Miscommunication between desk and customers about procedures. Dr.Napolitano was the rudest doctor I have experienced in my 50 years. she stomped her feet and made childlike physical actions. She called me liar when they wasted my time coming into the office. They had me standing there while trying to find and listen to a phone call that subsequently proved the staff made an error. They searched my phone number in Their logs, then realized I had called from a work line. They listened to the call only to realize I was given wrong information. No apology for the behavior and yelling at me in an office full of people. Don't go, don't waste your time. Waits are long, doctor is terrible. I have never been treated this way. Awful. read more

I've gone to this practice (Mineola location) for yearly checkups since 2021. I booked this year's appointment myself online with the same optometrist I've seen the last two years. I got there 10 minutes early, filled out the same paperwork they have me fill out each year, and was brought in for pretesting within five minutes of my scheduled time. After that I was brought to the exam room. I ended up sitting in the exam room waiting for close to 40 minutes and finally a different optometrist than the one I scheduled with came in. She proceeded to come in without so much as introducing herself, her name is Melania Napolitano btw, and she hurriedly looked over my chart and started testing me. No questions about why I was there and each time I tried to ask something I received quick/dismissive responses. At one point she put something in my eyes without even telling me what it was. Was I being dilated??? What was that I asked. It wasn't dilation but something else she quickly muttered to me. When the exam was over less than 10 minutes after it started she never discussed (or told me) any of my test results. I used the bathroom on the way out and when I got to the front desk Napolitano was gone, off to the next patient to assuredly hurry them through their appointment as well. I mentioned to the front desk that I was never even told what my distance vision was, I was told my reading vision in the room only because I asked. They retrieved Napolitano and she told me my distance vision had gotten ever so slightly worse since the previous year. Well this was odd because when I had a contact lens exam only two days earlier they said the opposite, that my distance vision had gotten slightly better. I asked Napolitano how my vision could've been judged to be worse when I got every letter on the charts correct, my distance vision is still 20/15 from laser eye correction I know this, she said she had the machine adjusted off of last year's testing from the start. On top of this my reading vision with her came back as worse than what the optometrist came up with two days earlier. I would have loved to discuss these discrepancies further with Napolitano, that is what she's getting paid for isn't it?, but instead I was rushed out of there. Leaving the Mineola office dismayed I called the Middle Village office hoping to complain to someone about Napolitano. After waiting 15 minutes I got the "manager" Rita on the phone who didn't seem to take any interest in the complaints I had about how I was treated and simply wanted to focus on my eye testing results. This also left me highly dissatisfied and I asked for someone above her to speak to and Rita proceeded to tell me that she is the one and only OWNER of both practices (obviously not true). I said great, since you're the owner, and you're okay with your WORKER acting the way she did, then I will never be coming back to the practice again. read more

My midlevel 3 star rating is not in reflection of all their hard work and dedication, but in relation to pricing. As you can see, I am an avid eyewear collector, but I had to seek other alternatives because 20/20's rates have become far too expensive for me to continue doing business with them any further. 20/20 has a new beautiful office on Mineola Blvd, and a wide variety of designer and regular frames to chose from in-store. Let me start by saying I have nothing against Dr. Napolitano. All of my encounters with her have been positive and she's very direct and efficient. I even considered giving this place two stars because of her. But then I thought about it for a second and I just couldn't justify it given every interaction I've had with all the other staff members, who were incompetent, rude, and unhelpful (with the exception of one). I've been wearing glasses for over 15 years and contacts for almost 10 years. Never in all my experiences with optometrist offices have I developed such a deep level of hate for a particular place. Here is everything that is wrong about this place in no particular order: 1. THEY GAVE ME THE WRONG CONTACT PRESCRIPTION when I asked for it. When I was ready to order my contacts off the internet, I noticed there was a discrepancy between what was given to me as a prescription and what I was wearing for my trials...this point alone should make you run the other way. 2. They are such con artists. I was double checking that they were charging me accurately with what my insurance plan offered when I realized they gypped me out of 20% off the costs of my glasses. I had to be the one to bring it up and they ended up refunding me some money. 3. The space is so painfully small. There are literally three seats for waiting and two tables to get your glasses measured (those chairs are usually occupied by more patients who are waiting). I would understand if this place doesn't have a lot of people coming in or if they can manage to get people out in a timely manner, but that's not the case. Which brings me to my next point. 