2nd floor of the 21 area gym has a beach view!

Love this gym! Probably one of the nicer ones on Camp Pendleton. Locker rooms/bathrooms are really clean and super nice. Equipment is all fairly new and all in great condition. Not stuffy like how some base gyms feel. Great music pumping over the sound system to get your workout on. Check this one out if you're in the area!

21 Area FC is actually pretty decent. I started going here 3/27/18 & let me be honest... I've always gone to a gym off base so coming here took a lot of courage from me & I was a little intimated to begin with. I couldn't tell you why, I just was. I like this gym better than Paige Fieldhouse because when I get here after work around 2pm: 1) it's not as overwhelming & packed as most would be 2) the cardio machines are separated by levels (cardio - up & most weight equipment - down) and 3) IT'S SMALLER! You walk in, flash then your military ID (active duty/dependent/DoD employee), click a box on the screen that pertains to you, then go on your merry way. I was completely confused at first on how it all works but it was quite simple. The locker/bath rooms are on your left in the back when you walk into the facility. I'll probably stick to coming here since i'm becoming more comfortable with this location. PS - One more thing, I'm obsessed the sauna & when I finally came to check this place out, it was down. I hope they get it running soon. I love a good sauna sweat sesh. (3/31/18)

I have been coming to this gym for the better part of 2 years and never realized that it wasn't on Yelp. So I fixed that issue and now I get to review it, sweet. Ok, so it's a gym, lots of free weights, cardio machines and other amenities like racquetball courts, spin classes, personal training and a full basketball court due to open back up with all new flooring early Sept 2012. The gym even provides patrons with small items like watches and phones small hotel style, set your own combo type lockers for temporary use right in the gym where you can keep an eye on it if you so choose. What makes it special? Well to me it's the Crossfit side. This gym is fully equipped with everything you need to get your WOD on! They also do weekly cross training type sessions in large groups outside with stations, great music and a trainer that walks you through all the proper techniques. All skill levels are welcome. When you are done with your WOD, sit in the sauna and relax for a few before hitting the showers! This one is one of the nicer gyms on base. Remember that this is a Marine Corps gym so if you don't like testosterone...come during off peak hours for a quiet and tranquil workout. During peak hours this place gets really packed so come with time if you plan a lunch work out.

Empty Of Motivators on a Friday. The best!

Love that it's empty Friday late afternoon :) Saturdays also empty but a bummer to close at 1800. Sundays it is open despite hours listed; also closes at 1800 and I love how empty it is a couple hours before closing.

    Remodeled Men's Locker Room

The bathroom and locker room remodel is finally complete. Lockers are metal so these will hopefully last longer than the old plasterboard lockers. Fans are situated throughout the locker room to decrease the humidity and there are even exhaust fans in the toilet/urinal area to decrease the odor of too many gaseous Marines taking protein supplements. The urinals and toilets are finally self flushing so this will hopefully decrease the time that they become blocked from too much buildup of concretions from not flushing the urinals. The men's dry sauna is now brand new and works great with more seating. Cons: 1) The racquetball courts are now being worked on so they are now closed. 2) Some of the weightlifting equipment is in need of replacement and there is no closed chain machine anymore to work your glutes. 3) The windows and screens still in need of repair.

I love this gym! I go in the evenings and it's normally pretty bare. It has a good array of machines and weights. Great for everyone.

I'm normally self-conscious in the gym so I appreciate that the cardio machines are upstairs away from the lifters.

I like how the schedule is set up online to preview which class will be offered that week/month. I took a Non-heated Gentle Flow class with Kelley. It was for yogis of all levels. She utilized yoga blocks and showed different various of the pose/movement depending on which level you are feeling. I liked that she showed the poses and also verbalized the movements aloud. I never felt left behind in the class. The gentle flow was relaxing and challenging. It focuses on balance (so important for all ages!) and movement for strength and flexibility. I found it to be an amazing class for sports recovery and strength training. I lift weights and often feel like my muscles are tight. This class helped with giving me relaxation as well as energy boost for the day. I recommend coming to OSide Power Yoga and trying out a class of your choosing. The first class was free.
