The 16,000-square-foot playground was made possible by a $400,000 fundraising campaign. The playground is named for John "Bodie" Vaccino", a local Milford boy who was born with cerebral palsy. When he was younger, his parents took him to a boundless playground called Hannah's Dream in New Haven. Bodie was able to play with his sister, Emma, as if he had no limitations. His parents then set a project in motion to bring a similar playground to their hometown of Milford. They didn't want a playground just for children with disabilities, but rather a community play mecca for kids of all abilities. The playground was designed by John Hollerbach, owner of Creative Recreation, who has worked on other projects associated with the nonprofit Boundless Playgrounds. An adjoining splash pad opened in July 2018. My family and I recently visited Bodie's Place Playground while we were on our summer break from school. My wife and I are always looking for good playgrounds for our sons, and we heard lots of great things about Bodie's Place. The playground actually features 2 large playscapes: one intended for younger children (ages 2-5) and another intended for older children (ages 5-12). We thought that both playscapes were equally impressive. After our sons played on them for a while, they changed into their swimsuits and headed on over to the equally impressive splashed. Both of our sons had a blast! I must also note that there are plenty of amenities at the park, including bathrooms, pavilions, picnic tables and benches available at the park. We highly recommend Bodie's Place Playground to families with small children and look forward to returning!

I also enjoy the track that circles the complex. I have seen as many as 8 species of birds. This would be a 5 star revue except for the people who toss trash all over. There are plenty of trash bins but the parking lot and basketball courts have too much trash. Another issue that might only upset me is some people let their dogs use the facility without having them on leashes. And in October of 2014, some idiot let their dog use 2 basketball courts as a toilet. Great facility, poorly behaved citizens.

I have gone to this facility for many basketball games and tournaments over the years. There is not…read morenearly enough parking to accommodate the many games, practices, parties and events that they hold each weekend. As a result, it is extremely unsafe. Many people have to park on the far away road and then walk up the long driveway where there is no sidewalk or path. I have had to walk that long driveway in the snow and in the dark. I'm surprised no pedestrians have been hit or injured yet! There is also a spot at the end of the building's sidewalk that has been covered in ice all winter long. I don't understand why the town zoning allows them to host tournaments and other events without adequate parking.

Plenty of parking and beach area to walk or relax on. You can walk to the Audoban land from a part of the beach which is a level and easy walk that offers great views and a view of the Stratford Point Lighthouse. There are several pavilions for rent get togethers. There are resident and non residents seasons passes or a daily charge (more for non residents). There is also an adjacent golf course. it is a livelyovely setting and quite sure it's very popular and packed during the summer season, but opened all year long.

Beware of Planet Fitness' shady billing practices! I was…read morecharged over $120 for less than 2 months and my first month was only $1 to join Please share!!!! I signed up for a membership on January 22, thinking I was joining a gym with fair and transparent policies. Instead, I got hit with unexpected fees and zero communication. On February 17, they attempted to charge my primary payment method, which didn't go through. Instead of simply charging my secondary payment method (which they have on file!), they slapped me with a $20 late fee and then charged my backup payment anyway. No email, no call, no notification--just an extra fee with no explanation. Then, two weeks later, they charged me a $50 annual fee, plus another $20 late fee--again, without any notice! And despite my concerns, they refused to remove the second late fee, even though they had no valid reason for it. Planet Fitness' billing system is ridiculous. If you have two forms of payment on file, why not just charge the second one before adding a late fee? It's clear they care more about squeezing extra fees out of people than actually providing fair service. If you're considering joining, DON'T...beware of their deceptive billing practices!
