He is compassionate, caring, curious( asked my mother a lot of questions), persistent, HONEST( he would not do a surgery just to bang her insurance, which is a very good all inclusive plan), funny, very efficient, knows his stuff( he knew exactly where the DMV eye test forms were). He really connects with his patients and explains everything in simple words. My mother has been his patient for over 16 years. OCLI is a wonderful ophthalmology clinic that treats cataracts, diabetic eye issues, glaucoma, retina problems; also do LASIK. The office has modern equipment and machinery. It is clean.Alex was the great tech today who started the eye exam procedure. He was very patient,thorough and caring. We got there at 1 pm with 10 patients seated far away from each other with dividers. The flow was smooth and quick. Mom went in at 1:25 pm. We were done at 1:56 pm and ready to grab lunch. This office is centrally located in Mineola just a 5 minute drive from the Meadowbrook Pkwy. The appt process was beautiful and the day prior text for pre check in saved us a lot of time. No interpersonal skills. Staff is cold overworked, non responsive. The atmosphere is like an assembly line atmosphere. The doctor who performed my surgery couldn't have been more disinterested in her patient. Try getting through to them on the phone. It's impossible. Just awful all around. I would not recommend this location. Appointments are always behind. The check-in kiosks are out of order, and the staff need to be told so. The last time I waited for 45 minutes then asked when will I been seen and they had to check with the manager. This has been my experience with this location for years. They are always behind and never communicate to you until you ask. Doctors also leave unexpectedly and you have to restart with a new one. I saw one of my eye doctors from this location at a different OCLI office and they were efficient and timely. So the issue is with this Mineola location management. Both the front office and patient management processes need improvement. Spending 4 hours at an eye appointment is ridiculous. read more

Charging for a prescription is illegal ! It violates Federal Law. I Went for a complete eye exam and was told I had to pay $50 for a prescription. that is illegal. You can Google "FTC complying with the eyeglass rules" and you will learn that "The Federal Trade Commission enforces the Eyeglass Rule. It requires eye doctors ― ophthalmologists and optometrists ― to give patients a copy of their prescription ― whether they ask for it or not. It's the law." "You have to give a patient a copy of the prescription immediately after completing any eye examination that includes a refraction, whether or not the patient asks for it." "Can I charge a fee for the prescription? No. You can't require patients to pay an extra fee, or buy eyeglasses or contact lenses in exchange for the prescription. You also can't require a patient to make a purchase from you in order to get an eye exam." read more

This is our second interaction with OCLI and both of them were negative. The first time I made an appt for my 16yo daughter and after we waited an hour to see the Dr, they informed us that Dr didnt see pediatric patients! Ummmm - didnt they see her date of birth when we made the appt?!?!?! Or the fact that she had CHILD HEALTH PLUS as her insurance??? So Many Issues! Today we arrived at the office and were told that the doctor my daughter was scheduled to see doesn't accept her insurance - the insurance we provided when we made the appt! Hello - things maybe the person making the appt should have known???? They agreed to see her anyway. OK great. The technician was sweet and wonderful. I made sure they knew she exclusively wears contact lenses. If i said it once, I said it 5 times. I told the technician and the doctor (who was 100 years old and should have been well past retirement). We check out, and I get a prescription for eyeglasses. I said that's great, where's the contact lense prescription - the girl at the desk tells me - we don't do contact lens prescriptions!!! WTF!?!?!? This is literally the WORST place ever - avoid it at all costs people! read more

Nope. I called to make an appt. I made it for 2. Yesterday they were arguing with me, telling me it was for 1:30. No big deal except for the fact I'm positive it was at 2. When I called to Make the appt, I asked several times about my insurance card. They said it's fine. Well, I got there they said no this isn't the updated one blah blah blah. Waited an hour past our scheduled appointment and no help from the staff. This seems to be normal at any of their locations. Have diagnosis reviewed / second opinion because they sell you services that you don't need ... that's what happened in my I Irish experience with them and all of the follow ups since they gave me double vision in the eye that they worked on ..... read more

Been using and recommending OCLI for 10 years. However, over the last 4 years for annual check-up it been nothing but a nightmare. I went for annual eye check-up yesterday 11/29/30.They send me a post cards and e mails on regular basis at least 3 times a month. I asked them to send my prescription to eye glass store at first I was told the don't do that. When I said I have to drive 20 miles in 5.00 o'clock traffic to personally hand it to them. They said yes! I said in the past they use to Fax it over. To their reluctance they agree. I would only find out the the prescription written incorrectly. The optometrist call and got no response in solving the problem. I called several time to only find out the you are calling a call/phone bank. You CAN NOT Call the OFFICE DIRECTLY TO SOLVE A PROBLEM THAT THEY CREATED. Last year had similar situation and it took 6 Days to a simple Prescription to optometrist. Now they have to correct a mistake. They said the from a call/phone bank they will send an e mail to the office. It other words it will go into the Abssy we are not really concerned. I had the worst experience with Dr Boozan in Mineola today . He has the worst bedside manner. He came in , without warning put 2 drops of some medicine in my eyes , examined for like 1 minute ,prescribed a medicine and left without any explaination. I have never seen any doctor worse than him . He looked like he didnt wanted to see any patient today. Never going to him ever again . I want to give 0 rating to him as a doctor . read more

