Her five day respite stay allowed us to get a handle on what would be needed when she was brought home. We were taught how to reposition her since she became paralyzed after suffering a massive stroke. We were taught how to give her medications since she can no longer swallow. Things I never wanted to learn but now have to know. The people here have a special calling. I cannot imagine what it must be like to work with so many people who are transitioning into the final stage of their life as they go through the dying process. So many of them told my mother and me that it was an absolute privilege to do this type of work. All I know is that I am grateful there are caregivers like them out there for people like us. On a separate note, the home health team from Alive Hospice has also been great. I am grateful for these angels on earth to be here and give my grandmother peace, dignity and respect as her little body shuts down.

My brother stayed here for a few days after a recent hospital stay. My brother had defecated in his bed as he is unable to walk at this time and was left for 3 hours like this despite several requests to change him. It took a call to management before the situation was remedied. A few days later the same situation occurred at which time my brother became upset and began to act out. He suffers from brain injury after several strokes so rather than try to work with him, they sent him to a hospital once again. He will not be returning to this facility and I would not recommend them.

Dr. Sharpe did not recognize when I went into tolerance while taking a benzodiazepine prescribed by…read morehim. He increased the dosage and tried other medications. When this didn't work, it was only at my request to be taken off the benzodiazepine. I was informed by him a rapid taper method that he developed was the safest way to come off the medication. He conducted a four day rapid taper that completely paralyzed me. After researching it was realized this was the worse, most inhumane way to take someone off a benzodiazepine. The failure to appropriately taper me off the medication has cost me over a year off my life, and put me through pure hell. If you are taking a benzodiazepine and looking for help please do not visit Dr. Sharpe. His lack of education or refusal to believe the consequences of being rapidly tapered can be extremely devastating.

Peace is worth contending for and I am blessed to share that I have found peace of heart, mind and…read moresoul through Rock House. Through the 16-week program, which at times I needed more (by spending additional time on certain chapters) to dismantle the grip of lies through fear and trauma, I am in awe of the daily, tangible peace I have now have intimate access to. My stellar counselor, Shannan, was willing to continue those chapters with me to go further in my healing and fight alongside of me for the territory of my heart. In addition to the chapters, the weekly podcasts were practical, at times witty, and richly empowering to listen to John and Beth share from the deep well of their experiences, inviting all to living the abundant life in Christ. I am grateful for Shannan's unwavering encouragement to see the Lord moving in my heart, especially when I was blind to my own growth. Her encouragement and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit is a gift! What once held me hostage to grief is now merely a whisper. The road to growth and transformation isn't easy work, but it's the greatest investment we can make for ourselves. Shannan stayed with me faithfully and didn't leave me in the valleys and mountain tops of breakthrough throughout this journey. My husband and I both have completed Rock House.
