One of my favorite local places. The food is always good, they have great deals on drinks, and the service is always amazing.

Where do I start? First of all I have been in Iowa City for a long time and it was my Husband that drew to my attention that Two Dogs Pub was a great place to have breakfast as he is a big breakfast eater! with him and it was absolutely wonderful! Though it was quiet, service was excellent. The food was absolutely delightful and their own salsa was tremendous. We tried it for National Hot Dog Day, and it did not disappoint. We've added this to our list and love the football (soccer) theme! read more

We really enjoyed our food from 2 Dogs Pub. We placed an order online for carryout about 45 minutes before we wanted to pick-up. Online ordering was easy to figure out. Hubs grabbed our food on his way home from work and everything was still hot. My tuna melt with coleslaw was very good. I prefer a sweeter, creamier coleslaw so I wound't order 2 Dogs version again - it had a nice tang, but not for me. The tuna melt was perfect, as were the onion rings. Really enjoyed this place. If I lived here I'd hang here a lot Turkey burger was excellent! Hubs liked the wings, he had the lemon pepper dry rub--excellent--and some with a chili bbq type sauce. Also good. Tots were weak--will try fries next time. read more

Neighborhood bar & grill where folks are repeat customers. This speaks to the congenial service & menu. Several of us met for dinner & drinks where service was great & most enjoyed their food. The Southwestern chicken salad was a disappointment: the lettuce warm & limp, too few corn & black beans & the fajita chicken strips grocery store quality. Ok I'm about to make a bold claim. This is the best bar food in Iowa City. I think I used to remember this place when it was called Rick's -hadn't been in town for a while. Not only do they have an amazing beer selection, including tasty Iowa craft brews- some as high as 8%, but the food is bomb. You never know when it comes to bar food, and with so many good options in town, I just happened to be hungry. Now I've eaten here like four times. So far the cheese curds are my favorite. They have the light batter and good ranch. The fish and chips, which are on special for eight dollars on Friday, are also amazing -same beer batter as the curds. The burgers are very creative and so far the more traditional ones were legit - but they also have funky toppings like a Greek one and another one with thousand island that resembles an In-N-Out Burger. The other appetizers like the wings and the onion rings are also top flight but best of all is the service and ambience. I would call this elevated gourmet bar-food. read more

Watch out for slow service. Only a couple tables were occupied. Waited over 5 minutes for acknowledgement by wait staff to be seated. Get seated and not given any menus. Staff were standing around facing the front at a station and can clearly monitor the dining room. But were laughing and showing each other their cell phones. Kept us waiting on getting menus. Could hear another table grumbling about waiting for an appetizer. read more

Great local IC pub with great food and craft beer selection. They have a shuffle board table also for friends and families to enjoy amongst a couple of common video arcade games: Simpsons and pinball. Very neat pub with decent seating. Good time! read more

We were passing through on our way home to Chicago and so happy we found this gem!! Food was Awesome!! Burgers, Cheese Balls, Onion Rings, Fries, PRETZEL STICKS, Sweet Potato fries with Marshmallow Fluff and Nachos. It was so good. They had pinball and darts for my kids. Wing and cheese curds review -I have your attention right? Haha I eat wings almost every Tuesday for about 20 years or so now. So I wanted to try a new place this week and seen they had some wing reviews on their yelp, so why not? This is a nice sports bar/grill, it was very chill when I came in about 2pm and not many events going on, seemed like it could hold a crowd. For the food, they have a nice menu with a good amount of items to choose from. I was happy to see they have several flavors of wings, I will have to try them when I can. I settled on their traditional buffalo and firestarter, both had an excellent flavor and heat. Firestarter was my fav, it has a little bit of a 911 wing type of flavor that I love so much. The wings are crispy, but not dry which isn't always easy to do. They do use smaller wings here compared to some places but they can fill you up. Oh and the cheese curds are nice, worth trying them. They do have $4 wing Mondays and also have happy hour specials on different food items after 3pm. I really loved their wings, this may be 5 stars as soon as I try a few more flavors. I only stopped in after work for a couple drinks but from what I saw I liked. I did not get a chance to eat but the happy hour special for food was $3.50 for a hot dog or brat and fries, good deal. From what I saw on someone plate they did not skimp on the fries. The atmosphere was nice, clean and well lit. I was comfortable in there in khakis and a dress shirt while most others were in jeans. There was shuffle board, a jukebox and electronic poker games. The beer selection was great, there were several (20ish) tap beers and plenty of cans and bottles to choose from. There were several craft beers here at a happy hour price of only $3.50! They have a display panel for the craft beers which made me think they change it up often. I sat next to a guy who was part of beer club that earns points that can be exchanged for free drinks. Nice touch. I hope to be back soon to sample more beer and try the food. read more

