    Short Rib....*drool*

Clearly the rating for this place is being dragged down from their early days when they were still ironing out the kinks, because we had a fantastic meal at this place and I highly recommend it! We drive by this place a lot and I kept meaning to check it out, especially in the summer because they have a great patio. But, I kept forgetting or something would always come up. Then a Groupon showed up for this restaurant, so I bought one to remind myself to go! My date and I managed to find a parking spot in their little lot but there is ample street parking too. We were greeted and seated quickly and asked our preference for high or low table (which is a nice touch, because no one wants the high seats at any restaurant ever!) Manhattan's were on special that day, and check out my photo of the cocktail - pretty as a picture! It was classy and delicious. I ordered the short rib - for a mere $21 I'd like to add! - and it was FANTASTIC. I cleaned my plate and I can't wait to go back for it again. Tender meat, a good amount of brown sauce, a healthy slab of scalloped potatoes (note: I didn't taste anything weird in it as per previous reviews, I thought it tasted ok), and roasted red cabbage on top of butternut squash puree which mixed to make a delightful sauce for the whole thing. Make sure to put all components on each forkful for the full experience! My date had the arctic char. It was a strange choice for him and definitely out of his wheelhouse. He said it tasted like he was on holidays somewhere light and tropical (even though we ate during a snowstorm!). But he tried my short rib and agreed that he would order that next time. I will definitely be back for the short rib, plus there are several other menu items I want to try, like the pork schnitzel, the chicken parm sandwich, etc. And I still have to return to check out the patio when the weather warms up! NOTE: Did you know that a portion of the proceeds to go support the veterans? (the restaurant is part of the new legion in Kensington). Well now you do :)

    Chips and dip. Yum!

Nice venue and service. Steak sandwich's should never use Focaccia bread. Too bulky. Would give it another go though. Would be a great spot in summer with the patio.

The wine list isn't huge, but what they offer is curated and impressive. We ordered the Wedge Salad and Truffled Arancini. Both arrived about 15 minutes later. The salad was underdressed, and the Arancini, while hot, lacked the tomato sauce that would have elevated the dish. Minor issues, but we moved on. Unfortunately, the main course experience was disappointing. After waiting 45 minutes, our entrees finally arrived--at room temperature. At that point, we were too hungry to send them back and wait another 20 minutes. When we shared our concerns, the staff initially offered complimentary desserts, which felt inadequate given the circumstances. After further discussion, they comped both entrees and provided a $25 gift certificate, which was a fair gesture and appreciated. The GM and Bobby personally apologized and invited us to ask about "little surprises" in the wine cellar next time, which was a nice touch. Overall, great wine and recovery effort, but the kitchen timing and food temperature need serious improvement. Hoping for a better experience next time because the potential is there.

I followed the more than 48 hour rule to cancel the room without penalty and was told that its was during their blackout period and should have read the fine print. I'm really not even sure if that is legal. The hotel takes the full amount of the charge for the room at the time of booking, not at the time of check in and keeps the money regardless of when you cancel if it falls "in their black out period" that is not clearly identified when booking those dates. You better not have plans change or have a family emergency! RIP OFF. Buyer beware, do not book.
