We visit annually to do some local fishing, and always seem to find our way in here for a couple of cheeseburgers or some chicken strips, or something blizzard-ey and sweet. Maybe all of the above. The kids behind the counter, do a good job, and the place is pretty clean. Restrooms for a fast food joint, which I know may not be a thing where you live, but in my native Southern California, it's a bonus. But there's not a toad lock on the door here, which is another fancy joy we get to experience in idiot Island, CA. My kids still laughed about the strange looking Cookie Monster frozen ice cream thing he got a couple of years ago. Always good for a giggle. But like I said, if you don't know what DQ is, you're letting the best in life that you by. Lake Chelan doesn't have much in terms of high-quality vegetarian or plant-based gourmet options, but Bear Foods was a massively delightful surprise! The store is absolutely PACKED with things that I wanted to look at and take home. I was impressed with how many things they stocked that were items I've only seen online and never seen sold in stored. We took a super long time through the coffee and tea isle and ultimately took a few boxes and tins home with us because their selection was so good. Their cheeses and gourmet snacks area was well stocked, and I could see how some of the vacationing non-locals could keep a business like this afloat even with their considerable prices. I really wanted to go back, but we were in the area for a wedding and our timeline just didn't allow it to happen. Otherwise, I probably would have brought home a lot more of their amazing goodies! Only downside for me was that during our time there, there was a mask mandate, and not a single person working there was masked. I thought that was an odd thing to have despite the state's requirements and especially because they were a grocery store and having significant contact with patrons.
