If you have curly hair. Good luck. Went in to get a low taper fade. And ended up having a high taper fade and side too short along with the barber asking me what to do. I could tell he didn't know how to cut curly hair. Even after I showed him videos and pictures, I left out of there very disappointed. Never coming back here again. Andrew M has cut my hair twice and while it's a simple cut Andrew does it really well and if you don't feel like chatting you don't get pressured into it. I can't speak for the other barbers, but I've visited: Bearded Barber (Anderson), Honest Barber (Burnet), and Finleys (Burnet) and while they are all in the ~50 price range Andrew will get you an equally good cut for less. This place is just awful. The first time I came in, this extremely snotty woman saw me and she didn't listen to what I asked for and cut things way too short on top. And didn't wash my head off after the haircut which left my scalp itching causing me to abandon everything and go home to shower. The second time I came, a much nicer man worked on me but he didn't listen. I showed pictures and said over and over and over what I wanted and he cut the top of my head way too short again. WOW what a bad hair cut. I was looking for a new place because the girl that has cut me hair for the past 8 years moved to Dallas. I called Floyds shop I asked for someone with experience. I'm not going to mention his name but I was told he had 23 years of experience. I told him what I wanted even showed pictures. Not even close. I left with bangs what the hell. I part me hair on the left side a comb it to the right is a fade style cut. If you go to this location and thy recommend someone with 23 years of experience you should ask for someone else. I scheduled my much needed haircut and took off of work, submitted vacation time, and showed up for my haircut. I sat for about 20 minutes waiting and just let them know I was leaving. I get that stylists can fall behind, but communication is everything. I will gladly wait to come in and would appreciate a heads up prior to taking off time from work to get a service. It really would have been different if the staff would have taken the time to talk to me in lieu of letting me show up, if the stylist was so far behind. Update: I got a call at 5:36 from the salon, asking me where I was for my 5:30 appointment. I called back and explained I had a 5 pm apt I left bc they didn't communicate how late they cut would be. I was initially sat with a barber, and there was a miscommunication (probably on my part) about length and my lack of knowledge on guard lengths. The result was me losing one of my sideburns before I knew what to do. This unfortunate mishap could not be fixed, and would have to be replicated on the opposite side. After a small moment of panic, I was sat with another barber who offered me a solution as to shaping my now non existent sideburns with a razor to "define" them more. He was incredibly attentive and friendly, made sure to listen to my concerns and I ended up with a really solid cut. They also comped my haircut, and apologized profusely. I made sure to tip both the barbers, regardless of whether or not there was a mistake, they did an incredible job customer service wise to remedy the issue. I would advise, have a picture of someone you want to be cut like, or a general idea/knowledge of guard lengths. After all is said and done, I would still very highly recommend Floyd's 99. Floyd's 99 Barbershop at North Lamar, Austin, Texas: I just wanted a simple haircut, and I was very disappointed of the barber, Nick C and his work. Therefore, I highly do NOT recommend him. The funniest point is that, I showed him 4 photos and asked just to mimic. He even couldn't mimic the haircut in the photos I showed; because he didin't look at them carefully. He also looked to be rude; -I told him the style I had before, and he kind of mocked. That style was done by other stylist (who left Floyd's 99 Barbershop) and I was satisfied with their work so asked the same length of cut. Then, he (Nick C.) asked where did that barber go. :D I said, I don't know, I don't care where the stylist went, it is their life. Then, I guess he kind of I asked why I didin't go to my previous barber. (Man, it is non of your business.). My plans are changed spontaneously, and I had to leave the town the day my previous barber is off. To sum up, he does not know what to talk to his client. I'd strongly recommend him just not to talk and concentrate on his job. - Also, when I wanted just to quickly look at the mirror (during the time where he was not working on my hair), he said "straight !! straight !!". I said, "okay, but just want to see the length you cut." - He (Nick C.) also did not dry my hair until after I asked him; and while drying he kind of kept the dryer to the same place too long that I had skin burning pain for 2-2.5 hours. When I arrived home and washed my hair, the parts he left on the side was too long, because he cut my hair when it was wet, which might be misleading while cutting, and should be taken into account correspondingly "the very simplest point a barber must know!". read more

UPDATE! It's been over a week and I've emailed the company twice after they asked me to. No response, this company wants you to think that they care, but it seems to be only for optics. One of their employees cut off half my hair and they can't even respond to my emails. I usually love this place, but they screwed me over so hardcore. I have been growing an undercut out for two years and the hairs on the side of my head by my ears were really annoying, so I went here for my first haircut since before the pandemic. Jake was my stylist, I told him that I wanted the hair on the sides shaved. I pointed out that the hair around my ears was annoying. He acted like he understood what I was saying, then proceeded to give me an entire undercut, by the time I realized what he was doing, half of my hair was gone so I had to let him finish. He cut off two years of effort, and I am devastated. He asked no clarifying questions, he didn't even verify what I wanted, he just cut my hair off. Very cool, hip barbershop with a lot of talent! The atmosphere is very inviting and friendly. They have a bunch of cool, vintage movie posters, album covers, etc as wall art which is fun to look at while getting your haircut or waiting for someone to get their haircut.
