Stopped in for a couple pints. The Red Ale was very good, I found it complex with some faint licorice notes and toffee. The pale ale was almost a farmhouse saison style, somewhat earthy. I wasn't fond of the Grand Cru or the actual Farmhouse/Saison. Usually I love those. The beertender was friendly and helpful. They have a wine section next door. There are rooftop tables and also street side tables for the nice days. I would recommend, and return if back in the area. Just sorry they aren't on the Tag-A-Brew trail.

Soo Brewing doesn't put a lot of effort into cultivating its atmosphere, which possibly is what makes it pleasant. It's a bit roughshod yet homey: walls lined with brewing memorabilia, picnic tables and old couches for seating, games to help pass the time (or divert the kids while parents enjoy a beer in peace), most importantly, friendly people behind the counter. Order from them, then take your pints back to your seat. Five beers were on offer when we went. Tasting portions are sold individually, but if you buy four they throw in the fifth free, so we got to sample the full array (and the peanuts-in-the-shell at each table were welcome for clearing our palates between sips) . A session IPA and a stout were both excellent, and I wasn't as keen on a brown ale at first, but it grew on me. The light lager was, well, everything a macro-brew lover would hope for. Our favorite in the flight was a strong ale called "Crystal Blue Persuasion" that hid the alcohol well behind a mild fruitiness. We would have gotten a glass if the keg hadn't run out just before we went to order it! Settled for the IPA--on a cooler night the stout would have been the call. Aside from the occasional clattering of 2x4 Jenga blocks some kids were playing with, the place was pretty quiet. Crowd looked like a pretty even mix of tourists and locals. As long as you like good beer, you'll feel like you belong here.

This was by far my favorite place when we visited the Soo. It was a great night for the flights. I didn't know what the beer was all about so I asked the owner to give me his favorite as one flight and the darks as the other. Not a single disappointment in the 2, although there was a duplicate. We enjoyed playing youthful games while sipping. There was a wonderful atmosphere and very roomy tables to share with the community, family style.

Favorite spot in the Soo!! Very family friendly! Sounds crazy right?!? A family friendly brewery?!? They not only have some of best brews in the UP but they also have THE BEST Rootbeer. My kids will vouch, the Soo Brewery now sets the rootbeer standard! We spent a rainy night, playing board games and enjoying some brew. We even brought a growler of the good stuff home for them.

Keeping cool while waiting for the ferry.

While on a winter day trip through the Soo, we tried to go see the locks and the sights. The locks were not visible and the there isn't much else to see, so we found ourselves looking for good place to eat lunch and grab a drink. There were 4 of us that walked in with the lunch we packed and found a nice spot on the couches. We ate sandwiches and all had a different Soo brew in their cozy lounge. With all of the board games and comfy seating available, it feels like a comfy basement with a storefront view. If I lived in the area, I would be a regular. However, as a day tripping tourist, I was happy to have a great hand crafted beer in my hand and able to eat my own lunch with friends on a couch.

Found this great spot in the Soo while visiting over the holiday. Good variety of beers for everyone in your group. Brandon is a very knowledgeable on the beers and wines that are available, very friendly and was able to find a great wine for my wife that doesn't drink beer. Tasty selection of foods, but it is really the friendly service that will keep you coming back.

Had a nice couple rounds of beer, sitting on the patio. Beer was good, the folks were friendly.

I had the cup of the day porter which was very smooth and an easier porter to drink.

We stumbled onto this absolute gem right across from our hotel, and it exceeded every expectation. We were a family of six, so we waited about 20 minutes for a table, and it was completely worth it. Once seated, our server was warm, attentive, and made us feel right at home. We tried a bit of everything: hamburgers, fish tacos, carrot cake, and tiramisu, and every single dish delivered. The rustic, homey atmosphere just added to the charm. If you're ever passing through Paradise, do yourself a favor and stop in. This place is a hidden gem worth the trip!

It recommended one business that looks like it has been out of business for many years and then this place. I had high hopes when we walked in as it's a very cool ambience, a really nice bar area As you can see from the pictures from the menu, the majority of the foods here are fried. I did ask if there was a way to get the white fish broiled grilled or baked and that was a hard 'no'. I also asked if I could get the hot honey sandwich grilled instead of fried, and that was a no as well. Unfortunately, I cannot eat fried foods so I decided to go with the pulled pork option since they had a really nice looking barbecue station outback. The food arrived very quickly, service is very friendly I did take one bite of my husband's white fish and it was tasty- so if you can eat fried foods, this is the way to go My pulled pork, however, tasted like a bottle of salt was dumped on it. I tried three or four bites. I could not eat it. Yes, I did let them know and she offered to bring something else, but there really wasn't anything else that I could comfortably eat. She did remove it from our bill, which I appreciated. I will say, this is a very rare occurrence for me to simply not eat something that was brought to me, but it was that bad. They do charge a 3% up charge for credit card so bring your cash Four stars is for the whitefish and the service