4. I've had to waste over an hour of my time almost every time I stepped into that place to see the doctor. You have to wait around for different people to get their shit together to get anything done. One example out of the many that I have: It took the eye technician 3 tries to adjust my glasses to what I wanted it to be. She even gave me attitude and claimed that the glasses weren't adjusted from the first time I tried them on...which is complete crap considering I would've remembered if they had been falling off my face. 5. The amount of time it takes for these people to get their supplies ordered astounds me. When I went in for my first appointment, they told me that I would have to wait OVER A WEEK for my trial contacts to come in. Let's just forget the fact that places I've gone to before almost always had my prescription in stock. But over one week for trial contacts? It would've taken the same amount of time If I ordered them myself..or possibly even shorter. HOW do they not have a deal that allows them to get expedited shipping? Maybe they're too cheap to pay for it - that wouldn't surprise me at all. 6. Don't bother making an appointment, because they will absolutely not honor it since they are SO SLOW (see point 4). I made an appointment the first time I went - I still waited 45 minutes to see the doctor (who by the way wasn't even Dr. Napolitano....something I was not aware of at the time because no one notified me and it was my first visit). 7. Because they're so inefficient, it took me 4 visits and follow up calls over the course of over a month and a half for me to finally get everything I needed (contacts, glasses, prescriptions, and billings). They even had to replace the lenses they put in my new glasses because they didn't realize there was something wrong with them until I pointed out that my vision was blurry. 8. I'm pretty sure my new glasses are STILL not the right prescription because my vision is still not 100% clear when I wear them. But at this point, I'd rather take the loss than go back to that place. 9. There isn't any free parking around. Sure, it's not ENTIRELY their fault, but this is really just another reason why you should avoid coming here at all costs. I'm so over this place. Never again. I have my own job - I don't have time to make sure other people are doing theirs correctly. Save yourself the headache and significant rise in blood pressure. read more

Most unprofessional office I have ever been to. Had an appt for 4:40. A woman with a 5:20 appt who arrived after me was called in before me. When asked why I was told she came in early to have her drops in and now that her eyes were dilated she had to be seen. Not only that but the receptionists kept asking people to get up every few mins so they could sit down and write things down. After over an hour of waiting I walked out of the office. Would give zero stars. They have a Groupon that is a scam and they do not honor the fine print. They try to upsell you the whole time. I refused a dilated exam and then the optometrist almost went ahead and did it even though I had signed saying I did not want the dilated exam. Their frames are overpriced. After spending $388 on a plair of glasses they were damaged, i brought them in to be repaired and they were completely lopsided. I have been coming to Dr. Napolitano's practice for as long as I can remember! I too have been wearing glasses for over 10 years and contacts for almost 8 years, out of all the practices I've been too, I would have to say that 20/20 Eye Care has been the best - reasons why I come here with my family as well. 1. They have never given me the wrong contact nor glass prescription. In addition to not only having to wear glasses, I also wear contacts. The first time I was given contacts they sat down at one of their tables, and took their time to train me on how to use contacts properly. In addition, they answered every single possible question I could think of at the time due to my insecurity and suspensions on contact use. 2. I can assure you that if the people at 20/20 Eye Care were "con artists", they would be out of business by now. This practice has been open for almost 10 years and, trust me, they have enough patients and business, which just shows how professional, efficient and welcoming they are. When it comes to insurances, they can all be tricky, but as for all I know, I have never ever been over charged by 20/20 Eye Care. If you needed to actually know, each employee at 20/20 Eye Care looks up and contacts your specific insurance, medical, and vision so that you and doctor know what you are specifically eligible for and what you are not eligible for, as they did for me. 3. The space is small. I'm sorry, but c'mon? 20/20 Eye Care is located on Mineola Blvd, in Mineola. Mineola is the capital of Nassau County, the biggest and most expensive county on Long Island. Not only that, Mineola is the center of transportation for MTA, of course some offices are going to be small, but please don't be so over-dramatic, because the space is very 'home-like' and comfortable to be in. 4. When it comes to adjusting glasses, every-time I've gotten my glasses from 20/20 Eye Care, every single time I had to either pick up mine or someone in my families, they sat us down to MAKE SURE everything was perfect, and not surprisingly, they have always been perfect. If they weren't tight enough, they would tighten them in seconds. As time goes by after glasses being worn, they become lose. Every time I felt that they were lose, along with my families, they charged us nothing to come by and get them fixed/adjusted and they are always super fast when it comes to that. Glasses fit differently on every individual, so sometimes you actually have to put them on to see if they are okay or not. 5. When it comes to ordering supplies, they are also very efficient. Never have I ever had to wait over a week for my contacts nor glass order! They have always had my contact trials ready for me the day or a couple of days