The reason I gave 2 stars and not one is solely the waitress. She was great.Continually coming by making sure the table had everything. Serving with a genuine warm smile. Not often you get waitstaff that has an actual caring attitude. She absolutely did with our table and the others around us. Now the food is pretty good. Could be better with some simple spices. Prices are a little on the high side. Not outrageous, but I ate here a few years back and knew the prices were a little high. With that said. Ordered a fried catfish other person ordered a combo club soup and sandwich seemed a proper size sandwich.The Cajun catfish was good but bland. The sandwich tasted good. I didn't taste the soup. Ordered a Steak and Caesar salad it comes with garlic bread, I added mashed potatoes and steamed veggies to go. 2 pieces of chocolate cake. We also had an 4 seasons appetizer platter. It was pretty good. The steak meal was to go. Now I must accept responsibility for not checking the to go bag and not making sure the waitress knew we wanted the mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. Reason I say that. Is I ordered a steak from another line that came with wild rice. So i did change to the other steak meal. So I get home and open all the boxes and a salad was in big box. Chocolate cake in the other 2 big boxes, and the Big Mac size box had the steak and garlic bread in it. I assumed the steak meal was one of the bigger boxes. Why would you put a steak in the box with the bread it will make it soggy. It did. But I opened the boxes and was shocked. Now I wasn't expecting a tomahawk steak. But wow. I grabbed my food scale and weighed the steak. I went on Chat gpt and asked if a steak weighed 6oz would it cook down that small,Chat said no. A normal 6oz steak would have cooked to 4-5 oz. I'm sure folks on here will debate this. So there is the picture and information. I did call the manager and he said next time I come in let him know he'd take care of it next time we come in. When I call a manager I'm not calling for free food. I'm calling to let you have the information for you to fix it going forward. Up to them. So as you see in the photo you could tear the garlic bread in half and make a steak slider out it. It's to bad that restaurants have to order from Sysco or US foods. With all the meat markets we have here. Totally changes the flavor of the meat for the better and has more vitamins getting it from a local meat market versus the highly processed foods and meats from the national chain. But a restaurant hands are tied. Why Sysco blocks local meat sourcing 1. Exclusive purchasing contracts Most Sysco agreements require: * 80-100% of food spend through Sysco * Meat is always included in that requirement Buying steaks from a local butcher = contract violation. Ok so to finish up. The Ambiance feel is a combination sports bar with cabin feel. Lastly when we walked in there were folks at tables spaced away from each other all over the restaurant. I truly love that. You can talk in private at your table. But as we say there they filled nearly every table around our table. Before the restaurant and former restaurant folks start. I worked in restaurants so has my family some of them their entire lives some even own restaurants so. I fully know and understand how seating works with fairness to waitstaff. I also understand that if someone was getting off work you'd fill the seats of the waitstaff that still working through. But there were a ton of empty tables. No need to rack and stack us on top of each other. Kills the vibe. If a restaurant is empty as this one was at that time. In summary great staff. Bland food. read more

Stopped in to have a quick lunch on the way through Rice Lake. The restaurant was nice with lodge type decor. We ordered the BLT and the Chicken Wrap. The BLT was a plain BLT just like you would expect, served with fries which were crispy and hot. The chicken wrap was served with tortilla chips, pico de gallo and sour cream on the side. My husband said it was good but could have used some type of another sauce in the wrap itself. The chicken was cooked perfectly. The tortilla chips and pico de gallo (Pace?) appeared to be store bought instead of made in house which was a little disappointing. Our server, Julie, was very attentive and pleasant. I've eaten here a handful of times and have found it to be a solid dining option. The food has always been appropriately hot/cold and the prices seem to be in line. As usual (thanks Yelp) I'd like to give it 3.5 stars, but not having the option, I'll give them a slight benefit. On my last trip, I really wanted something with Asian flavors. I gambled on their Spicy Thai Chicken Noodle Bowl and was pleasantly surprised. It was a nice portion and had great flavor with a mild kick. My dining partners had the wild rice meatloaf special and a hamburger with fries. They were each satisfied with their portion size and taste of their food. Where then does the lower score come from? Service. In each of my trips to the restaurant, I've left feeling the waitstaff was fully engaged. Never overly friendly and in the last visit, not observant. While we only wanted waters with our meal, our waitress never came back to refill the glasses. Additionally, the restaurant seems to always be in need of a deep cleaning. The taxidermy by our table was very dusty, there were several buckets of batteries inside the lobby; apparently waiting to be recycled. With a little TLC to the interior and better interaction with waitstaff, I'd be willing to go to 4.5 stars (if Yelp allowed such a thing). read more

