Way to ruin our Sunday... in town for some errands and short on time. Plenty of seats around and I was in a good mood... Cheerfully asked if it was ok if I sat across so we could pick where to get food from (he just sat an hour by me at the nail salon)... the girl said a speech and ended with "no". Well guess who's paying bud... ME. Zero tip. A whole hour feeling hangry and not being able to pick food to be delivered to my parents or ready for pick up. She also took longer than other guys that were there at the same time. Now I have to head back to the country so our animals don't get eaten by coyotes while starving. I spent roughly 15 years going to the same barber at V's in Arizona. I got the Whole Deal and it was a treat to myself. Moved back to Texas and spent two years during the pandemic to find someplace similar: one that offered a great shave, beard trim, skin treatments, and endless hot towels. I found it at 18|8 with Jan. Her touch is like a butterfly landing on a tulip. Her attention to beard trims is mathematical. I've had other stylists/barbers here and they were all great. I brought my son for a haircut 5/17/25. We usually pay less for his haircut but I wanted him to have an upscale experience. The hairdresser cut his hair in 20 minutes left it wet and horribly uneven. We were hoping to receive a high quality haircut and we did not get what we paid for. We were so disappointed in the experience. Do not come here expecting higher quality. It was $60 for a 20 minute uneven cut. We sent in photos and they agreed it was a bad cut. Hairdresser was Sarah. Front desk receptionist Rowan, was polite but kept changing different options for rectifying the problem. He even stated that the hairdresser had a good connection with my son. I came in for a classic haircut and beard trim. My hair was dirty from being outside all day and sweating, but they didn't bother to wash it before starting the cut. The beard trim was uneven, and they also nicked my neck with the clippers or scissors, leaving red marks. Overall, not a professional experience. Unfortunately, this was my first and last visit. The entire service took no more than 30 minutes. Since it was my first visit, I paid $79 with a discount (not including tip). Without the discount, the regular price would have been anywhere from $85 to $100. read more

I wish I would of read the reviews before going. For $59 plus $12 tip intro price for being first timer. I was very disappointed, to start off the prices are misleading. The chair that I sat at seemed to be broken as I was too far back and my stylist was not able to fix it. My stylist Portia was 15min late to my appointment which I was told they could only take 30min to cut my hair. Not sure why as no one came after me and there was only one other person getting their haircut. Why the rush? I was very unhappy with my cut, as it was not what I wanted. I can get the same wrong haircut at Great Clips for less. The haircut is good but not what I wanted. The person at the entrance was very friendly but was eating while trying to answer my questions. A name tag would be nice too so we can address the person correctly. Please provide them a break so they can enjoy their meal in privacy. I was informed that my stylist was on the high end for my next visit at almost $80 before tip. Not sure if I will be coming back. The complimentary drink is a nice touch. I don't mind spending money on a good haircut with someone who spends time on your hair. But what I received was a very bad haircut they spent 15 minutes rushing through with quick wash at the end. Criminal to charge 75$ for that. Would not reccomend to anyone. read more

I had a really poor experience the last time here. I usually have a decent cut, but this time my stylist was very crunched on time. I didn't feel like I had the time to talk about what I wanted up front. When I asked for an adjustment at the end it was made very quickly and done poorly for my head shape. At the very end there was a passive aggressive comment that really made the experience poor for me. I was told that the stylist would "update her notes so that she didn't have to do two full haircuts next time" This stylist even knows that I have been trying to update and change my hairstyle from previous cuts but seemed to just want to get in and do what we did last time and move on because she was behind schedule from an earlier appointment. read more

Once again I followed my stylist to a new salon. Elizabeth is the best and has been cutting my hair for close to a decade now. I was a little worried that she had moved to a men's-only clientele salon, but the person on the phone assured me they did women's hair too (just no hot tools). So I booked. Green Garage in the Domain is the closest garage to 18|8's location. There were complimentary drinks available but I didn't feel like one. The chairs were massive, which was a little weird, but the stations were super nice and separated by partitions, instead of everyone out in the open like in some other barber shops. Finding places to do Mens facial is very challenging and this 18|8 call themselves as mens salon specialist and hence I booked their grooming service. But a big mistake I booked 60 min -EXECUTIVE SKINMETICS FACIAL and the and the service description says - "A luxury men's organic, spa facial using an award-winning men's condition-specific line with organic ingredients. Includes cleansing, mask, hydration and facial steaming" But in reality they did 4 times face wash and cleaned with hot towels in under 25 minutes ‍ and when asked about facial steamer and response was it's the hot towel and no clue about mask. When asked at the counter, they added some discount Reading online reviews, I almost got tempted to buy their membership...narrow escape Guys, this facial is not at all worth of 70/90 bucks. read more

