I teach World History to 10th graders. There's a huge opportunity to tie in this critical part of both world and Irish history few California teachers consider. This tour was loaded with opportunities to share. Great pace, a tremendous amount of detail, and with experience with urban combat, the Marine in me was able to see the tactical errors of the Volunteers. The tour also amplified how this event still today rings currently within the Irish culture today. Great tour and a great guide.

The 1916 Rebellion Walking Tour starts in the International pub and goes to different spots in the city that relate to the Uprising. It lasts two hours and a half and ends at the GPO. The tour is well worth 12 Euros and is a delightful way to spend an afternoon. Walking around is the perfect way to get to know a city. One of the men who leads it, Lorcan Collins, strikes a good balance between being serious and making jokes. He comes across as being very knowledgeable about Irish history and in fact, co-wrote a book on the Easter Rising. He doesn't just lecture the crowd instead preferring to interact with the diverse mix of people. He might poke fun at you, but it's all done in good spirit. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn about this important chapter of Irish history.

Beautiful day for 1916 walking tour

Today myself and a bunch of friends took this two-hour walking tour and it was just fascinating from beginning to end. We all met in the international bar, where we met our tour guide, Shane. Shane spoke very clearly and confidently and sucked us all in with his knowledge of Irish history! Once we left our meeting point, we where brought back in time to relive the events of Easter week 1916, though Shane's retelling of events. My favourite part was walking into Trinity college and hearing of the drama within Trinity College in the days of the Easter raising, Shane then took us towards OConnell Street with story's about the march of the rebels to the General Post Office! I grew up in Dublin, but today I felt like I got to see it in a different light with the beautiful old historical buildings and events that shaped our country into what it is today!

Best walking tour I've done in a long time . Hilarious guide

We met up with our tour guide, Grace, outside of the Trinity College main gated entrance. Overall I enjoyed the tour we had. Grace was very knowledgeable and gave a lot of history of the sights we stopped at: first on the grounds of Trinity College, then through the nearby neighborhood, including Old Parliament and Temple Bar. She also took us to an area close to Temple Bar to discuss Viking settlements, which was neat! It was difficult to hear her for a good amount of the time due to the volume of traffic and the fact our group was on the larger side. I wish that the company might consider this and either make adjustments to group size, look into a portable voice amplifier, or simply have the guide speak in an "outdoor voice." Unfortunately I did not know the area and parked by timed metered parking, so we had to depart the tour early since my meter was expiring! (Oops.) I would recommend the tour, but suggest that you ensure you cozy right up to the tour guide so you don't miss out on any information!

This was by far my favorite activity in the week we spent in Dublin! It really gave a sense of…read morecontinuity between the Dublin featured in the novels and memoirs of the city's literary giants -- of which there are many -- and the Dublin of modern day. I realized that in Dublin, history isn't something you go places to see; you're swimming in it, everywhere you look. Our fearless leaders were brilliant -- gave power and poise and poignancy to the scenes they enacted (some of which were hysterically funny), and still managed to socialize with the group, and even engage us in a historical quiz at the end with prizes! (Seriously obscure questions, with interesting answers, too.) Plus, all the wonderful pubs, with the history that unfolded there... Pacing was great. We had supper at the Duke, which does a mean Irish stew, then broke up our walk with tipples at the various featured establishments, ending at possibly my favorite pub, Davy Byrne's. Glorious Art Deco, featured prominently in Ulysses, and showcasing an original first printing of the book itself!

Working together with the group in the months before was easy and the tour guys were very accommodating. This was a terrific way to spend a first night in Dublin. We all loved the short acts and history lessons. Highly recommended. As an added bonus, one of the actors was playing after the tour at Temple Bar so a group went there to watch. Epic night!

On the way, we had some bus trouble, which was unfortunate, but I will certainly not blame that on Irish Day Tours. In fact, I want to give them praise for the driver's attentiveness, making sure the passengers were safe, and the company being expedient in getting a new bus out to accommodate the rest of the tour. The Cliffs of Moher are one of the most beautiful sights I have ever laid my eyes on and we were blessed with great weather on this particular day. Sunny and not too windy (our visit was at the end of February but not sure how typical this is for that time of year). I believe we were allotted 1.5-2 hours at the Cliffs which we enjoyed every minute of. The stop in Doolin for lunch was charming and I was impressed with how quickly they were able to serve us. Unfortunately, we were not able to experience Galway on our tour due to the technical difficulties but I appreciate them being mindful of the schedule. I want to give particular praise to our driver and guide Kevin, who was absolutely fantastic in not only getting us there and back safely but is full of fascinating information on Ireland's history. As we continued to learn about Ireland over the course of the rest of our trip, I found myself wanting to ask Kevin his opinion on many topics. Thank you Kevin and IDT!

He sang a song or 2 along the way but he couldn't answer any of the questions asked and barely spoke. He dropped us at stops going in blindly. He was an older gentleman, so I understand the low energy but perhaps time to hang up his hat. As first timers to Ireland, I chose the Dark Hedges/Giants Causeway/Belfast tour because I was infatuated by photos of the Dark Hedges I saw online. I had no idea it looked NOTHING like it. It was really a waste of a stop. Giants Causeway was nice.. great photo op. It's a long walk downhill, then back up. Luckily, there was a bus that operates both ways for £1 (tap cards accepted ). We heard there was opihi in Belfast and found some along the way (we're from Hawaii). Super windy that day so we were getting flown all over the rocks. Only stop on the tour that was worth it. Next stop, Belfast City Centre. The tour guy dropped us off near City Hall with absolutely no direction. He told us about a mall nearby, but that's it. Anything worth seeing was already closed. I really wished he would've gave us more recommendations about what to do, where to eat, or anything worth seeing in the short amount of time we had there. After walking around City Hall, we walked to the mall to use the bathroom, stopped at a souvenir shop, then headed back. Total waste of time, again. 100% DO NOT RECOMMEND! Sadiy, I purchased the tickets for this tour after the price had gone up about €10 from their 2025 prices. Tour was also supposed to end at 8pm but we got back by 7pm because he kept rushing us. Leaving early from stops. Felt rushed the whole time. I feel it was a total waste of money that could've been used elsewhere.