I had an appt with Dr Trubnik...sat in the waiting room for 2 hours. The waiting room had practically emptied out when I was finally called to see the doctor and made known my displeasure. I was told she had been seeing patients that had surgery the previous day and were backed up. I see a woman in the examination room diagonally across from me who had walked into the OCLI waiting room just moments before. She hadn't even sat down when her name was called. Dr Trubnik saw her before coming in to see me for all of my 10 minutes with her. Her solution for the 2 hour wait was to make an appt earlier in the day. After waiting months to get an appointment, I guess I should have bartered for an early morning appt so that we could have extended my appt wait time to one year. Stupidly, I made an appt for the following year before leaving...the first appt I was offered was 12 pm. I am not going back. I wasn't that impressed for the more than two hours I spent there. Maybe take your patients in the order of their appointment. After all, you sent me two text messages, an email and even called my house on Sunday to confirm my 11:15 appointment, not 1:15! read more

Had a visit for an exam with Dr Boozan and I must say he was pretty thorough and polite. Had a very bad experience with another MD there and was extremely hesitant to stop in again but I'm happy I did. Mike was cool too and the young lady that checked me in and out at the front desk was also a comfort. Will def return for future vision exams with and only with Dr Boozan. read more

My husband received laser surgery in April and May of this year. The surgery was supposed to take the pressure off of his corneas and we believe that it was successful. However, the billing system for this office is CRAZY. None of the four invoices that he has received have been accurate. Even though he paid the first bill in entirety, the second bill a month later reflected the same charges as the first bill, with an exception of a charge that really gave him a $10 credit. The first two bills were for charges for his right eye. The third bill reflected charges from the first two bills, even though by now he had paid 2 payments to OCLI. Neither payments were reflected on the 2nd or 3rd bills. The 4th bill now just deals with his second surgery. I have advised my husband to request a Statement of Account so that he can see all charges and all payments to date. I think that if I was not capable of going through and seeing the double charges, my husband would have just overpaid. For this reason, I will make a call tomorrow morning and cancel my cataract surgery and find a doctor/office that can do it and charge me honestly and bill me in a coherent fashion. I am positive that there has to be an ophthalmologist that has better practices than this office. read more

Dr Trubnik is fine but the office and office personnel are disasters. 3 hour wait for an 8:30 am appointment. Then they started to treat my wife for glaucoma. She does not have this. The appointment was a follow up for a cataract operation done the day before. read more

I was very disappointed with my appointment with Dr. Boozan on February 2nd. I came in for an unknown issue I've been dealing with for which I was hoping to find answers. While the reception and medical staff were friendly enough, I did not receive the same hospitality from Dr. Boozan. My intake information session with the nurse was tedious. She had me repeat my symptoms half a dozen times, and had never heard of a single mediation I took and kept spelling and pronouncing them incorrectly. When it came time to prep me for my examination, things were not explained well. She put two rounds of drops in my eyes which I later learned were dilation drops and a numbing drop to follow. I didn't understand this at the time and thought the feeling of "wanting to scratch your eyes out", as she so gracefully put it, was going to come during my exam with the doctor. She sent me back into the waiting room to wait for my time with the doctor while I cried and was close to panic because my eyes felt uncomfortable and I didn't know what was going on. Nobody acknowledged my discomfort. When I was finally brought back in to see the doctor, the whole thing lasted about two minutes. I explained to him all the symptoms I had and the fact that they ebbed and flowed and that for the last few days, I was on the lighter end of my usual discomfort. He took this to mean nothing was wrong (which was incorrect). He looked at my eyes and gave information to another nurse who wrote it down. I didn't know what the things they were writing down meant and nothing was explained to me during the exam. He then quickly used a flashlight to look at my eyes and the exam was over. He said my eyes looked fine and were healthy and nothing was wrong. I asked if he had recommendations for other types of specialists or any ideas of what he thought my issue could be since we ruled out anything he could see. He clearly thought that if he couldn't see anything, then I'm not experiencing anything. He didn't have a single thing to say, literally said no and shook his head. As I attempted to ask more questions, he ushered me out the door. Listen, maybe I'm a bit naive because I'm only in my late 20s and have never been to a doctor of this type, but I was not properly prepped by OCLI for my visit. I had no idea that they were going to dilate my eyes. I HAD DRIVEN MYSELF TO MY APPOINTMENT AND COULDN'T LEAVE! If I had known they'd be doing this, I obviously would've made other travel arrangements. One last thing for anyone with autoimmune issues or other medical issues that can affect the eyes. This doctor didn't ask me a SINGLE thing about my Crohns Disease despite the fact that any eye care professional should know eye complications are a symptom of the disease. I find it negligent for an ophthalmologist to neglect such a relevant issue at an eye exam. Even optometrists ask me about my disease during visits. In the end, I received absolutely no help from the doctor and was stranded for several hours. I would not recommend OCLI or Dr. Boozan if you're having symptoms that aren't immediately diagnosable, because they won't help you here. read more

If I could give this place less than a star I would. Every time I've booked an appointment, I've had to sit in the waiting room for over 2 hours without being seen with 50+ other people. The staff is rude and the doctor is horrible. The OCLI in Garden City is nothing like this, they're great. This place SUCKS. read more

As a first timer, I couldn't have chosen a better location!!! Friendly and professional staff. Loved the hospitality when I walked in the office which is clean and COVID compliant. The technician, Shannah, gave me a seamless eye exam. Very nice young lady!! Dr. William Boozan, explained everything right down to any concerns I've had with my eyes. Went to Dr Laud for a retina exam as referred by my MD. Very efficient office, staff very professional. Did a thorough Covid screening with temp check and screening questions. read more

If your appointment is, say, at 4 pm, expect to not see the doctor for at least an hour. Ridiculous every time I've been here.