I haven't eaten here for several years but I'm it was decent the last time we tried it. But tonight it was very disappointing. The onion rings were obviously frozen, not homemade. I couldn't even identify the taste of the sweet potato fries - they were edible with loads of ketchup. But the kicker? Very few vegetarian items on the menu so I asked the waitress what she would recommend. She said the Awesome burger was pretty awesome so I tried it. It didn't taste like any Awesome burger I ever tried - just tasteless. And imagine my surprise when I got the bill. They charged $12 for the burger plus an up charge of $5 because I got make meat that probably wasn't even a true Awesome burger. And an up charge for the nasty sweet potato fries. So, the mediocre (bad!) sandwich cost $18. Wow! Sorry, I will not be back! PS. The waitress was very nice and we had pretty good service. The meals came out 1 minute after the appetizer but that want her fault. read more

3 star food 5 star bartenders 4 star total. The burgers and wings are ok, they're not great, but not bad either. If you get the wings when they are on special they're a pretty good deal since they use smaller wings. The flavor of the wing sauces here are pretty good, they're just lacking some heat, even the firestarter. Unlike some places I've been to, they do actually use enough sauce to actually coat their wings. Too many places these days barely use any at all and then charge you when you ask for extra. The burgers I've had here have had decent flavor, but they've been on the dry side so I can't really give them more than 3 stars. Kudos on the multiple choices and specialty burgers, but they still need a better patty. Now, for the 5 star part. While the selection of craft beers isn't that big, it is a well thought out selection and has some very good beers plus some rotating taps for seasonals and specials. The bartenders there are also quite knowledgeable about what they are serving. Last time I was there I ordered an Irish stout on nitro, after serving it to me and looking at it, the bartender disappeared into the keg room. When he returned, he took away my beer and gave me a new one. He had noticed that the beer did not pour correctly due to the pressure being too high on the nitrogen. He had gone in back to correct and gave me a properly poured beer when he returned. So decent food, good beer selection, and great bartenders equals 4 stars. read more

Haven't been since I lived nearby in 2013. This was my go to place in college and now, eight years later, it's still just as amazing. The food is still the exact same, best Buffalo wrap in Iowa city, the boom boom wrap is incredible. The flavor you didn't know a Buffalo wrap could have. Back in 2013 they used to open at 6am on weekends so you could come watch the EPL games too. We spent a lot of time and money here. Big soccer bar. Glad to see they're surviving Covid just fine. Reasons i love this place. I can get a side of cheeseballs or fried green beans and not be up charged. If you are looking for your taste of fried food stop here. Normally I talk about the food, but in this case I want to talk about the service. Three wet and bedraggled refugees showed up on their doorstep. This place was one of the only functioning places after a wind storm of 90mph. The owner met us up front and warned us he was getting crushed, that there was a wait and was very polite about it. I'd give 0 stars if i could. This place was terrible before I even got food. I've been here once before and left because of no service. And last night was no different. People were leaving because of a lack of help. Both times I tried to eat here I couldn't because nobody would help us. I could elaborate but not worth my time, just like the help treated me. Menu sounded good but I'll never know, and I'll be sure to let everybody I know not to go there and encourage anybody that reads this to stay away or at least warn them of the unacceptable service. Went to 2 Dogs Pub saturday night after catching a movie at Sycamore. Thankfully we did not have to wait for a table, but I have seen it incredibly busy. It took me awhile to decide which beer and burger I was going to go with. The beer selection is tremendous and priced very reasonably. For the burger, I selected the Western with bacon, cheese, bbq sauce, and onion strings. The food came out exceptionally quick and my burger was cooked to perfection. Me and my family used to go here all the time before Covid. We used to love this place. Best grilled cheese ever. Tonight after a brutal week all I wanted was a big salad. Me and my husband both ordered 2 big house salads to go. When we got home and opened them up, the rotten smell was my first red flag. I tried to pick out the bad lettuce but it was the whole thing. The tomatoes were rotten as well and the cucumbers were rubber and rotten. I couldn't believe the whole thing was bad. What a waste of hard earned money. Shame on you. read more

