Visited for dinner 3x this year and the new owners seem to have focused on the food being better. Gone twice for Friday night fish fry and the quality of the fish has been a pleasant surprise. I distinctly remember last year coming in later in the evening for a fish fry and getting a baked potato that was a dried out relic. Ordered one this year and it was fresh and hot. Little things like that make a big difference. Fish seems to be hand breaded and they also offered a broiled option which comes with delicious garlic butter to dip it in. You can get soup and salad bar and the soup is always good although the salad bar can be a bit picked over if you come in later like we tend to... My dad has ordered the drunken captain chicken twice and raves about it. Even the picky eaters in our family are content going there. We had the same waitress on a couple trips and she is so friendly and attentive you never have an empty drink. I would say my only complaint is the old fashioned. They are so small you take a couple sips and it's empty. Bigger Glasses! Overall it seems like they are intent on moving this place in the right direction. It used to be the top spot in town and hopefully it is again! Lots of things to do...pool tables, video games, and they always seem to have music, trivia, karaoke or something going on. The exterior of the ketchup and the tarter sauce condiment bottles on the table were really gross; seems they don't get cleaned much. We got our check without any delay (two beers and two 2-piece fish baskets = $35) and left after paying our bill so as to free up the table for someone else.

They are welcome, and there is plenty of space to run around, toss a football, launch rockets, explore, catch crickets... 4. The beer. I am not a huge fan of Belgian or farmhouse style beers, which were the selection when we visited, but I know the selection changes frequently, and for not being a fan of these styles typically, I drank the entirety of each of my samples, and it was fun to explore a style that I would not have otherwise done. 5. The car hop brought out my order in a plastic basket and the drink in a plastic glass. I was in my car and was expecting a tray that would sit on the driver's window for easy eating, but that did not happen. I asked the young lady for a tray and she did bring it out. I then examined my order and discovered soggy lukewarm fries, foot long hotdog with skin that was so tough it would not be cut by a plastic knife. In the great state of Wisconsin, known for its cheese, this dog had cheese whiz and nothing that resembled chili. It was a brown liquid with chili flavor but no onions, beans or hamburger. What a disappointment! This stand is only summer seasonal and makes it money on repeat business - which I will not be among that crowd. They had a golden opportunity to bring a new venue to town with very little added cost but a world of new place to enjoy. Sorry Custers but it is my last stand if this is how it will be going forward.

When I call a manager I'm not calling for free food. I'm calling to let you have the information for you to fix it going forward. Up to them. So as you see in the photo you could tear the garlic bread in half and make a steak slider out it. It's to bad that restaurants have to order from Sysco or US foods. With all the meat markets we have here. Totally changes the flavor of the meat for the better and has more vitamins getting it from a local meat market versus the highly processed foods and meats from the national chain. But a restaurant hands are tied. Why Sysco blocks local meat sourcing 1. Exclusive purchasing contracts Most Sysco agreements require: * 80-100% of food spend through Sysco * Meat is always included in that requirement Buying steaks from a local butcher = contract violation. Ok so to finish up. The Ambiance feel is a combination sports bar with cabin feel. Lastly when we walked in there were folks at tables spaced away from each other all over the restaurant. I truly love that. You can talk in private at your table. But as we say there they filled nearly every table around our table. Before the restaurant and former restaurant folks start. I worked in restaurants so has my family some of them their entire lives some even own restaurants so. I fully know and understand how seating works with fairness to waitstaff. I also understand that if someone was getting off work you'd fill the seats of the waitstaff that still working through. But there were a ton of empty tables. No need to rack and stack us on top of each other. Kills the vibe. If a restaurant is empty as this one was at that time. In summary great staff. Bland food.
