I then ask Jose if he would do an off-cycle cleaning where they take down all of the vines all at once. He quotes me $700 or something stupid like that. I decline. His guys come back. I ask them to keep going with a methodical removal. They say no, because Jose told them to stop. I call Jose and ask if they can continue with the slow but steady removal. He says no. It's unbelievable that I'm paying them to maintain my garden, but by saying no their up charge, he now REFUSES TO MAINTAIN A PLANT THAT'S PART OF THE GARDEN!? Unbelievably unprofessional. Again you had 3 of your guys coming each week, one mowing, one edging and one trimming shrubs. The one trimming the shrubs would not even reach the top back of the bush to trim. Maybe if you would supply your guys the correct size of a ladder they will reach it. They were using a 4 ft ladder. That's more of a stool for indoors. By the way you were the one that quite the job. You quite because I was telling you what your guys were not cutting or missing each week. If you dont check on your guys, then thats on you.

The issue is not with the actual work, but rather the business model and lack of communication. We have since moved on to another gardening service. Luis wants guaranteed business by charging a monthly fee to show up 2x/month year round. However, for simple lawn/hedge trimming and leaf clean-up, the amount he charges does not make sense. We struck a deal with him for ad hoc service, because nothing grows in the dry months of summer. However, we had a "no-call, no-show" during the rainy season when he had told us multiple weeks in a row that he would come by. When he finally showed up weeks later, he decided to charge us TWICE for overgrowth. Had he shown up the first time he said he would, that would not have happened. It seems he decided our business was no longer worth his time, so he decided to extract the most cash he could from us before we moved on. Needless to say, I cannot recommend Lona's to anyone after this experience.

We went through the stuff to trash and to keep. Fortunately for me he had some time the same week. He is very responsive when texting. On the day of the service, he gave me a heads up that he was running a little late, and adjusted the start time which he did keep. Please don't hold that against him! As a person, he is very polite, attentive to any concerns you may have, and overall seems like a very kind hearted individual. He was working with his Father, and had a couple of gentlemen to stop by to help pick up some of the heavier items. I was stuck inside myself, and by the time I could go outside I had a jungle of a few weeks. This time I was blessed because Scotty was actively looking to grow his business and responded. I couldn't have been more pleased. He was so careful with Covid guidelines and positive and willing to help me. Scotty has been a blessing. He has helped me keep my property in good shape all through the Covid year while I was overwhelmed with work. He even did an extra job planting some sod in the front of my house for me. I always look forward to his visit because he takes pride in his work. He will happily send you photos with a before and after if that will help you. He is open to doing additional small or large tasks for a fee and tries to fit you in his schedule to the best of his ability. My neighbors saw that he does a good job taking care of my property, and they asked for his business too. I would say that speaks highly of him.
