OK, I loved their food, but the service was so bad that this was disappointing. We sat out on the balcony, which was really nice because it was a really nice day, but they had a lot of tables on the inside as well. When we first got there the service was good but then she disappeared for like half an hour. I don't know where she went, but we wanted a few extra things and by the time she got back, we just got our check so we could get out of there. We stopped at Milestones on our way to Fairmont and the hostess and waitress were lovely. Beautiful restaurant and very clean. The food was great haven't been there in over 6 years so was impressed with their menu. It was my daughter's bday and she got ice cream with the kids meal but the waitress went over and also let her order a free big dessert she got the key lime pie. This is a Canadian chain restaurant that started in Vancouver in 1989. The Stevens Avenue restaurant is connected to our Marriott hotel. The outdoor tables are on the Avenue & are great for people watching. The menu looked appealing & the Yelp reviews were promising. There were no shady seats outside so we opted for a table by a window indoors. We were seated at a high top near the bar. There were no specials and no happy hour because of the stampede. It was very warm inside. We started with cold Molson's. For dinner we shared a large & delicious wedge salad and a whole rack of baby back ribs with fries. Our ribs, fries & slaw came out on two plates. The ribs were falling off the bone, they were lean and very tasty. Cordell, our waiter was on point, he checked on us several times. So I won't give less stars for this but the lettuce wraps didn't make sense. They were basically boneless wings, in my opinion, and were hard to eat with the lettuce. Not sure if it's an American thing but usually the chicken is in smaller pieces and then put in the lettuce. The reason I still give 5 stars is because the chicken was SOOO good and crunch. Salad was great as well. Other people at my table said they could've ate here every night. Which is impressive for a place that is supposedly a chain. 3 people for lunch. We ordered calamari, 2 sandwich trios and a steak sandwich. All were severed on dried out ciabatta buns... we needed to ask for steak knives to cut the buns. Too tough to bite through. The steak sandwich was dismal. 3 slices of tough steak, mixed with onions, mushrooms and sticky sweet sauce on 2 halves of ciabatta buns each stuffed into a "taco" serving tray, very classy. We ate at the Milestones connected to the Marriott twice in the last few days. the food was fantastic but what made it extra special were the people. I wish I knew our servers names, but we had a brunette female on Sunday for lunch. she was friendly, warm and a genuinely great person who made us feel like we were the only ones there. we came back Tuesday for lunch and had a male with a beard who was wonderful as well. we told the general manager how great they were as well. great food and even better people. we are from Ohio, USA, but will come back next time we are here. read more

Bottom line: delicious food, service okay. I had the coconut calamari which was crispy and not chewy. Also, the chimichurri sea bass, which wasn't exactly what I expected but no less flavorful. Lastly, for dessert the Belgian chocolate torte, which was heavenly; smooth, sweet and sinful goodness in every bite. The service was okay, the restaurant wasn't busy or full and yet it seemed like it took the server forever to get back to me or follow up for a water refill. Granted it was late, 2 hrs before closing so perhaps that's the reason. Still mediocre service would not deter me from coming back, perhaps it will get a little better. We went here for dinner. It was a lovely evening, so we chose to sit outside. It took a while for Kensey, our server, to attend to us. She finally got to our table and offered us the wine with appetizer special they had going on, which had to do with her team getting points. We ordered the calamari with the wine. Again, it took Kensey a while to bring the wine and luke-warm water, which was weird because people at other tables had glasses of water with plenty of ice. We had to ask another server to bring us some because Kensey wasn't around. Then there was a couple seated right next to us who Kensey served immediately, gave cups of icy water, chatted with them, and then walked away before we could get her attention. When the calamari finally came, it was barely warm and not very good. The breading/coating tasted like sawdust. I ordered the Asian Shoyu Spicy Noodles with Kalbi short ribs, which Kensey had told me wasn't too spicy. It was very spicy and not very tasty. The noodles were clumped together, and I had to use a knife to cut through them. The short ribs were not much more than gristle and fat. Hubby ordered the Green Curry, which he said was just average. So, when it came time for our bill, we had to track Kensey down. She was busy talking to all her other customers. She even returned numerous times to the couple next to us, without even stopping to ask how we were doing. It was a pitiful experience. The only reason they didn't get one star is because the rest of the staff seemed friendly and competent. read more

