Amazing drinks and food to enjoy while sitting on the rooftop deck. We were pleased with our experience at SBC in SSM. This place has amazing food. They have an amazing handmade pretzel with homemade beer cheese and mustard. Also, their Climax pizza was out of this world. We enjoyed the Huskador IPA and their Rose' wine. Tried out for dinner, order placed at bar, only a few beer offerings and 3 wine offerings, they were out of some of their beer offerings, very limited bar election. No iced tea or lemonade, did have pop/soda. For food we went with a pizza and chicken wrap ~ wrap came out first was incorrect as cook added onions (requested none), bar tender was gracious and once she returns to table with the pizza informed and she had cook correct item. Fries were nothing special just plain fries, wrap was not impressive. Pizza was very cheesy (if you like LOTS of cheese you'll love it, I personally do not). I am a lover of wine. My husband and I were on vacation and walking around and he wanted to stop here for beer. I was happy to oblige since they also have wine, and some food. I got a glass of their sangria (since they only had 6 wines to choose from that day). I felt it was overly sweet and didn't enjoy it. We also got their cheese and cracker appetizer to share. I felt for the price, that one VERY small block of 4 kinds of cheese wasn't worth the price. I liked the cheese and crackers, don't misunderstand me. But for $10, I thought we should get bigger pieces of cheese. I would certainly come again, if i'm in the area. But I would have to choose different wine. read more

Saw a billboard for this place as we drove into the Sault and decided to try it. Pretty good call. The dining room is small, clean, and tasteful, the beer and food we had were good. Only three brews were on offer when we went, and we chose the Summer Wheat. Similar to Bell's Oberon, but a little fuller in body. Very satisfying. We ordered burgers and they came medium just as ordered. Meat was a little bland, but I've certainly had worse. Overall I was happy with mine. You have the option of getting your beer in a pint or in a goblet-like 17 oz. "fishbowl" for the same price ($4--not bad for a craft brew). We didn't try any wines. Most are fruit flavored, though there is a merlot, a riesling, and one other white. The 1668 has an outdoor patio, which is where most customers were on the warm summer evening we visited. The menu is so attractive but the reality is disappointing. Two options for beer, three for wine. That's it? You promote yourself as a winery and brewery. At least try to make that happen. Food descriptions were tantalizing but the actual items were meh. Long list of tasty sounding burgers on the menu but they were out of burgers. Really? Go in with the right expectations. Stopped by here on our boat visit to the soo locks. A good amount of outdoor seating, but were really understaffed on the night we were there, with only the bartender serving, bussing, etc... I'd recommend the burgers, and the ipa. read more

We sat outside and watched a freighter until it got chilly. Good beer! Nice waitress. I saw live music on Saturday. My mom and I got burgers and they were huge!!! And soooo good. They came with either kettle chips or celery and carrots. We were the only ones on the patio! It was a nice and quiet place to eat. I'm glad we ended up here! November 22, 2019 visit. Ok. You guys. This place unfortunately is not very good. The gals at the bar were fantastic. For a winery to have only one red available, a sweet horrible homebrew taste, was sorta shocking. We gave an appetizer a try, the cheese plate. Picture bad grocery store cheeses tossed on a piece of wood with near stale crackers. Barren and cold atmosphere. Just. Not. Good. We ended up down the street at Karl's. Great experience all around. Went on Sunday evening for pizza and wine. We were one of two couples. Just a traditional cheese and pepperoni pizza. It was served quickly and it was hot and delicious- my husband and I ate the entire thing! We split the wine flight. Typical Michigan wines. Two were fruity- raspberry and black cherry. The white wine had a heavy alcohol aftertaste. The merlot was ok and paired well with the pizza. Great service by the only employee I could see (we think she cooked our pizza too). The deck was nice with good music but didn't have a great water view. My only complaint was that you can't buy a bottle of wine for the table. Only by the glass. read more

How am I the first reviewer? That seems weird to me since pretty much everywhere else in town has been reviewed at least once. We did pizza takeout and it was pretty good. I liked the marinara sauce on the pepperoni. My husband wanted the pesto chicken pizza and it was ok, but I really prefer red sauce on my pizza. It's hard for a New Yorker to enjoy pizza elsewhere but this was doable for me. We will go in sometime to try other stuff but we just had a hankering for pizza tonight. The only wait staff working the afternoon was overworked. She was super friendly but had some demanding out of towners. She deserved more help. Limited beer menu (three) to choose from but the River Red was solid. I ordered the Murph burger which was supposed to have hot sauce on it. There was nothing spicy about it but it was still a good burger. Pizza was rated very good by my picky husband and daughter. Son loved his spicy Italian panini. Had lunch there today. I had their bourbon burger and it was so good. It was the right kind of messy and juicy that makes a great burger. It came with kettle chips, those were run of the mill but that's okay. It's the curse of the side haha. I also had one of their fruity wine selections (pineapple, something, and black cherry) it was delicious and crisp too! I have always had a great experience every time I have been in there. We went there for lunch in the middle of the week so there was no one there and she barely gave us service. We called to her politely when we were ready to order and she ignored us. We came in expecting it to be a simple wine tasting, but they actually have a full menu of food (we just stuck to wine). The wine was pretty good, but everything was on draft, so not sure how that affects the taste. We bought one bottle to take home. Tried this place based on other Yelp reviews. I would not recommend it to others. The beer (from the same owner Soo Brewery) is ok, the wine was less-than-ok. There are two huge outdoor areas plus the indoors. There was a bartender, one server, and someone cooking. Every table indoors was filled with dirty dishes, but without patrons. The bar was stacked with dirty glasses. The bartender actually said, "normally this looks better, don't take a picture for Yelp." We had panini's that were nothing special, and not cooked enough to be a panini. Overall, there were not enough servers which made the mediocre food and drink even less appealing. read more

My wife and I were on an old folks bus tour and we got away from the rest of the old folks and ended up here quite by chance. My wife had the ham and cheese sandwich and I had a hamburger both were excellent. Our server Risa was friendly and very efficient. I would certainly stop here again if in the area. We had a great time with our daughter at the 1668 Winery & Lockside Brewery. We arrived a little early, about noon for lunch and drinks while we waited for our Soo Locks Boat Tour. The waitress/hostess was so accommodating, she really went above and beyond to make our family feel welcome. We had the IPA and white wine to start, both were better than expected and enjoyable. My daughter had a "Sheerly Temple" with about five cherries, which she called the best she ever had! We ordered the Smoked Whitefish Dip and absolutely loved it - probably the best I have ever had (I order this often when I see it on the menu at other restaurants). We also ordered the BLT Pizza, which was fantastic...I found myself eating the crust, which I usually don't do to avoid the extra calories. We totally enjoyed our time at the restaurant and would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a good drink and even better meal. read more
