He ordered multiple pairs of glasses for me to try out. It took about a week to get glasses in to try on. I purchased the Barton Perreira Ogden and Taupin both in a matte chestnut (they're a Barton Perreira dealer). I also purchased a custom, polarized sunglass clip for the Ogden in green tint, which blends with the frame flawlessly. It takes about 7-10 days to get your prescription glasses once they're ordered. In addition to the stellar service I received, Ron and Alex honored the 20% discount on a second frame that they offered over the phone, which lured me into the shop. This is a high end glasses frame shop but it also comes with a bit of attitude from some of the people that work here. Minutes after we walked in the lady who was working told my husband that it was good he was looking for new glasses because the ones he is currently wearing don't fit him well. He was so ticked since he wasn't even looking for new regular frames, he was looking for sunglasses. The owner is very personable but does like to talk at length about jazz concerts, trips to the beach, and Ferrari's. I'm not cool with other employees or owners talking down to their employees and that happened on one occasion when we were here. I find that very unprofessional and embarrassing for both the person being put down and also for myself to have to be in that situation. I received a phone call when my husbands glasses were ready to be picked up and was told that he would have to call back and make an appointment for a fitting. I asked her what the hours were [so I could tell my husband when to call] and she said in a firm voice HE HAS TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. After all that when the husb went in for a fitting there was no record of his appointment and they had lost the original of his prescription. This is one of those places that I would put up with the things I don't like [namely very spotty service]...only because they have a good selection of designer frames. read more

I was referred by a law school student after I commented "that those were the best looking glasses I have ever seen on you" (and I have known him since he was 3 years old). After reading the reviews on Yelp, I decided I better do a realistic review. I would not call the staff quirky, they practice eclecticism - making decisions on the basis of what seems best instead of following some single doctrine or style. Honestly, it beats trusting your vision to an employee at a franchise mall type eyeglass store counting on quantity rather than quality products. Would you take your Ferrari to Jiffy Lube? Ron not only picked out several frames that suited my face, he also chose frames in several different price ranges. Yes, you will not get franchise eyeglass store prices in here (and once told the price, your heart may skip a few beats) but you will get quality lens and Ron will make you take your glasses on and off as many times as it takes to make sure the glasses are adjusted to fit your face AND height. Frankly, I found the so-called "quirky" owner and staff to be delightful and a breath of fresh air. I will definitely continue to use 20-20 Eyes for my eyeglasses and have recommended the office to several friends and to all of the people that have commented on my terrific frames!!!!! read more

Without getting into too many details about my experience at 2020 Eyes and Mr. Kehoe, let me just say that many of the other comments and rating of 3 stars or less are right in line with my experience. Although the professionalism is some what there, and the frames are unique, the rudeness and immaturity of this business owner, leaves much to be desired. If only I could upload the rude and disappointing email that Mr. Kehoe sent me, you would be utterly shocked. Keep in mind, as a consumer, who does not want a better price, if found. The response I received from Mr. Kehoe, only due to mentioning I found the frames a bit less, was like igniting an oil refinery. Again, I wish I could upload the email. At any rate, he stated that he was removing me as a client, which suits me just fine. I've been getting my glasses at 2020 Eyes since 2013 and could not be happier. My first visit was the result of a recommendation from my golf coach. She said that Ron could tailor progressive sunglass lenses that would work on the course. She was right and he did! I no longer struggle with the changes from one focal length to the next or removing the glasses all together to hit the ball. I've been going here for years now (everything in my first review still applies!). I am so appreciative of the way Alex and Ron helped me work through a new prescription since my vision has been going through some changes. My optometrist commented that Alex asked really smart questions while working through this process. I wish I had read these reviews describing the lack of professionalism and customer service before I decided to visit 20 20 eyes. It would have saved me a lot of time, trouble and frustration. My first impression of 20 20 eyes was initially very good - the owner Ron bent over backwards to help fix my glasses the first time they broke, which he was able to do in record time, and I noticed that he had great taste given the selection of frames. However, this impression completely changed after the second time I called about a repair. After dropping off my broken piece, I called a few days later to ask how it was going. Ron proceeded to chew me out due to a simple miscommunication about his hours. He spoke to me as if I were a child and harshly blamed me for inconveniencing him and his friends because I didn't show up at the expected time ( I misheard the time him over the phone). My reaction was shock because, as a customer, I had never had a business owner speak to me so rudely, even if I had made a mistake! He ended the conversation saying he'd call me when the glasses would be ready, which he said would be a couple days. After a couple of weeks without hearing from him, I called again to follow up. He told me that he had misplaced the piece to my glasses, and that he'd call me right back. Again, I waited weeks without hearing back. Thankfully, a friend who lives by his shop helped me by stopping by to ask about my glasses. It turns out he had the broken piece to my glasses, gave it to my friend, and told him he was sorry but he wasn't going to fix them. So for me, my experience was a negative one in two ways: 1) He rudely scolded me over an innocent miscommunication; and 2) he neglected to follow through with what he said he would do, and even more-so, he didn't inform me of this. Despite the stylish selection of frames, I'm rather confident I can repair my specs and find just as fashionable a frame elsewhere, and without the hassle! read more