I came in for a quick bite while on a business trip over the holidays in town. I was excited to show my co-workers some of the best that Calgary has to offer. Unfortunately, it missed the mark by a strong margin. I was greeted by a tattered sign informing me that the dining room was currently closed, and we would be the seated in the lounge. Our hostess however, had a different opinion. She was completely unaware that the dining room was closed and offered to seat us there anyway. In hindsight, that may have been a better choice... Our experience in the lounge was abysmal at best, in what appeared to be an otherwise empty lounge, we were sat right next to the only other occupied table, placed in the corner, right next to a wall, with barely enough space for our menus, let alone our drinks and appetizers we wished to order. While our food came out quickly, and was rather tasty (which is the only reason this establishment received any stars at all...) the service left much to be desired. After finishing our food and drink on our chessboard sized table and asking for our bill, 20 minutes later we received a single check, presumably our server assumed my co-worker (who is 40 years my senior) was my husband! Didn't ask if we would like to split the bill, and left us in quite the uncomfortable predicament. Food was fine, service was lacking the warmth we were expecting during this holiday season, and the atmosphere was... not. I do not believe we will be returning. I'd give a 3.5 rating if possible. This is a good location -- very close to plenty of bars and theatres if you're wanting to be out and about after dinner, and the view of Stephen Ave. is lovely. The food is of expected quality and the happy hour menu is decent (our party especially appreciated the $6 Stella Artois). Service once seated was middle-of-the-road, though I have to commend the hostess for a very welcoming and positive attitude to start out the experience. My order of fish tacos had an even split of delicious and disappointing elements. I LOVED the fish itself; perfect fall-apart-in-your-mouth texture and breading with the right amount of crisp and softness equally. The toppings were lacking in flavour other than spiciness. The avocado crema was the next best thing on the plate but only present for a bite or two of each taco. For sides, I'd have liked more options -- the only salad choice was Caesar, which was good but not my preferred pick of greens in general. The portion was great, especially being on the discounted happy hour menu. Unfortunately we came on a cold day and happened to be seated right by the window, which would've been appreciated in the summer (with the aforementioned beautiful view of the neighbourhood) but ended up being uncomfortably chilly. I'd return for the food if I were in the area again but either try out a different choice entirely or modify the taco toppings more to my own liking. read more

Restaurant located in downtown Calgary on Stephen Walk. What drew us to try this restaurant for lunch was he huge outdoor patio dining area. It was spacious and the perfect spot to enjoy the summer breeze. We started with the Moscow Mule which was made with tequila and blackberries. It came with a side of chili crickets....yes you read that right. I'm adventurous so I gave them a try. Tasted like chewy cornuts. My dining partner was less than thrilled. Always used to going to the Milestone pre covid. The service and staff were always good. The restaurant is very relaxing and when you could sit outside in the summer it was really enjoyable to dine and have the action of Stephen Avenue around you. Had a reservation at this location to dine with out of town guests. Requested a regular height table with room for a service dog. When we arrived we were offered a cramped booth, instead of our requested table. Three levels of management refused to honour our reservation request, and instead were insulting and dismissive. They took no ownership for their error and told us we were less important than another party. We went elsewhere and will no longer patronize this restaurant. If you want loud, expensive, poor service, and liars go here, otherwise go down the street to a much classier restaurant like we did. read more