after my appointment. Even better they contact you the day your glasses, or contacts come in and are ready to be picked up, because of our hectic schedule as Long Islanders, it usually takes me 2 days to go to the office and actually pick them up. Even by being late on my account, they seem to always have my stuff ready to go. 6. Making an appointment is pretty easy, and very quick to do. There are two doctors, Dr. Napolitano and Dr. Liang, if you want to see one over the other just simply specify that and I'm pretty sure they will figure something out for you. For example, there was a time where I needed to see Dr. Napolitano due to a medical reason, although she wasn't in the Mineola location, she was in the Middle Village location, they called the other practice and scheduled an appointment for me the same exact day! Of course people are always spectacle about new doctors and change, but Dr. Liang is also an amazing doctor and does the perfectly as so does Dr. Napolitano. In conclusion, I hope I was helpful! :) I would highly recommend this practice to anyone, in fact, I already do! read more

Truly awful experience here. Terrible customer service and abysmal medical care. There was over a two hour wait for a regular, scheduled appointment and the doctor let other patients with non-emergency appointments jump ahead of people who had been waiting. On top of this, the doctor rushed through my appointment, skipped two necessary tests in the typical eye exam, and then gave me the wrong prescription. I only found out after ordering glasses from a different vendor and taking them to a new doctor to get my eyes rechecked when my vision was worse with my new glasses. It wasn't the worst experience, but close. I first went for an annual eye exam in 2017 after reading positive reviews online. I had recently moved into town and needed a new doctor. I arrived on time for my appointment, but the office seemed surprised that I was there and didn't realize that there was an appointment scheduled. Regardless, they took me in when they recognized their scheduling mistake. Dr. Laing was very nice and gave a thorough exam. She explained that the prescription that I've been using for the past fifteen years was wrong and that I needed a different prescription that was weaker. I found that odd that my vision could improve, but went along with it anyway since she's a doctor. I then came back in 2018 for another annual exam and not only were they not prepared for my appointment AGAIN, but Dr. Laing wasn't even there and sent "a friend" to examine my eyes. He was rude and treated me like I was a simpleton who has never had an eye exam before. I've been wearing glasses for over 30 years. He again, gave me a different prescription and sent me on my way. I ordered glasses with the new prescription and low and behold - they're too weak. I cannot see for distance with the new prescription and I've wasted hundreds of dollars on new glasses that cannot be adjusted. Summary - 20/20 Eye Care is totally disorganized and a waste of time and money. read more

Received an eye exam for glasses and contact lens. Found out that my insurance didn't cover the prescription for contact lens except only for a pair of glasses and the prescription for it. I didn't want to pay $75 for a contact lens prescription so I decided to just stick with the glasses and prescription since that was all covered. Receptionist tells me I am all set and I leave the store, and minutes later I receive a phone call that I didn't pay for my contact lens prescription. I told them I didn't want it and just to put the order for the glasses. About 2 weeks later, I haven't received a phone call or anything so I called to check in the status of my order. I was informed that I had to wait since the order was placed through my insurance. Alright..I guess that makes sense. A month later, still no word so I decided to call again. I'm being told now that since I never paid for my contact lens exam, the order for my glasses was voided. I explained that I never wanted the contact lens just the glasses. But because I already had the exam for the contact lens and I didnt pay for it, they decided to void my order for glasses+ prescription as well. Does that make any sense at all? Why am I being informed about this now? No one thought it'd be a good idea to tell me before I left the store or the 2nd phone call I made? I don't understand what they're even worried about and what the big deal is. Sure I had the exam for the contact lens. But I never received any paper work, so even if I wanted to, I wouldn't be able to order contact lens anywhere else without that prescription. I didn't have a problem with the Optometrist. She was friendly and knew what she was doing. That's where the stars for this review comes in. However, I don't agree with how they do their business here and their lack of service and care. It's a shame that this has to be a negative review. Dr. Napolitano has always been very professional, the office is immaculate and service was very pleasant. I had been very pleased for the several years my daughter and I went there for eye examinations and ordered many sets of contact lenses and glasses with expensive designer frames, all of which were fitted with care. After spending hundreds, even thousands of dollars at 20/20 Eye Care, everything changed when I told them I was getting Lasik surgery and needed just one pair of contacts to use until my surgery. They refused to order ONE pair for me! First, they made me come in and spend hundreds of dollars on an eye exam because "it had been over two years since my last exam." Then they made me order the" minimum" which was two boxes (one for each different eye prescription) for hundreds of dollars more. Then when I called and told them my surgery was scheduled before the contacts had come in and I wanted to cancel that