A bright upscale pizza restaurant in a great location in the Collatino neighborhood in Roma, This place specializes in very thin Roman pizza. The name 180 Grams refers to the weight of the ball of pizza dough before preparing. They claim on their website that it makes a perfect 12" pizza. I have to agree that it was pretty darn good.
Reservations are recommended and they open late and stay open late. The location is full of large windows which adds a lot of space and great people watching.
For an appetizer, we shared a couple of orders of the suppli al telephono (a ball of fried carnaroli rice, milk cream, tomatoes, basil butter and cheese appetizers) that they are known for. These are not to be missed and they were delicious!
We each had our own pizza from a very large and unique selection. A couple in our group had the broccoli and anchovy with white sauce pizza, another had the mushroom pizza. I had the Capricciosa pizza which was loaded with prosciutto, cheese, red sauce, mushrooms and strangely topped with half of a had boiled egg. All were very thin and cooked perfectly.
We had a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc to complete the meal.
Overall, this restaurant is a plus to the neighborhood and draws a large crowd. I'll be back. read more