Granted, the frames are high end and unique but each time I'm in I want to leave because the owner and employees are full of hubris and are just rude. Lighten up folks - customer service, remember? I too was told after going in when the store was open that I 'should have made an appointment' - well if that is how they plan to work, why have a store with open hours? Best glasses, I live out of town and I still don't go anywhere else! I've purchased many glasses from Ron at 2020, he has great taste and really wants you to have the best glasses for your face and style. He takes all the time needed to really get things right and if I come in without an appointment, needing something fixed, he puts his costumers with appointments as a priority, but will squeeze me in in between appointments, which I respect because that is how he runs his business. Ron's personality can definitely be egotistic and sarcastic, to say the least, but that is just his personality, and he does a good enough job that you just have to roll with the punches and even throw some back at him for the small amount of time you're in there for. Overall, I think he does a really great job and loves what he does, and his personality may be overwhelming but try to pull through to get the best glasses in the area. read more

I think you'll find what you're looking for there. It's a better selection of glasses than most any shop I've been to--even those on Chestnut and Union in SF. And they care very much about quality. These folks apply expert knowledge of optics (that I know I'll never completely understand) in a very personal way. Though not super-low budget-priced, in my opinion, this shop has fair prices in especially tasteful modern and retro looks. I was referred to 2020 by a friend. Previously I had been going to Lens Crafters but they wouldn't help me with replacing the lenses of my expensive rimless glasses. Not only did 2020 replace my lenses, they completely fitted my glasses in a way I had never before experienced. Furthermore, they explained to me why my previous attempts to wear progressive lenses had failed due to an improper fitting. Ron was very helpful and knowledgeable about lenses, he went into great detail as to how faulty my current lenses were and why they were giving me such problems...I had no idea! Although, it took longer than expected for the lenses to be finished, he made up for it by upgrading the frames with an anti-reflective coating at no additional charge!! Very cool. The owner, Ron Kehoe, is quirky (some say very opinionated) service needs an appointment, it is also expensive; it is also the best service you will receive in the Sacramento area and probably California. Ron will carefully help you choose from the enormous selection of frames and then just as carefully help you through the many lens options. He will also take the time to carefully adjust the fit of the frames to your face - definitely hand-tailored fit for your vision. In the past I always just bought inexpensive (cheap) readers to see the small print. Having always had 20/20 vision until reaching the age.....that I needed glasses, you know what I am talking about the squinting and holding the paper in the best light possible anything to not admit you can't really read it. So hence at a friends referral I decided to step up my game and actually go to someone and get REAL glasses besides Rite-Aids :) At 20/20 Eyes I found the professionals I needed, and as a bonus the selection is beyond compare, I could spend hours perusing the different frames and styles! The prices of course are more than what I had been paying but well worth it when you take into consideration what Ron and Alex do each and every day to ensure their customers are happy and keep coming back. After buying several pairs of glasses here because of the selection, I just could not listen to another of Ron's egotistical stories along with his questions about the people I know. Really, Ron? I have to know the right people in order to overpay you? And I just found out from a friend who has been paying 20/20 an exorbitant amount for lenses due to a stigmatism that an optometrist in a different city identified those lenses as substandard. After my friend got new lenses for about the same price from the new optometrist, his vision has improved significantly. read more

first off- i can percieve the basis for the negative reviews. fully. that's all i'm going to say about that. 2nd- i had a pair of very expensive prada sunglasses that i'd spent an additional $150 on to turn into prescription. making them worth nearly $500. one day, a very curious 5 year old somehow ripped the hinges out of the sides ruining them and i was distraut. prada didn't make them anymore which meant that when i took them to eye designs (went to roseville then to arden) they looked at them for 2 or 3 days and said they couldn't fix them. then i took them to lenscrafters who told me positively they could help and then i got a call back 2 or 3 days later saying they couldn't. i basically had a fragmented pair of italian shades that i was ready to disgustedly throw in the trash. until i remembered this place, talking to the owner on the phone he told me in very str8forward/rushed terms that he could "probably fix them". i thought "what do i have to lose" so i took them in. gave them to him. and less than a week later i received a call saying they were "ready'. i could barely believe it. they did a job that NO one else could. and for a fee of $80 (which i'll say was a little more than i was initially quoted, i was charged $80 with little explanation) i had them back, good as brand new. i don't regret coming here for this AT ALL. however.... i'm not entirely sure with vsp insurance that i rely on i'll be going there again for an exam or a new pair of specs. no. but like i said overall a VERY positive experience. read more

Absolutely horrible service. The older man- who I assume is the owner?- talked in a condescending tone to my father and me the ENTIRE time. We went in to get my dad's glasses fixed; the film on his lenses is coming off, and while my dad did initially buy their expensive European lens cleaner (at their suggestion), he was NEVER told not to use any other cleaner on them. Upon hearing this, the owner literally looked at my dad and said "well, if my tire runs out of air, who's fault is it? It's mine. This is clearly your fault." These are not cheap glasses; these are 600$ glasses. And even though they were under warranty through August, the owner was adamant that it was my dad's fault for not not coming in sooner. I completely understand that yes, it is two and a half months past warranty- but there was no understanding on this man's part; no "putting the customer first" attitude; he was just rude. I would highly recommend another place if you need to get glasses AND want good, positive, kind service. read more
