Was I supposed to drive all the way there and find out the appointment was canceled. Also when our appointment was rescheduled, we sat directly in front of the window and no one came to door. The closed sign was out and the front light was not turned on. Someone did peek out the window and knew we were there but did not come to the door. While sitting there another groomer came to work; so at least two people knew we were there. No respect for her clients. Don't waste your time here. In addition if they treat humans this way what about your pet?

I didn't realize how matted he was from two months of no grooming. Bree was so sweet and kind, she cleaned him up and called me to tell us that his tail would have to be shaved because it was so matted. She wanted to make sure it was alright with us. I know that our dog has great and loving care when he is there. I schedule his appointments early in the morning, around 730am with Bree. Our dog is the only one Bree works on at this time and he's usually done in 2 hours. This is unlike PetSmart in which you drop off your dog in the am and then pick up in the pm because they do so many dogs at once. I know our dog is not going to be placed wet and cold into a crate while the groomer works on another dog. We are from the West Coast and when we moved here we didn't know where to go for grooming. We had two poodles but one has since passed over the Rainbow Bridge. Poodles need good and patient groomers. Gwen's has been great with my request not to have our white poodle be shaved with a size 40 razor since he is sensitive and gets skin burns easily. The cons are that they are disorganized with scheduling. There have been several times when I have scheduled an appointment, I called to confirm, and then being told there is no appointment. We were very spoiled by our previous groomer on the West Coast. She was an excellent groomer. She did not require yearly immunizations for our dogs. Another con is that we must have yearly immunizations for our dogs. If you are a holistic pet owner and you want to vaccinate every 3 years, then you could not bring your dog here. On a scale of 1-10, Gwen's grooming is a 7. It is not excellent. I have had two excellent groomers in the past. It is not bad grooming either. I would rate this as above average. I can live with the cons as long as I know my dog is safe and being groomed individually. I am confident Gwen's will take excellent care of my dog.

I just move on, but was so…read moredisappointed and disheartened at my dog's first grooming after moving back to Iowa from The Groom Station in West Branch, Iowa and not hearing back from the owner in response to my disappointment, that I feel the need to do so, for whatever it is worth. Not with $20 let alone $126. Here are pics of her recent groom job yesterday. I asked that they keep her long and that didn't happen and instead even shaved her bald in sections and very uneven everywhere. She didn't even have any mats yet, but that was her excuse. The pics don't even do it justice. Update: The owner did reach out and refunded the visit. She did want me to bring my dog back in for her to see (which I initially took offense to as if she didn't believe the obvious pictures but that is not why according to her).By then it would not look exactly the same since I had to do something to try to even things out while it grew out and I didn't want to cause my dog undue stress since I was not going to have anyone else mess with her at this time.. Luckily, it will grow back and eventually be back to normal but would be hard for me to be okay with same shop even with different groomer at this point.

Animal Care Hospital got me in within just a day or two. Everyone was pleasant and I got what I needed. The second time, there was some miscommunication about some charges for wellness exams that weren't disclosed on the reminder email/cards and weren't disclosed when I made the appointment or during the appointment. I was upset about it when I checked out and let my displeasure be known when I got their "How did we do?" email a couple days later. But the owner contacted me personally and made it right. He was so kind and considerate despite my very frustrated email to them and the fact that I missed the first voicemail he sent because my phone crapped out and had to be reset. I didn't get it until two weeks later and felt terrible about it. I like leaving great reviews for great service because I think good experiences go unnoticed and unacknowledged most of the time. So even though the second office visit wasn't like the first, I still must give them credit, especially on the owner level, for being considerate, etc. So if you're looking for a good vet and need prompt service, call them. I would just make sure you clarify when wellness exams are needed and ask for the information upfront when you make the appointment.

My lab Samantha has had two cancer surgeries performed by Dr. Hickey and she is still here at 13 and doing quite well. I also want to say that the techs and the front desk people are fantastic. When you find a good Doctor you stick with them.