order, they said it was "too late" because the contacts had already been ordered, and all they could do was credit me for the contacts, MINUS a 25%" restocking" fee! I did not need their expensive exam, because of course I was to be thoroughly examined by the Lasik doctor before surgery, which 20/20 knew was going to take place. I would NOT recommend 20/20 Eye Care to anyone who was concerned about wasting their money. They seem to me to be more interested in their profits than their customers. I would have given them four stars originally, because I thought they were good, although very expensive. However, after my parting experience with their protocol, I am giving them just one star. I shopped for glasses at 2020 eye care a few years ago and decided to return this May. This has been the worst experience ever. There was something different during my first visit this year, something was off - the staff didn't seem to care about anything. Then they made a mistake with my eyeglass prescription and when I still didn't feel comfortable with the glasses I asked to speak to the doctor. The response was the doctor doesn't speak to customers. If I wanted to speak to the doctor I had to make an appointment. I came to 2020 eye care for glasses not to see their doctor, I have my own eye doctor. Then Rosa decided to get involved, she's the office manager, she offered little explanation and repeated said I'm sorry. I also find their prices are much higher than other places and so now I am left with glasses that I feel I overpaid for and need to clean them every few minutes because they smudge and I can't see clearly. Wow, I just have to say wow! My wife posted a review with 1 star several days ago and it was removed after the the business was claimed by the owner. On top of that I see four 5 star reviews posted on the same day at the same time (on 10/21/2016, which are all likely fake), 3 of whom happen to be friends with each other on yelp... Come on Yelp, you aren't going to do anything about that? This place is very shady, I went in to get my eyes checked and contact lenses and the staff at the front desk claimed certain items were covered by insurance but after all was said and done they said it wasn't and we needed to pay out of pocket. I also witnessed a lady come in stating that her glasses provided no difference and it turned out they gave her the wrong prescription. I wish I could have recorded this to post as proof of how shady this place is. If you don't want to waste 1 to 2 hours of your time, then stay away from this place. And a message to Yelp - If my review get's removed I will post this all over social media with a print of the page showing the four fake reviews (all on 10/21/2016) along with my review being removed. Agree with all the reviews below about this place being a waste of money and shady. Went in for the first time for an eye exam (I wear glasses on a regular basis) and possible contacts (which I wear only intermittently). Got the exam, and when asked, said I would like more contacts and they subsequently did a contact fitting exam AFTER checking to see if my insurance covered it. I get a call 3 days later stating that my insurance doesn't cover the contact fitting exam and they want me to pay $85 for it. How is it my fault that your front of house staff is incompetent and can't check to see what's covered; and now I have to pay $85 for an exam I wouldn't have gotten if I knew my insurance wasn't going to cover it. The whole situation is ridiculous and I'm paying extra for the incompetency of the staff at this office. I had no problem with the optometrist herself, who was very nice and professional, but the same can't be extended to everyone else. I got a GROUPON coupon online and was anxious to get a new pair of glasses. Went to 20/20 and spent $800 (no insurance) on a new pair (that's $800 out of pocket WITH the GROUPON). They were progressive and very streamlined, but I had confidence I'd be fine. ... Well, I tried them on and there was very little focus within the lenses. It was all an accident waiting to happen. ...To top it all off, the doctor was very unapologetic. Said there was nothing she could do (Hey, It's YOUR practice, you can do whatever you like!!!) ...I then ordered a different pair. Again, unusable. ... I was all set to report her for her devious practice when we both agreed to disagree. I walked out of there with $400 and the frames (they'd scratched out the lenses so they couldn't be used). ... All in all it's a bad attitude and uncaring optometrist. ... Stay away, stay away... repeat... stay away!!! read more

One star means stay away. I had an eye exam, paid for two pair of glasses on April 11th. It is now June 12th and they are still wrong. I'll not go into detail upon their customer service, it's bad. Lack of communication on their part. It's as if once I paid I no longer mattered. One pair of glasses for sports did not fit the frames properly. In my line of business, if the vendor hands me something I can see is blatantly wrong then I'll be damed if I hand it to the client. The second time I got them back, they still did not fit the frames properly. They claimed to have rejected my first pair of everyday glasses which is why it took them so long to get back to me. However, they're still not correct after the second time. In all the years I've had glasses I've never come across such issues. Though the doctor is pleasant and knows her business I'm afraid her staff is not so cordial. What's worse is where ever they are having the glasses cut (which seems like out of the U.S.) they need to re-evaluate. It takes too long even if they came back correct. Coming back wrong is just a nightmare. The value of my review is contingent on how badly you need your glasses. I'll be looking for another place and paying once again for an exam and another pair of glasses. read more
