This time, I knew it would be covered by our extended warranty so I brought it in with me, told them we had this warranty and left it with them. They kept the car an extra day to diagnose it. The next morning, they contacted the warranty company. The company was not prompt in getting back to them (not MSN's fault). The problem came once the warranty company approved the repair, they fixed it, and called to tell me it was ready. Their charges were higher than the warranty would cover. I told them I would pay the difference. But when I went to pay, they told me they wouldn't release the car without payment in full! What? They tried to hold the car hostage until the warranty company sent them a check. Who knows how long that would take, but they knew this before they ever diagnosed the car. They said NOTHING about this until we were ready to leave with the car. And then, Mike Newbold didn't have an explanation as to why they didn't tell us this in the first place. He just said "I've been burned by warranty companies in the past". I asked why he didn't mention that they wouldn't accept payment from the warranty company when we first came in (and I handed it to him). Complete silence. WHAT KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THIS! His wife chimed in that warranties aren't really good and people shouldn't buy them. We are never going back. If you have an extended warranty of any kind, you should not either. I had to pay the entire amount out of pocket and now I'm working with the warranty company to be reimbursed. This is not how they are supposed to work. Angry, you bet. Frustrated? More than you can imagine. All Mike had to do was tell us that they wouldn't accept the warranty! We would have gone elsewhere and saved this hassle

Because it was dirty when I first bought it (they hosed it off but that's it), when I got it home to hand clean it I found several scratches and minor dents they hadn't told me about. Some of them were covered with nail-polish-like paint that came off when I washed it. The back tail light had obviously been super glued back on, and some glue had dripped onto the body paint. The inside of the car was a new issue, with some small stains on the roof in the back I hadn't been told about either. All cosmetic things but still would've been nice to know about.

However, for what they lack esthetically they make up for in quality, cost, and integrity. I have used this shop as my dedicated mechanic since 2019. During that time I have bought, fixed up, kept or sold 7 vehicles. I have always received thorough diagnosis of car issues, equitable pricing, and reliable work. My friend who originally referred me to this shop, one time went for an oil change and came home feeling like it may not have been topped off enough. Hold up - there is a reason why I'm telling you this story... when my friend called 168 about it they took his concern EXTREMELY seriously! They didn't just say bring it back in or worse disregard him. They immediately sent a flat bed to tow it to the show and reassured my friend that they have insurance if the vehicle has been damaged they will replace the whole thing, etc. I tell this story because let's face it no one is perfect all the time but in the face of a potentially catastrophic error 168 really showed up and did the right thing without any hassle. My friends car ended up being fine thankfully. Ended up he drove over some rope after leaving that got tangled in his under carriage. I refuse to take my cars anywhere else. One last note - unfortunately they are not diesel certified so if you have a Diesel engine sorry but they won't be able to do specific engine or emission work.

I looked around on the internet and decided on Mike's because of the reviews and location. I called to see when I could bring my vehicle over. The office was super nice and let me know I could bring it in the next week. They sounded super busy so I was wondering if they were busy because they were in-demand or if they perhaps got behind in their labor. I had my vehicle towed in on Monday, they made sure they understood what I was experiencing and got to work diagnosing my vehicle. The shop called back the same day with a great price on the labor and repair. They asked how soon I'd need my vehicle which really spoke well to me about how they managed their business and priorities. I did need my vehicle soon and they said they'd let the technician know. I got a call early the next day and my vehicle was ready! I went and picked my vehicle up and was extremely happy with the work and service. The office staff was helpful and thorough every time I spoke with them and I feel really good about the work they did. I will be bringing my vehicles to Mike's from now on for all of my service needs. I'm not someone who normally writes reviews but I really wanted to express my happiness with my transaction because good, decently priced auto repair is hard to find.
