I made reservations for three of us at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, November 30th. Leading up to it, I received at least 3 or 4 text messages asking me to confirm my reservation. I always reconfirmed yes. The last reconfirmation was Friday at noon. Imagine my shock and dismay when my friends and I arrived at noon Saturday to find that the restaurant was closed! There was a paper handwritten sign posted on the door that stated the restaurant was not opening until 3 PM. My friends and I were left standing in the cold, trying to find another place to accommodate us for our holiday luncheon and still be finished in time to attend the play at the Schuster Center which started at 2. All three of us had already paid for event parking in the Arts Garage, as one friend drove from Columbus, one from Cincinnati, and me from Centerville. I understand that emergencies can happen and a restaurant could find itself too short-staffed to open. But after receiving all those reconfirmation texts, not one text was sent to me to notify me in advance that my reservation had to be canceled, so that I had time to make other arrangements. I am so disappointed about this. Last spring I took a different friend to dinner here, also before a production at the Schuster, And we had such a wonderful meal. I was looking forward to introducing two more friends to your lovely restaurant. Now because of the lack of notice or any communication telling me that we could not be served, I am very unlikely to try again. Your system clearly had my cell phone number on file between Yelp and your restaurant website, in order to send out a notice. This is the worst form of service. read more

Tried 1eleven flavor house after seeing all the positive Yelp reviews. The inside isn't much to write home about, and doesn't necessarily match the food experience we were expecting. The service was very slow and haphazard. The menu is pretty diverse and there's something for every pallet and price range. I went with the turkey burger, and my SO got the chicken alfredo. The seasoning on the food was pretty good and I enjoyed the bourbon sauce on the burger. The chicken alfredo portion was huge. Overall, 2 stars for service, 3 stars for atmosphere, 4 stars for the food for an average of 3 stars. read more

We came for an impromptu Sunday brunch at this fairly new establishment. Clean with cute decor inside with seating for about 65. The music was great and at a moderate level to still hear and respond to your companion. Their shrimp and grits came in a deep bowl filled with watery grits and flavorful curry gravy. The shrimp was a good size (18-20lb) but a little hard and flavorless, like they were frozen and just thrown in at the last minute. A few peppers and onions in the dish were buried in the watery grits. Maybe more grilled vegetables ontop of the dish would make this more appealing. Their chicken and waffle dish was pretty good. The waffle is exactly how I like my waffles as I'm not a fan of the belgium bready style, but I wish there were two waffles for the price. The boneless chicken breast had good flavor but was over-fried and a little too brown, which resulted in a dry breast. Hard to get the breast right. Plus they didn't pound the chicken to make it more tender with the same thickness. Maybe a side of tomato, cute cut of a vegetable, or fruit salad would have made it better for me to want it again. The mimosas and brunch cocktails sounded delicious and we almost ordered but decided to indulge next time. I had a very good experience here for dinner. It was nice and comforting on the inside. The music selection was mostly from the 70's which added some soul to the atmosphere. Our party was fairly large ~ 10-12 people. Staff did struggle to provide adequate service, but it was not a big issue. Orders were taken quickly to get things moving. The food did arrive fairly fast. The portion sizes for the entrees were on the large side. Everyone seemed content and happy with the amount of food given. I had the salmon cheesesteak, which is somewhat odd for cheesesteak and one of the reasons I picked it. Now there was too much salmon on the sandwich bun to close it. It just wasn't possible, but not complaining here. Interestingly enough, the salmon was seasoned in such a way that the flavors worked well together. The beans and rice were tasty as well and felt like a part of the meal. Nothing was particularly spicy. This is a newly opened restaurant in downtown dayton. Vibes were very good. It was bustling and busy, somewhat upscale. I ordered the Royal. This is salmon with shrimp on top, in a creamy spinach sauce. Salmon: Decent, and cooked medium well as asked for. Outside is slightly crispy, tender on the inside. There is a hint of spices but its not that strong. The shrimp on top is largely the same, being slightly crispy. Everything has a creamy butter taste. It is overall good but I wish there were more spices and something more interesting on the salmon. The side of mashed potatoes was decent. It was quite garlicky. The other side was mac and cheese. This was cheesy but not overpowering mac. Again, there were not that many spices. Overall, the food was good, but kind of boring. It didn't seem like there was any spices, even black pepper, added to anything. For $28, which is honestly pretty high for what you got, I really think there should be some kind of "Caribbean twist" as the restaurant says. But it was largely bland. read more

