrimp and butter appetizer, do not skip this stuff, it was sooooo good! Then we had a salad and then the steak (ribeye) with fries. It took some bit of time but they perfectly paced the food out with the perfect amount of time. The waitresses were very kind and attentive. We really enjoyed the service, atmosphere and the food! I loved the garlic butter on the steak it was TO DIE FOR! We both only ate 1/4 of the steak it was so large and thick. We will be coming back ! We enjoyed this establishment! The only other thing I will say just because I tried looking through these reviews to see if anyone talked about the prices I thought I would share - we spent €79 for two extremely large ribeyes with fries, a salad, two large colas and one Pilsner. Great for larger groups but I'd make a reservation. We went on a Thursday night with kids! Food was excellent with a nice variety of german specialties. I didn't realize they had a small order and large order until later but I'd defiantly go with a small or a VERY big appetite! The salmon was fantastic. Prices are reasonable. I found it not too noises which I appreciate. Staff was friendly and accommodation. A few things were slow -kids dessert. But still friendly. read more

Food is good. Service is terrible. We ordered a bottle of house Red Wine. The server brought us 3 glasses instead. We took one sip of the wine and it was clear that it had fermented. We sent the wine back and ordered a bottle of a different wine which was good. When we got the bill, we noticed they had charged us for the three glasses of rejected wine. We called the server on it and she told us that her manager would not take back the charge for the three glasses of wine. Instead of fighting the charge we told her that we would not tip, there was nothing she did about it. My suggestion: there are plenty of other good German restaurants to eat at in town, go there instead. read more

We had an excellent Sunday lunch with friendly service in a beautiful setting. English menus were available. The tomato soup is a must; best I've every had. My wife had a steak with onions and it was perfectly season and cooked. I had the "small pan" which was pork medallions in creamy mushroom sauce on a bed of spatzle, all covered in cheese and baked. It was one of the best dishes that I have had in Germany. The schnitzle dishes were average. The tiramisu had a nice presentation and was very tasty. Street parking is limited, but a parking garage is nearby. We highly recommend this restaurant! read more

One of the best restaurants we have found! My husband had the ribeye with onions. It was about an inch and a half thick and cooked/seasoned perfectly! Based on other reviews, we took some out-of-town guests here for a nice dinner. Even though it was Friday evening, we were just one of a couple other parties in the restaurant. The quiet was nice, but the service was still mediocre considering we were the largest party in the restaurant. Almost all of us ordered steak. I was less than enthused when I ordered mine "Bloody" and it still came out medium. The cut was definitely a German cut of meat- think Rumpsteak. Don't get me wrong, the food was not awful, but it was nothing to write home about. I am positive that I can have a tastier steak dinner at home. If we return, I'll try a German dish or something else from the menu. The other items were much cheaper, so I would not be as disappointed if they were less than stellar. read more

I was pleasantly surprised as I walked into this restaurant. It was clean and had a nice atmosphere. Nice white cloth covered the tables and a folded napkin and silverware decorated them. We were quickly given the menus and left alone while we analyzed the menu. I ordered the 300g steak with pepper sauce and it was delicious! Great piece of meat and the sauce was delicious also. I got the Apfelstrudel for dessert and it was not bad. Overall, the food was good and the presentation of the food was good also. The service overall was decent. read more

We have looked at "Zur Burg" many times over the years during our tours in Germany; however, tonight we decided to try this restaurant out. Wow! We were stunned by the quality of everything from the appetizer to the Hauptgang. We had baked Camembert, Schnecken, Jaeger Schnitzel and Rib-eye steak. Everything was ausgezeichnet! Zur Berg is my new favorite place in Kaiserslautern. That's saying a lot after living in Wiesbaden for over 10 years. Echt altstil Deutsche Kuisine. read more