We had a barber for the longest who disappeared during the Covid shut downs. We had not found the right fit until now. Jan is great! I am not sure if inflation has gotten so bad that 67 dollars can not get you a decent haircut. Had an been going to the domain location for some time and had no issues. Just got my hair cut by Keayondra and it felt like I was just rushed out the door. I sat down showed pictures she just instantly started cutting no sectioning no nothing. Just get them out the door so you can cut the next persons hair. Honestly save your money do not think you are paying for anything other that what is basically a Supercuts haircut. Please find somewhere else better to get a haircut. Please save your money and go else where. read more

Received the worst haircut of my life here. I provided very clear reference photos from a past haircut from elsewhere, and the Barber seem to have no clue how to achieve the same look. She kept making comments that made me feel like she didn't know what she was doing and that she lacked basic understanding of her tools. I used to go to 18 eight years ago in Dallas and trying out this location at the domain reminded me why I stopped going. This is to the owner of the salon. This was my first time visiting your business. I'm a business owner myself. I came in couple of days ago to see if anyone was available. Unfortunately everyone was booked but your receptionist scheduled me for today at 2pm. I was on my way, running from west lake, and got stuck in traffic. BUT I called in at 1:59pm and said that i'm sorry but i'm running a few minutes late. They said that's ok. Parked my car at 2:08 on the parking lot near by and got to the door at 2:10. Receptionist tells me that my hairstylist can't do full haircut. Can't do full haircut because i'm 10 min late? and she has a gut to respond "it's 12 minutes not 10....and it's our policy"... I lived all over US New York, DC, Chicago, Miami, LA, and in few European countries, and yet to come across even in the most exclusive and most expensive salons that samone has told me i'm 12 minutes late and i can't get a full haircut. 0 stars, teach your staff that even late client is better then none. And tell your receptionist she works in Austin not in Beverly Hills. read more

Really great salon experience, services and outcomes. I've been looking for a new stylist here in Austin and found some really good people at some of the places right near my home. But when I started looking for who was the best stylist in Austin, going through all those lists, including a couple here on Yelp by searching Google for "Best austin men's stylist", I found 18|8 only 10 minutes from home in the domain next to the Whole Foods (another bonus for getting those few things I can only buy there instead of TJ's, Central or HEB). Anyway, the keg is fresh, the wine was solid, the atmosphere relaxed, hip and private. The staff as always is what made it a truly great experience, and just as wonderful outcomes. New haircut works well, Autumn rocked it, understood my issues, my wishues and my tissues (oh, that was so terrible I'm just going to leave it for eternity). She basically took care of my style perfectly with a little bit of her own flares. Nice trim up on the neckline etc too. Portia was great for both MANicure and Pedicure, and my face is still fresh and rejuvenating this morning from the Skinmetics facial treatment - though I would have probably been better if I stuck to water on my birthday instead of doing a Deep Eddy Vodka dinner pairing :) Great day all around obviously, made better by this salon. They have a lot of constantly changing staff and this results in inconsistent experiences. I have had good cuts there and some that truly were awful and made me frustrated I ever went there. I hope they get this fixed but I don't think I will go back. read more

I don't get it. I've gone twice, and only went the second time because it was easier than trying to find a different barber/stylist. Neither time did I think the haircut was anything amazing, I mean it's just razor and scissors. But both times the total was around $60. For a haircut. The much-touted beer is just weird when you go mid-day. They don't have regular water. Always water with some trendy fruit/vegetable blend in it like cucumber and papaya. One day I went there it was 100 degrees and my choices were beer, wine, or a Coke. The haircut is competent but, come on, $60 worth? Plus, they have no "please stop talking to me" option. I don't want to be rude, but not everyone likes making tedious small talk, and an attentive person in a service role will notice that. The first time I went I was attended by an older woman who picked up on it and didn't keep haranguing me. The second time was with a guy who just wouldn't be quiet, which is at best annoying. But then he started talking about politics and how nobody should have kids because of global warming and blah blah blah. Both times when I've gone up to pay the receptionist has been deep in conversation with one of the stylists, and I had to stand there and wait for them to finish talking before they would complete the transaction. The first time they were making fun of a guy who had just gotten a haircut. read more

I really wanted to like this place but my experience was just ok. The place is relatively nice but not quite as upscale as I expected based on the website. I liked that each station has a sink built in so I didn't have to get up and down. My stylist was very nice and talkative but I really didn't get the haircut I wanted. It was far shorter than I expected and the cut was a bit fast-paced. After a quick style I was on my way. When I got home and on to a work Zoom meeting, my boss immediately asked if I had gotten a mohawk. Ouch. I'm not kidding. Unfortunately the cut is so short that my receding hairline is super obvious. The experience is great, from start to finish. Autumn is my stylist and is the best I have ever had. Her attention to detail is impeccable, performing any men's cut to perfection. She can work miracles with a beard as well, for those of you in the beard club. My favorite, of Autumn's many fantastic attributes, is that she is a kind soul, raw and authentic. She is amazing with my 9 year old son who loves to push the limits on a casual trendy style. They will carry on a conversation the whole time she creates her masterpiece, with him leaving full of smiles and satisfaction every time.
