I recently went there for a trail class and I must say this is one of the best Ji Jitsu Gyms I've ever been at. The Coach Jon is an amazing teacher. I signed up my son for a Trial class at this Orange location based on their great reviews on Yelp. I was not contacted by anyone beforehand to let me know that the specific class I signed up for was going to be a belt ceremony for their current students. The main instructor did mention it to me when we arrived, but did not explain how long the ceremony portion would last. Unfortunately, it took up the majority of the class. We decided to leave with about 15 minutes left in the class as we had already wasted 45 minutes sitting there. I am not sure if they did anything else that class session or if the belt ceremony took up the entire class time. On our way out, the main instructor finally approached us about the situation, likely because we were leaving earlier. He apologized for the situation; but he should have told us from the get go that today's class wouldn't be a good one to use for our Trial class and to help coordinate another class to try out. It was too little too late and the poor customer service is exact reason why we will not be returning to this company. Additionally, the gym location was attached to the back of some other storefronts. The facility wasn't clean, there was random puddles of water on the floor by the bathroom, and the facility smelled really bad as if it hadn't been cleaned. Hopefully no one else has this poor experience like we did if they try it out. read more

I'm not one to do reviews on Yelp unless the business is really stellar and 10th Planet Orange EXCEEDS that bar. I've trained under the founder of 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu (Eddie Bravo) in DTLA for 5+ years and ended up training here after moving to the OC area. The instructions/teachings here is just as exceptional as the DTLA/HQ location. It may even be better as the classes are smaller so the instructors are able to manage/assist the students better. The instructors and several of the regular students are also high level competitors with lots of experience and jiu jitsu knowledge. Highly skilled practitioners who are very down to earth and friendly to all. If you're thinking about trying Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for the first time or a practitioner who is looking for a new home, I highly recommend checking out this gym! This is honestly such an amazing BJJ school and is highly underrated. I first heard about this gym after asking a high level BJJ partner at AOJ where she learned her leg attacks (something that many schools neglect and I failed at). From the first day, this gym was extremely welcoming and worked with me on all my confusion on heel hooks and half guard. Professor Jon breaks down the most confusing attacks and provides simplified steps to create and defend them. I've learned more about leg attacks and half guard techniques in the 2.5 months being there than the year and a half at other schools. Had my first class yesterday (11 am class). Great instructions, very detailed and I love how the coaches broke down the drill so it's easy to understand. I met coach John Cho and one thing that really surprised and spoke volumes for me was that he partnered up with me for the class. Usually coaches will have another student work with a new student, but I thought it was great leadership that coach John actually partnered up with me because I was new. This shows that they actually care about their students and want them to feel welcome. He helped make my first day there so much easier and I had less anxiety because of that! I signed up instantly.
