I found 800-Got-Junk to be quite misleading. After being told a working TV to be removed would be recycled or donated at no charge, the reality was much different. The responding employees advised the charge would be $149. When challenged that it was to be free, their response was "we get that a lot," accompanied by laughter. Seems it was funny to them. Well, that would certainly indicate it's time to change the deceptive practice. So, instead of recycling to a home that could use a nice big screen TV, I will utilize E.J. Harrison's "2 large items per year" free pick-up service. read more

I had a very positive experience with Tom, Tony and Chuck. My mom has hoarder tendencies and has a hard time letting go of things. They were very patient and considerate when she would change her mind last minute about what she wanted to get rid of and what she wanted to keep. While they did end up coming a little late for the 2 hour window period, they apologized, informed me ahead of time, and kept me updated on their ETA. It's comforting to know they recycle and donate most items, which helped ease my mom's hang-ups about purging some of her stuff. FYI: They are able to come same-day, but might be late depending if they're busy (I called around 10 am for a 3:30 pm -5:30 pm time slot, but they came closer to 5:45 pm). They do no throw out chemicals, including old household cleaner bottles.They accept cash, credit card, and check. Pricing is done by volume, so try to break down bulkier items or keep things more compact/packed. Upon a brief inspection of the items to be removed, they provide an estimate that you can accept or decline before they begin. Bottom line: Though I found the rates to be pretty steep, especially considering it's well, junk, I was satisfied with the overall service. They were able to clear everything out in a timely manner and were very friendly. read more
