I have gone to #1 Nails several times for gel nail extensions. Each time, I ask for the same nail service - Gel Nail Extensions using pink & white gel. The first time, the nail tech Kim did a wonderful job, my Gel Nail Extensions with pink & white gel - was perfect! The second time, the nail tech Cynthia didn't understand what I wanted done -- Gel Nail Extensions using pink & white gel. She spoke to another nail tech and I thought everything was fine. However, while she worked on my gel nail extensions I decided to read a book. 20-minutes later, I look up find out that Cynthia hadn't started my gel nail extensions. Instead, she had given me a full-set of acrylic nails using pink and white acrylic. Needless to say, I wasn't thrilled, but at least my nails looked nice. In June I went a third time to #1 Nails, too bad I didn't recognize the nail tech. Unfortunately, the nail tech was Cynthia!!! However, this time Kim explained that I wanted gel nail extensions using pink white gel. FYI: Cynthia did not prep my nails - file, clean, and buff for gel nail extensions. Then Cynthia glued acrylic nails (supposed to use soft gel nail-tips that are attached using gel) to my natural nails, then the trouble began. I was not pleased... Cynthia needed to apply pink gel to my nail-beds and white gel to the tips of my fingernails. Easy. Well, she applied the thickest coat of white gel possible starting at the tips of my fingernails and went all the way down to the middle of each fingernail. It was so thick it looked like marshmallow!! She also applied the extremely thick coats of pink gel to the remainder of each fingernail. Next, it was time to stick my hands in the UV light... That's when the pain started, I learned the hard way, from Kim, that if gel is applied way too thick, the UV light feels like it's severely burning your fingernails. Each time I had to put my hands into the UV light, the pain lasted 26-seconds; I know, because when I placed my hands under the UV, I literally counted the seconds out loud to distract myself from pain!!! By the way, Cynthia applied two additional coats of extremely thick gel -- causing me to feel like my hands were being burnt with a blow-torch!! When done with the UV light, Cynthia began to use a nail dremel on my nails to smooth the gel. Instead of smoothing, all of that thick gel balled-up, fell away; she ended peeling the gel off my fingernails like Band-Aids...!! At that point, I asked Kim to re-do my nails. To top it off, Cynthia got mad and blamed me for the gel not sticking, because I kept pulling my fingers out of the UV light to cool off then putting them back in the UV light. In the end, my nails looked just okay, I was over charged $80 for crappy nails that within a few days started lifting along the edge of my fingernails!!! No I would not recommend anyone going there to get their nails done and I will never go there again. read more

I want to give this horrible business less than a star!! Do not Patron these horrible mean phony and money hungry people!!! I was yelled at by Jackie(he does this a lot) but he threw nail polish at me and I whispered to Kim I wouldn't be returning & she became irate and yelled at me for over 20 minutes to defend him calling me names in front of everyone! I cried and wanted to leave so she overcharged me and didn't put any top coat on my gel nails so they were ruined! Horrible mean and phony people who just want your money! Also, they don't want you to make any requests they get very angry and call you rude! read more

Please spare yourself and your wallet before choosing this location. It took 2 hours for my daughter to get a new set of nails. The women was new and took forever, she finally asked for help but we entered the salon at 4:00 pm and left just after 6. I explained to the "gentleman" at the front desk and he was rude and laughed at me when I explained I would like some sort of discount after all we have been in the salon for 2 hours. I will never return or recommend this place to anyone, including my enemies. read more

Its usually a treat to have my nails done but my experience at #1st Nails in Fairmount was anything but that. First she didn't remove all the old polish, then as she hurried through, nail polish was left on my cuticles. Then when she made a mistake by smudging the nail, she proceeded to polish over it with 2 more layers, which made it a total of 6 layers....too bulky looking, when I complained that the price charged to me was more than the listed price on the wall, she said well prices have gone up... had to go somewhere else to repair the mess read more

I genuinely enjoyed going here regularly for dip nails & had had my little girls (4, 4, & 6) in once before for manicures & pedicures. I made an appointment for them (after being asked when they were coming back in) for a Wednesday afternoon. Called on my way to say we might be late due to a road closure but we ended up arriving 3 minutes early. The girls went back quickly (great), one started on time (awesome), one waited 15 minutes (not a big deal). At that point they asked which of the two remaining wanted to go first. I said I'm a little confused because I made appointments but didn't really get a response. Finally after one was still waiting 30 minutes after our appointment time I went & asked if something had happened with the appointment I made. First she was telling me I was late which I defended & she apologized when she doubled checked the book. She then went on to say they were short & busy & there are people walking in etc. so to clarify I asked if she was saying she was taking walk-ins over my appointments. Apparently, that was the wrong thing to ask because then she came back to work on the one who waited 30mins clearly annoyed & told me "no more littles ones after this" & that they "don't sit still" even though none of them messed up one nail or got up or anything while having them done, She also continued saying they were short & busy & to understand- which I do understand but why she didn't just tell me that when I called (or when we got there) I do not understand. They also forgot to do one of girls' fingernails but we had been there for long enough so I said it's fine. By the end she was apologizing & saying they could come back & were great but honestly the damage was done. I was really disappointed with how it was handled. Sorry but can't go back or recommend a place that tries to place blame on you for their mistake. read more
