While I have never had a bad experience at Michael's in general, I have never recieved this kind of customer service. She really went out of her way to ensure all my questions were answered and showed me samples. She ensured I was satisfied and all my questions were answered before she moved on to help someone else. We're always on the look out for Hobby Stores on our travels and this one popped up in a random…read moresearch. Its hard to miss it, there's a HUGE train outside with the store name on it. It reminded me of the old school train shops my dad, uncle, and grandad always took me too as a kid. There's a HUGE variety of model trains, scenery, paints, parts, you'd be hard pressed to not find something you need here. The owner greeted us warmly, mentioned a sale they had going on and said to ask him if we needed anything. Besides trains he also had a decent stock of model planes and cars, a few Star Trek models from the 80s but again, the bulk of his stock is trains. We were in the market for Gunpla models and sadly he didn't stock those but I will be telling my uncle about this place when he needs supplies for his trains. A great small business to stop in if you're looking for model trains and parts and want to support local businesses. Owner is very knowledgeable and friendly, willing to go that extra mile to help find what you need.

This is one of the nicest comic/action figure/misc stores I have ever seen. Layouts were clear and grouped by interest. Displays were carefully designed with the collector in mind. The amount of stock is great, especially back issues. I saw something I've never seen before - ECs from the 50s!! One area that I am still collecting. Most stores only carry the later reprints. Nice, but none that I need at the time. There are separate displays for comics, magazines, action figures, sals items, suggested reading, and a nice area just for kids with a great selection. The manager was helpful,and very knowledgeable, and we had great conversations. There are multiple areas marked for sales prices, including several boxes of low priced comics and magazines. And especially of note: I read recently of the difficulty of finding new packs of Pokemon cards. Some dealers were charging $9 to $13 for the new packs, due to shortages. Comic Store West has them for $6, with a limited amount you can buy. That alone tells me a lot about caring and watching out for the consumer. If you are in the York area looking for comics, this should definitely be your first stop! Highly recommended.

I'm a routine game-shop visitor, and I was excited when I moved to a place that had a shop this…read moresize! The store is always well stocked with decently priced product, and has a vending machine + snacks avaliable. The staff are fine, but my main issue this place comes more from the regular customers and lack of regulations or expectations around behavior in the store. I've been to several prereleases here and I dont think I'll be back after multiple times men (sometimes with their kids present) Kept making sexist or straight up comments on my body or being female in a gamimg space. There is also a HEAVY issue with body odor here. This is not entirely the staffs fault, but I couldnt find staff members available to talk with about this issue, and was waved away when I did find one due to them being overwhelmed. Increasing staff numbers especially during high demand events would fix this. This is a great store, but I fear it is suffering from success in the numbers.

You can enter on the left side which is the retail store and if you go to the right by the cashiers they have a whole area set up for games with snacks and drinks. We picked up some D&D Supplies and my husband reminisced about his Magic days with the cashier. Both men at the registers were very nice and asked what games we were into and made recommendations on other mech we might like. Their selection is pretty vast and seems on par price wise with other stores in the area and online. They also had an area you could play test games and we saw people and families of all ages enjoying shopping and testing the games on display. The new store on Wesley Drive is HUGE. It might be a little hard to find but its located on the right corner of the plaza with the Peppermill restaurant, to the side/back of McDonalds. Parking can get a bit nutty and limited on weekends so just keep that in mind.

It's located INSIDE of State Theater Vintage Emporium, which is an adventure in itself. Walk in the doors, go up the stairs and its the first "big" fixture/box shop on the left. They carried everything and anything anime and Japanese from plush, figures, cards/card games to even straight from Japan video games and trinkets for Ita Bags. They even had some Pocky, Ramune and other Japanese snacks for purchase. I think we saw the owner restocking as we perused and he was very personable mentioning he could answer any questions we had. Prices were in line/if not better than ones I see at conventions and online. Overall a great place to stop if you're in the market for current or vintage Japanese goods.