Large space, abundant parking and many beers on tap - this place is an easy slam dunk. Even on one of the busiest weekends (4th of July) - we had great service. Adventures is known for their "perfect pour" on drinks and they cap the bottom of every cup with a magnet to allow for the perfect pour from the bottom up. I enjoy this because the marketing behind it is quite genius. Every consumer gets to keep the small magnet at the bottom of the glass cup once the drink is consumed making it for a fun adventure / keepsake / memory. The pineapple chicken teriyaki is my favorite meal, but I am disappointed to announce that on my second visit here, the meat was not cooked all the way. Therefore, I will rate this 4 stars. On a road trip and stopped here for lunch. We both liked it. It's got an extensive beer menu but as travelers we couldn't partake, sniff! I had the Brunclik burger. Grass fed beef and local cheese with lettuce pickles and fries. Cooked medium as I asked, it tasted very good. Fries were also good, crispy and plenty. My SO had a Wisconsin burger. Also cooked as asked it had bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce,pickle and came with a bunch of crispy fries. The only thing lacking was seasoning. Was okay, alright. Solid three. Unremarkable in a good way, I guess. It's just service could have been more attentive leaving me wanting, waiting between beers and for the check but that's just waitressing 101. Special sauerbraten meatballs weren't so good because they were tough but at least the flavors were nice. Spatzle needed gravy to be good, you'll have to ask for that. And this is the only place I've been served a nice warm soft butter packet in as long as I can remember. Overall okay. Pretty good selection of craft draft. read more

The service was unbelievably fast and these were probably the best chicken fajitas that I have outside of a Mexican restaurant. I totally enjoyed the spiked apple cider as well. I was staying in Barron for a work trip and this restaurant was well worth the drive. I highly recommend to anyone driving through. read more

Small town restaurant with a wide variety of classic food and drink. We stopped in for lunch on our way to a resort-attracted by the favorable reviews and their gluten-free items on the menu. We arrived around 11:30 on a Wednesday and were seated right away. By noon the place was pretty full with locals so is very popular. I ordered the Wisconsin burger (basically a bacon cheese burger-just OK), my wife got some soup and a house salad (fine but pretty basic) and my mother-in-law had the fajitas (simply broiled chicken and some veggies that had been put under the broiler-pretty sad-although it came with a ton of fixings). She liked it. For a small town, 8,000 people, this isn't a bad place to eat and at least it's a step up from one of the plethora of fast-food restaurants that are nearby. read more

After spending 4 days canoeing and camping down the Namekagon river north of Rice Lake, we were ready for something that wasn't trail food. After settling into our hotel and getting cleaned up, we decided it was time to eat. A quick search of the internet brought us to Adventures. We walked in and where promptly greeted. The hostess showed us to our table and said our server would be with us shortly. All the staff wore masks based on safety guidelines during this time of La Rona. All of the staff we interacted with was really pleasant, nice, and courteous. The atmosphere is very Northern Wisconsin... a lakeside cabin theme with canoes, kayaks, mounted fish, etc. We found it very welcoming. It almost has a big chain feel, but it's not a big chain. After four days of trail food everything on the menu looked amazing. My son had the Lumberjack Burger, I had the Wild Rice Meatloaf, and my friend had the Northstar Bison Burger. We also ordered the cheese curds as an appetizer for the table. The cheese curds were okay. I mean, you can't go wrong with cheese curds, but the breading seemed like it should be on fish, not cheese. However, it comes with this Chili sauce that is fantastic. The combination of both made for an excellent appetizer. We had ordered these to come out before our meals, but due to a mix up they ended up coming out the same time. Our server was very apologetic and took responsibility for the error. We assured her it was okay, honestly we didn't mind. As for the main courses. My friend liked his burger, and thought the fries that came with it were about perfect. I'm not sure my son actually chewed his burger or if he unhinged his jaw and swallowed it whole. What I do know is that he kept making "yum" sounds and didn't talk for about 10 minutes. If you know a 17 year old boy, then you understand what that means. I'll admit... after four days of trail food, that meatloaf tasted like the best thing I've ever eaten. It was really good. Wild Rice can be difficult to work with, if it's not cooked properly it's crunchy or chewy. This meatloaf was perfect. The mushroom gravy was excellent as well, and the mashed potatoes were just the way I like them. For desert my friend and I had cheesecake and my son had the Mexican fried ice cream. Each of us thought the deserts where delicious. If you're in the area and you're looking for a decent meal, you can't go wrong with Adventures. I know I'll keep it in mind the next time I'm up that way. read more