Worth checking out. Very hot place to hang out on a cold day! When you first walk in greeted by a blast of warm air and interesting fire pit with wine bottles in the entry way. Place is friendly,bright and cheery with lots of noise and chatter which makes it a great low key hang out place. Good wait staff and very tasty food. Spicy Asian Chicken bites had just the right kick but didn't overpack the heat. Butternut squash ravioli was a great comfort food to knock the chill out of your bones but still managed to be bright with some flourishes of veggies to garnish and not super heavy in the tummy. They managed to make the ravioli a light fare which is no easy task with pasta. Overall it was a nice spot to stop in and take a break during walk downtown on very cold day. read more

Came here for lunch with a colleague and I ordered the fish taco. It was delicious and the portion was very huge. The fish itself wasn't fried or battered properly. It was not soggy but just not crunchy. But overall it was good. Portion was huge because it came with a ceasar salad. Only issue was that the ceasar salad didn't have any croutons. Well at least it has cheese. The décor here is nice and because I sat right beside the window, we got a nice view of the streets of Steven Ave. overall, I enjoyed my lunch here and would come again. read more

A nice spot and a great restaurant. We went on a Wednesday night so it was super quiet. Lots of tables and we were seated right away. Our server was very attentive to our table and even though we were very indecisive about our orders he came and checked on us often. The food was super delightful! We had the spinach dip and it came with red tortilla chips and even sides of sour cream and bruschetta- a super great touch. Once we ordered the food came out fast and hot. Parking we had parked in the Telus Convention centre parkade- there are quite a few parkades around and the cost was $6.00. read more

Was here for an early supper before a show at Jack Singer. We arrived just before 5 p.m. and were told that we'd have to be done by 6:30 as they had a reservation at that time. I had a steak that came with seasonal vegetables, and mashed potatoes. The seasonal vegetables consisted of 6 string beans and two pieces of red pepper. The steak was cooked to my liking and was seasoned well too. My wife had a fish taco and mushroom soup. I had a bite of the taco and it was tasty. The soup my wife said was good as well. My boys had a burger and the kids pasta. All which were on par with any other restaurant. We use to eat at Milestones while on vacation in B.C. Now that its here in Calgary not so much. It was a treat at one time to eat there, now not so much. I guess the appeal of it went away when it opened it's doors here in Calgary. read more

The food menu was great, we ordered Mediterranean Goat Cheese Platter for starter and it was just right amount of portion, flavor & synergy of the components. For our mains, we went for Steak Frites & Grilled Sirloin, both were cooked to our liking & the portion was large & worth the price. I don't think we could have had a more convenient location, other than room service, when we could walk right out of the Hyatt and into their front door. I had never heard of this place before but we joked we could be eating in one of IKEA's fancy little room setups. It was trendy and modern looking. The food was decent for the price. I had prime rib and it was really good. My husband had the steak and did say it was good. We had the spicy wings, which were not killer hot, but had a kick. My husband normally gets a side of mushrooms with his steak, but none as fancy as the ones we ended up, see the picture. I LOVE Milestones and I'll admit it: lately, I just haven't been able to get enough of it. When I was in Toronto last week, I ate at Milestones 5 times in the span of one week. I know - excessive right? Well imagine my delight when my date suggested that we go to Milestones last night. In hindsight, it was everything but delight. The Milestones experience that is... I ordered the same thing I order at EVERY Milestones. The Veggie Thai Noodle Salad with no noodles (allergic to wheat), no avocado (too fatty) and no dressing (doesn't need it). Every other Milestones I have ever been to manages to make this salad taste like the best meal on earth, despite my modifications. This Milestones however, yes, *this* one on Stephen Avenue, somehow managed to make my salad taste awful. The lettuce was wilted and they hardly gave me any ingredients other than the wilted lettuce. Flavourful at every bite? Try feeble at every bite. I'd go as far as to say that this was one of the worst salads I have EVER had. How do you take a salad that is standard across every single Milestones across Canada, (and one that every single other Milestones prepares with such an expertise that it tastes good no matter what), and make it taste like crap? Well, if you want to know, ask these guys. They managed to take something that is usually perfect, and render it absolutely pathetic. NO STARS FOR YOU. read more