LOVED this place! I ordered the "say cheese" burger and it was absolutely phenomenal. It was topped with 4 different cheese plus cheese curds, no that was not an autocorrect, it actually had cheese curds ON the burger!!! I ordered it medium and it was spot on. The fries were fresh and crispy yet soft in the middle. My fries were dipped in a homemade ranch that I could have drank. To top it off, they have coca-cola products. My boyfriend ordered a "burger of the month" called the Harris burger. It was topped with BBQ sauce and onion rings. We will definitely be back. read more

This used to be my go to townie bar for brats and for Tuesday trivia. We went back the other night for trivia and made the mistake of thinking it was at 8 and not 7- our bad. Both our server and the trivia host were clearly trying to keep us thinking trivia hadn't started yet until we ordered our food. We figured it out ourselves because we're not stupid and left. I don't like a hometown bar that misleads people. It's rude and lame. I don't think I'll be going back-- this place is too divey to be worth it. Also fair warning, they cook a peanut butter sandwich on the grill for some reason so if you have a nut allergy you can eat like maaaybe 20% of the menu, none of the burgers or brats. read more

A good local alternative to Applebee's or Chili's. There aren't too many good bars on the east side of town, especially places that are open late. 2 Dogs is a great place to stop by for a beer or to watch the game. One thing I like a lot about it is all the custom burgers they do. They have a monthly contest where customers submit their best ideas for a burger and the winner makes it onto the menu. Reliable bar food. There's a great range in food from burgers to tacos and they have specials every day of the week. The location has lots of parking and is clean inside with TVs and games for a good and more quiet night out. My favorites are the turkey Ruben, animal style burger, and the grilled Pb&j (add an egg!). Highly recommend trying a beer from their rotating selection and the French fries are the bomb. 2 Dogs Pub is a great place to get a bite to eat for lunch / dinner. There aren't many places on the east side of Iowa City that have as many draft options to choose from as 2 Dogs - something the beer lover in me greatly appreciates. Lately I've been enjoying the various seasonals that have been coming through...really adds variety to their beer menu. In terms of the food, there are a lot of happy hour and daily specials but I rarely find myself straying from the burger menu. My personal favorite is the Here Piggy Piggy burger (bacon, ham, salami, and BBQ sauce) and I occasionally go for the tenderloin. One of the things I like about the place is you can choose sides without an up-charge. As someone who's not a big fry person - it's nice to be able to go with rings or cheese balls and not be charged extra for it. The staff is friendly and typically attentive. I bring my kids in often and have found it to be a kid friendly environment. Some sports bars can be just ridiculous when it comes to the sound - but 2 Dogs does a pretty good job of balancing the sound of the game / music with the crowd. Finally, there's not really anywhere that I know of in town that focuses on showing soccer matches. 2 Dogs regularly shows Premier League soccer on the weekends which is a great option for fans like me. Overall, 2 Dogs isn't the most gourmet option in town (which they don't seem to be trying to be), but they have good bar food, nice staff, and a great selection of beers which is what I'm looking for. Living on the east side of Iowa City I'm always happy to have additional options and this pub is a good one. read more

Excellent Pub. Great bar food and friendly service. What else could you ask for. My wife and I went in for lunch at 12:30 on a Sunday. Despite the fact that we were seated withinbminutes of a party of 9, we were waited on within two minutes. Two Dogs has a pretty good draft craft beer selection. Their prices are on the low side for drinks. ($4.00 wine and $3.50 draws). They also offer many specialty martinis. All in all, a great place to enjoy an afternoon with friends. read more
