Most are foreign to the experience of dealing with ones final days and we hope to be a comfort and help as you take in the experience, making it just a bit easier during difficult times. Before I began with Alive, volunteering in the not for profit sector was vital in my decision process and I am so glad that I have decided on Alive. I think that our care is second to none as being restricted by profit can often present a barrier to the time that each family may be in need of. I transferred the patient from wheelchair to recliner however, I needed assistance from staff to help me re-position. The staff came to the room, told patient to stand up and use the walker and position herself on the recliner. The staff was very rude and hesitant to help, stated I had to do everything for the patient and left.

The owners of this conglomerate should try staying there themselves for just desserts for a few months

And worse a nurse put in notes they spoke to me this past week when I've not heard a word from anyone from there for weeks! This all causes so much more stress to the family , not feeling heard or understood , not contacted but stating they are in touch is deceptive ! It's hard enough to deal with slowly losing a loved one - the patient cannot always give accurate info & if family is ignored or concerns not address then potential for lack of treatment or insufficient treatment is likely .

Our old girl hated going to the Vet's Office, despite the amazing care she received there. It was…read morereally important to us that Pepper take her final breath at our home, peacefully. Dr Kamrae Elliott made that happen for us. I completed the form on the website when we were ready to say our goodbyes as Pepper had lung and bladder cancer. I had a phone in less than an hour, at night, from a very compassionate lady that asked me all the necessary questions and schedule Dr Elliott for the next day. Dr Elliott called us the next day to let us know she was on schedule and would be at our home soon. She took time to let Pepper get comfortable with her and she gave her a sedating shot while we loved on our girl. Pepper relaxed and eventually with a bit more sedative, she went to sleep. The IV was administered after she was resting. Dr Elliott gave us all the time we needed between each step. Pepper passed peacefully on her favorite part of the couch, surrounded by her family. It was so peaceful even when Dr Elliott took Pepper with her. I pictured a very clinical setting at the end, but it was so thoughtful and peaceful. She was treated like our baby to the end. We chose private creamation and Faithful Companion is the crematory she went to. They were also incredible and kind. Pepper passed on a Wednesday afternoon and was back home with us by Friday night, I highly recommend this service to anyone that needs it. And thank you, Lap of Love for offering your services.