Good food and great service! We stopped on a Sunday afternoon on our way back from the cabin. We had the wild rice corn chowder, curds with sweet chili sauce (yum!!!!) and split the wild rice meatloaf with mashed potatoes. Our server told us it had tons of mushrooms (which I love, but husband doesn't). It was really good! Only complaint was that is was lukewarm. What a wonderful stop for some food and drinks. I brought my family here while traveling up to the Superior/Duluth area. The place was clean, the service was excellent, the food was fantastic, and the beer menu was amazing! We will be back for sure anytime we are in the area. The food was pretty average... burgers were good but the fries weren't. Our server wasn't very well versed on the tap list or much on the menu either. I'd love to rate Adventures higher, but if the food isn't great, then the rest doesn't matter, right? I ordered the Santa Fe Chicken salad last time I was there, less the pecans. Unfortunately, by eliminating the pecans, I was left with iceberg lettuce, a rubbery chicken breast, some diced tomatoes and some black beans - it was awful. I only ordered the salad because I remembered from the last time I was there that the Mushroom and Swiss burger wasn't good either, so I wasn't going to make that mistake again. Next time I'm there, I'm just going to go with "chef's choice" and be good with whatever comes out. Let me start by saying that we were pleased with the wait staff... friendly and checked back often! My husband ordered the meatballs dinner and he was overall happy with it. He said the meat office good but he served instant mashed potatoes which was a disappointment. I ordered chicken fried chicken dinner and was disappointed with the whole meal. For the price of the meal I would've expected something to be homemade! My chicken patty was extremely thin and definitely purchased frozen and just thrown in oil... overdone and hard to cut even with a knife! The potatoes were awful... salty and instant... yuck! The veggies were fine. Overall it was a lousy meal fir nearly 15.00. We depend on Yelp reviews as we travel constantly and this place had good reviews. read more

Stopped here for an Old Fashion and supper. I guess I'm use to really good old fashion because this one was not. Watered down and muddled to much. For my meal, I went with the fish fry as it was Friday. I was served 1 rubbery piece and 2 less than rubber, so chewy. The crispy smashed potatoes were good and broccoli was substituted for beans. I decided to take home an order of the homemade bread pudding (house specialty) for breakfast at work the next morning and it was dry and bland. The bill for this meal was 30 dollars! Worst food I ever received at a restaurant. Had a Valentine's day special of Sirloin Steak and Jumbo shrimp. Well the steak was actually a chunk of Sirloin Tip Roast and the shrimp was three medium size and looked and tasted like they were grilled yesterday and reheated. The potatoes were reds, mashed, dry, and cold. All this for $25 a plate. Very disappointed for having a special night with my husband to both of us leaving there hungry and wishing we went to Culver's instead. I have lived in RL for a few years now and today was my first visit to Adventure's. I ordered the special 'Santa fe shrimp salad'. It was barely meh...the greens were okay, but just green, no variety or artisan lettuce. It mentioned spicy pecans, black bean and corn pico/salsa. There were about 7 kernels of corn, 2 chopped spicy pecans, and about 6 smaller, unseasoned shrimp. Very unimpressed, glad I didn't spend my money on it.
