My wife and I had a truly wonderful time! We had a late check in, but the owner Chris, gave us perfect entry instructions and even warned us of the auto lights by our room. Lovely private bedrooms with updated bathrooms. Stayed in the Griffin Room, and we loved it! Perfect homebase for the wedding weekend. Located wonderfully on the main drag, we were able to get dinner, coffee and lunch all within walking distance! The breakfast part of our stay was really so lovely. Chris was a delight to talk to, had lots of recommendations locally, was very funny, and the food was delicious. It was such a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and Chris really was a character. Being local, he had so many stories of the area, of the house itself, the process of updating it, and incredibly funny stories of some of the events they've had. The wedding couple followed up with us asking if we would recommend the 1812 House in the future, and we mentioned that it is on our list to stay if we return to the Tug Hill!

One of the staff members was very friendly and I looked her a lot, always remembered what my wife and I were drinking. The overall atmosphere is pretty good, but this place is probably only suitable for weddings under 50 people; if you can live with creaky floors and that giant wood beam upstairs.

This is the most amazing building in Central New York! We had no idea it even existed, except there…read morewas an outdoor craft fair going on and inside they were doing hourly tours. The place just goes on and on, and the restoration is immaculate. The first two floors are perfect for weddings, receptions and even a honeymoon. The top floors are what really grabbed out attention. He booked us in cottage 32 with an amazing view of the lake and a front and back patio. The back patio faces Harpoon Eddie's and both nights we sat on the balcony and listened to the bands play. The cottage was extremely clean and provided clean linens and towels. This two bedroom, one bath, full kitchen, and living room area were perfect! We were about 20 feet from the beach and enjoyed all of the picnic tables and lounge chairs provided by the cottage. There are also grills available if you would like to pickup groceries from the store down the road and enjoy a cookout. We will definitely be back again! I highly recommend this place if you're in the area and want a beautiful beachfront view!
