I called and the woman that answered the phone was very unfriendly and short. My daughter's truck lock Actuator failed and I asked her about installing a factor part and she was just quick to say "we don't install customer's parts." End of conversation. I've had many auto shops do work on my cars, and no one has ever told me they don't install parts the customer has already purchased from the dealer/auto part store. In fact, they have suggested it. She needs to work on her customer service relations! I contacted them because they were some good reviews, and now that I'm reading more, there are some not-so-good as well. I guess this was a bad day to call. I understand buying parts from them because they mark up to make money. But at least offer the service and make up for it in the labor cost. IJS Well, so much for having a good start to this day! I really don't like giving a one-star but this lady was not trying to assist me at all! Never trust this company, I needed an oil change for my car so I called in a few days ago to make an appointment for the weekend, The lady on the phone who barely spoke English told me that they are closed every weekend, but there is an opening for Friday morning at 9 am and it takes about an hour to do the oil change. I told her that I would take the morning off that day at my job to bring the car to the shop, She made sure that the appointment was taken correctly with my name and number. On Friday I arrived shortly before 9 a.m., and the not-very-friendly man at the desk made me wait for a few minutes to tell me that I had no appointment and they didn't have my information in their system. I find it very rude and disrespectful to the customer and will never try to give them any business, they don't deserve my business at all read more

Once again I leave a positive review for this OUTSTANDING business. As I've said previously, I would not go to ANY OTHER AUTO REPAIR SHOP IN MURRIETA!! I am moving to Florida at the end of the June and my front brakes started to squeak a little bit. I didn't want them to fail while heading cross country, so I took it in to get the front brakes changed. After inspecting the vehicle John advised that my front discs were "glazed" a bit, but my brakes were fine. He said he would change them if I wanted, but it really was not warranted at this time. He suggested that I drive to Florida and get them changed there! Now THAT, is good business, and I am going to miss this level of customer care in Florida! Just got tires at Costco and took my car here for an alignment because I saw their coupon in clipp circular. They told me I needed a cabin air filter which I thought was odd since I just had it changed out at my regular mechanic when I had my oil change 2 weeks earlier. I went back to my regular mechanic and he walked me out to my car and showed me the brand new filter that he had put in two weeks ago earlier. Beware... I'll never go here again. read more

(I tried other locations and the best response was " Well try to fit you in tomorrow".) Spoke with John and he said to come by. Quoted me a price and said it would take 2-3 hrs. That was fine. Let me start by stating that I have relatively high expectations for each auto repair shop i decide to give my business to. And for 14 years, I'd say about 90% of the places I have been to, fell incredibly short of those expectations. It is definitely a frustrating process when you have car issues and just want reliable, honest, quality and affordable services. All of my experiences with 1st Choice Autoworks have been extremely satisfying. They serviced one of my lemon cars and got it fully operating better than i ever expected it. They fixed numerous issues, including electrical issues which have been a nightmare for me at a really fair price. They did so well i decided to take one of my other vehicles in for a much needed service and they were able to complete the repairs in a very timely, professional and cost efficient way. On top of all this, Joe kept me informed throughout the whole process with detailed information and provided excellent recommendations. Found them in the Murrieta coupon book because they were advertising a $20 oil change. Brought the car in, waited about 2 hours for it to be ready. When I got home, major oil leak happening. Opened the hood, the oil cap was off and sitting aside in the engine. I called them and got a refund. So not only did I wait wayyy longer than at an oil change place, but they actually didn't even do anything and couldn't even finish the job. Don't give a coupon for a service that you are not even planning on doing. Also, my bad for thinking a cheap job would be a good job. They are very polite, yes, but they seem to be irresponsible with service. I think everyone deserves to know about this, after reading other similar reviews of this place. read more

A BIG THANK YOU TO JOHN AND POON! They just saved me $1600+! Background: My battery dead 3 weeks ago and I had roadside assistance guy installed a brand new one. But that guy didn't tight the battery cable terminals and caused my battery ran out after one time drive (I didn't know until John told me that's the problem). I tried jump start but my car couldn't start. I first towed my car to the top reviewed autoshop in yelp. They spent hours and came up with the conclusion that the throttle body motor shorted and damaged the ECU. Quoted me $1800 to fix the car! I called several shops and explained the situation and they all confused why I need to replace the throttle body. I finally decided to take my car to 1st Choice Autoworks to do another check up. Not only Poon gave me a reasonable price for the throttle body, she also asked me a lot of questions of my car and I felt like she really wanted to find the problem why my car was not running. I towed my car to the shop on the same day. John read the diagnosing report from the previous shop and explained everything VERY PATIENTLY. John suggested me to do another check up. I am glad I did! They found the battery cable terminals were loose and my throttle body was unplugged. After they plugged it back and tighted the cable terminals, my car went back to normal! The shop also provided me a multi point inspection for free. Everything together only cost me $150!!!!! It is soooo important to a have trustful local autoshop like 1st Choice. Looked around yelp, bumped into this auto shop, took a chance because of the reviews, and it was worth it. John and Poon were really great and dealt with my car issues from start to finish. I have a bmw and would rather take it to the auto shop [a reliable one] because it will be cheaper. Everything went south when my battery died. It got jumpstarted but fried my frm module. Although they weren't able to fix it, John himself, brought it to bmw and got everything done for free! I only paid for the new battery and the radiator change but looking at bmw's receipt: if I brought it there and warranty wasn't extended, I would've paid another 3700 for everything else. John even told me I might get a refund for my radiator if bmw decides to include it in the warranty. So keeping my fingers crossed. Although it took a while to get my car back because of everything they had to do, everything was all worth it. It's hard to find a reliable shop and I'm glad I bumped into this one. It's easy to contact them either through here or through the phone. And another plus, it's a minute drive to the bmw dealership too! Thanks again for everything! read more
