So I have a long track record of making wine and spirits purchases in the state owned wine and spirits shops. Compared to the wine and spirits shops of New York, the Pennsylvania stores are fantastic. Not only do they not engage in price gouging, but because the state has some bulk purchasing power, occasionally one can find incredible deals. However, because the stores are centrally run, often there is no passion behind the wine selection. And far too often, the bulk of items on the shelves are from large industrial producers. This Duncansville shop is fine, especially for a smaller store. I was able to find a good deal on a favorite value-brand of sparkling wine for New Year's Eve, and get in and out without much hassle. I hear this location will soon be getting a facelift, which is good. It's looking a little worn.