It took another 15 minutes for 2 of the people in our party to get their wine. 5 minutes later we were told they were out of cranberry juice so another person in our party couldn't get the cosmo she ordered. 10 minutes later she got the drink that she ordered. I didn't get my drink until we had been there for an hour and 15 minutes and it wasn't even the correct drink. We left at that point without ever receiving our food. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. We ended up having to get food at the Starbucks at the Schuster before going to see a show there. read more

I was looking for jerk pasta because I was in from Out of town I found this place on Yelp. I went for brunch and wanted to taste their flavor rolls which the website said they had for brunch. When I got there the flavor rolls were removed from their brunch menu in the restaurant but not removed from online. That was disappointing. I decided to try the chicken and waffle. Today my partner and I met up with a young lady named Toni for a networking opportunity at 1 Eleven Flavor House! I seriously think I fell in love today! THIS PLACE IS UNBELIEVABLE!! Our server, DAVID, was a very cool gentleman that made me hip to one of the best Cajun chicken sandwiches I think I have ever had. This sandwich made me want to write a love song! First let me apologize for not posting this review sooner. Its been a while since I've visited and I wanted to post a review because I was so excited but I got distracted with some personal issues. I think I had a big chip on my shoulder after moving from California to Ohio thinking the best I could hope for was Del Taco. Boy was I wrong. I love this restaurant. Theme is Caribbean. You might think "oh that wouldn't work for me. I don't like too spicy". Admittedly I thought the same thing. Certainly there was an undercurrent of heat but it did not try to steal the show. This was about intense, deeply rich, flavorful food. Complex but at the same time letting the essence of the core ingredient express itself. For example, the ox tail sandwich was a wonder to behold. Tender and deeply satisfying. The Brioche bun was the perfect choice. Of course I just had to try the garlic mashed potatoes after our server insisted we try it after she heard me question their garlic bonafides. Yes baby. Service is impeccable. Efficient, knowledgeable and very friendly (real not phony). The space inside has a simple, elegant vibe. A great place to take a date without it appearing you're trying to impress. Went to 1Eleven for THE FIRST TIME on 1/27/24 I was seated, then sat for 20 minutes with NO ONE offering water, silverware, taking our order, NOTHING. Not even a hello. All the tables, like every table around us were served drinks, waters, silverware, orders taken, bread basket, etc. The worse part of it... the place was highly recommended by my oldest son. We are a mixed family & my son is bi-racial. I am white, & that was made very clear to us by the staff's actions last night. Unfortunately, we WILL NEVER be back to find out whether or not the food is as good as it's been said to be. My wife & I eat out somewhere in Dayton on a weekly basis. I can assure you if I'm asked about this place, I will be 100% honest... i wouldn't recommend this place to ANYONE that is looking for a good dining experience. This place is very unassuming, but clean and well maintained. . It really is a no-flare eatery, but the food was off the charts. I had the Jamaican jerk burger, one friend had a Philly cheesesteak and the other had the chicken sandwich. We each agreed it was the best place we ate while staying in downtown Dayton. The menu had some higher price point dinners that quickly became something I look forward to on my next visit. The service was noteworthy as well. The breading was described as Cajun flavored but was not spicy. The only thing I wanted to note for future visitors that may be considering bringing children- there is not a dedicated kids menu and I didn't feel like it was a kid friendly restaurant. My children split a cheeseburger and fries meal and that was fine for them, but not having a kids menu or kid friendly cups just made me feel like I should have visited this restaurant without the kids. Well, the doors were confusing of what to open to get in originally. We made a reservation, and the man who visited us at the host stand could not find it on the iPad, scoffed, and still sat us. We were excited to try as the other reviews and pictures looked great! My party of 4 sat there on a Saturday at 5:30pm to get no silverware, no water, and most disappointing, no communication as to what the wait was. We overheard servers at the other tables saying that they were short staffed. Multiple tables around us had just water and irritated faces. I wish I could talk about the food more, because I was so looking forward to the salmon, but unfortunately we were not going to sit and not get any service or help.
