We stumbled upon this distillery by searching for one on Yelp while looking for something to do on a hot Texas day. We enjoyed the experience. While we didn't do the tour, we did enjoy the tasting room for both the bourbon as well as the wine. They give each adult 4 tokens that equate to the number of samples. We used my husband's four on the different bourbons. The sample pours were on the smaller side. My husband found a bottle to purchase and it came with a glass. Note this location is not a bar and rather just tasting/bottle purchase only. The people working the tasting bars were very friendly and helpful as we were deciding what types to try and ultimately purchase.

On recommendation of a coworker, we tried out this fairly new distillery. The tour was given by the owner and current mayor of the town and was very informative. They come from a beer background and are still figuring things out but already managed to medal with their whiskeys. After trying them in their tasting room, I can see why. All were quite nice, but I especially liked the Single barrel four grain whiskey and bought a bottle. Tours are free, and right now, their whiskey is only available on site, so pay them a visit!

My husband and I went on a Saturday afternoon for a distillery tour I booked through Eventbrite. The distillery is located between McKinney and Princeton in small town called Lowry Crossing. Bridgefarmer Road isn't the most pleasant road to traverse, but the scenery is nice. The building is set back from the road, so could be easy to miss. There is a small sign posted at the end of their driveway that says Christian Belle Winery and 1845 Distilling Co. The tour is $10/pp and takes about an hour. The tour includes a history of 1845, their distilling techniques, their many awards and it provides many samplings. On the tour, we got to taste three years of the bourbon's evolution, which was remarkable. After the tour, we used the 4 tokens we were given at the beginning of the tour to sample our choice of their 8 quailty bourbon selections. All wonderful, we bought a bottle. Then we were whisked off to the wine counter to sample their wines, which are currently only sold from the tasting room. It is a rare opportunity to taste wines that only a few people has gotten the pleasure to sip. We bought a bottle. This is a family run business and the whole staff was incredibly pleasant. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment, the facility and the spirits. We highly recommended 1845 Distilling for anyone who enjoys local history, unique experiences, bourbon and/or wine.

Our guests all loved the venue too and it was the perfect mix of indoor and outdoor space. Very affordable with lots of options to add on to make the day run smoothly. Full decor closet which we definitely took advantage of. I'm sure Katy will respond and say that my friend signed a contract agreeing to pay for Security. That is correct - I'm mentioning so that other brides are aware of the expense. 3) Contract also stated to accommodate food for "thier staff 10-15ppl" we did at $90.00pp, but only venue staff onsite were there for shuttling guests to cars 2 to 3 attendants max. That's an excess of $900 that they profited in addition to the $5k already spent. 4) If we had known items would not be available or venue manager would be absent we would have scheduled another hour to not feel rushed or unsettled especially for this type of event.

We had a shuttle take us from the Downtown McKinney area to the venue and it was a short-ish ride through ranches and open spaces. Once we arrived, the venue was beautifully laid out. We walked through where the reception would be (an indoor and outdoor concept) and went to where the ceremony was held. The wedding was held in the afternoon at the perfect time where it wasn't too hot and had a nice breeze rolling through the trees. The space where the ceremony was in relation to where the reception was isn't too far of a walk and, although not heel friendly, it wasn't too bad. There are many great spots to take photos at and to also hangout in between the ceremony and reception. The staff working the event was super nice and helpful the whole night. The venue itself was such a beautiful space for such a special life event.

Walk back on the compressed gravel trail to the main building and the reception was on the huge covered porch. There were space heaters mounted up above and put out just the right amount of heat on a coolish but beautiful evening. Great lighting on the patio, room for the double sided buffet line, tables and chairs for the reception attendees and just the right amount of room for the DJ and dance floor. I'm not sure how many guests were in attendance but I would guess around 150 or so. The inside powder room was adorable, complete with a pull chain to flush. Outdoors in the patio were more bathrooms for the cowboys and cowgirls in attendance. The overall vibe was comfortable- rustic and romantic, like you were in a beautiful wooded private space. Close enough to the city, but so fun to drive in and see cows in the field right next to the entry road!

Touring the venue with my clients truly reaffirmed how impactful kindness, warmth, and genuine hospitality can be--especially during such an important decision-making process. Amy, in particular, was an absolute joy to work with from the moment we reached out. She was communicative from the very beginning and remained so every step of the way. Even during one of the busiest Saturdays of the year for venue tours, she graciously accommodated a last-minute schedule change without hesitation. Her kindness, flexibility, and calm presence immediately set La Cour apart. While my clients had four other venues scheduled to tour, it quickly became clear that La Cour was the one. The beautiful setting and inviting atmosphere were undeniable, but it was Amy's warm personality and heartfelt approach that made all the difference. That level of care is something so many couples are missing when touring venues, and it absolutely matters. Thanks to the incredible experience Amy provided, my clients made their decision within the hour--something that typically takes weeks. I cannot recommend La Cour highly enough for couples seeking not only a stunning venue, but also a team that truly cares about their experience from day one. We highly recommend La Cour to other couples looking for this experience! Don't let photos fool you either, it's even more beautiful in person, and YES, it is absolutely possible!!

The lighting where they request you to set up the wedding party table is very dimly lit so you'll need to bring some sort of lighting. There isn't a ton of parking so make sure your guests carpool. You're required to use caterers off their list. I think the list had about 6-7 on it. The room they offer for weddings inside is a hallway. Literally a hallway. It's definitely not worth the $1,500 price tag they put on it. I would recommend using the outdoor space if you can. It's spacious and looks like a spot you'd have a wedding. It's perfect for an October wedding! The woman who showed us the venue spent maybe ten minutes with us. We felt a little rushed. But then again it was 7pm so maybe she was ready to go home. We never did get a follow up call or email from her. I didn't quite get that warm feeling from them. It felt very corporate. They book up pretty quick so you'll want to schedule your date here way in advance. Overall a cute place to have a wedding. Just make sure you hire someone to bring in lighting and you book your wedding not in peak season or you'll have to book two years out. Update: I received a message from the woman who did my tour. 1) She addressed me as Samantha. My name is Stefanie. Therefore she showed a lack of attention to detail 2) She stated she was in a hurry because she was showing 2 groups at the same time. During our tour she told us we were the last group and there was no one here so we were free to wander around wherever. We never saw a second group or couple looking around. 3) She was confused by my comment about lack of parking. Due to her lack of information and not telling us they apparently have a second parking lot, how were we to know there was additional parking elsewhere other than the one small lot we saw when we pulled in? 4) Regarding the head table. During our tour she told us that's where they put the head table. There was no comment about it being able to be elsewhere. She said that's where it will be set up for your event so it didn't even sound negotiable. My review still stands.

I'm so glad we went, had a great time and will be regulars when they start up again next year. I also have tons of tips for first timers. First, CR 408 is really, really, really easy to miss (especially in the dark). Aggravate the locals and drive really slow or you will miss the turn. There was no attendent at parking (which is on the grassy area between the rows of grapevines and before the house) . We weren't sure initially that that was where we were supposed to park but it is and if you overshoot it, turning around (in the dark) is kind of a feat. They say to get there around 6:30 to get a table. I would second this and say also that you want to get the bottles you are going to want before it gets really crowded. They have a menu of wines available but people can sample before purchasing so the line can move really slowly (like 15 to 20 minutes). If you are going to get there later, definitely bring lawn chairs. The sound is really good but the least obstructed views of the band go very fast. The web site recommends bringing a picnic basket/food and that really is a good idea as you are sitting and relaxing, listening to good music ... it is a natural to want some kind of little snack to go along with it. Altogether great, great time!
