I told him the story of what the garden meant, and he took time to listen and console. He promised to show the garden the care my mom would have wanted -- and he did not disappoint! We needed a gardener very last minute this past weekend to prep our house for sale. We had already gotten landscaping done, but due to the rain our grass and other greenery had been growing out of control. Our front, side and backyard needed TLC ASAP! After reading their great Yelp reviews, I reached out to get a quote for our landscaping project. The quote was very reasonable so I hired them for the job. I don't understand what went wrong or where they get all of these good reviews. The quality of their work and communication was just awful. The brick border they laid around the backyard was laid down very carelessly. It's all very loose so if you were to step on one, you'll most likely break or roll your ankle. I would ask for certain things be done and Gonzalo would say "ok", then just not do it. I would ask again the next time he came by and again he would say "ok", but not do it. There was no communication from him about if he was unable to or didn't have the resources at that time to complete a project. Just an "ok" when I asked then he'd leave without saying anything. They completely butchered our existing sprinkler system and didn't say anything. They had removed some shrubs and in the process had cut through the sprinkler pipes and just left it. Also, I had purchased flowers that I asked Gonzalo to plant in an existing flower bed. Within a week the flowers were dead because he had just set them on top of the soil rather than plant them in it, which I didn't realize until it was too late. In the end he was dishonest about the original quote for the project. Just a terrible experience all around. read more

I contacted Gonzalo to give me an estimate on trimming a hedge around the property and do some pluming repair. He came out as scheduled to give me an estimate and said he could do the work. During the estimate, he changed the amount from $750 to $800 so I said I needed to compare it to other landscapers. I contacted him the following Monday to go forward with the job but he totally Ghosted me. Not a response after multiple text messages to him. Maybe he got nervous that he couldn't do the job but no response is very unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend this company for your job. read more

I get my 10 palm trees trimmed every year. This year my regular tree man was out of town so I called Gonzalo and Sons. They were willing to match the price of my regular man. This was an important factor because I am a senior citizen on a fixed income and this job has to be done every year. Gonzalo and his crew showed up on time and did everything he had promised to do. Gonzalo also stayed on the job with his workers, which was a big plus. I will be calling them again next year for sure! Last but not least I would like to mention that they even saved a nest of baby squirrels which was inadvertently cut down. They did such a great job on my yard!!!we fixed up my our yard a couple of years ago and I have been trying to find a company that does drought resistant yard maintenance for a while and I finally found a great one.I have a drought resistant yard which requires a lot of hand maintenance (not just the lawnmower and weed whacker)and they did a great job. They trimmed all of my plants, repaired/set up a drip-irrigation system (and set the timer for me), removed some weeds from a rock bed, and removed all that f the leaves! The yard looks amazing. My partner called Gonzalo & Sons and set up an appointment for me to meet them at our house. They showed up and I showed them the front area between the sidewalk and the street, which was over grown with weeds. As well as the hedges along the driveway. He quoted me $350 to WEED the front, and to trim hedges. I thought that was too much money, since I have done those exact same projects myself and didn't feel like it was too difficult or time consuming. I called my partner and told them it was too much money, and I wouldn't recommend doing it. But he really just wanted to get it done, so I told him, if you wanna do it, go ahead. I looked through the window at the hedges and they had cut ALL the green off the hedges, leaving them looking like something out of a horror film in the woods. I ran out and said why did you cut the leaves off, it looks horrible and dead. He said, oh, i'll bring back something to help it grow back (didn't do it). Then I went back in the house, came out to check on them shortly after and they were gone, couldn't have been there much more than an hour, maybe less. So I walked to see the "work" they had done outside, all the weeds were merely chopped off an inch above the soil. NOT WEEDED, just cut. Why would I want him to trim the weeds?! The entire reason for the call was to have the weeds REMOVED. No one ever calls a gardner to trim their weeds, they call to have them REMOVED. I told them that I wasn't going to pay $350 to have the weeds TRIMMED, and my hedges massacred, and we need to come up with a different price, or he needed to come do the ACTUAL job they were hired for... He chose to go to court. read more
