    Mismatched Dumbbells
    Aarin T.

"Barely Passable for the Basics" I really wanted to like this gym, but it's the little things that keep adding up. For starters, they don't even have the pins for machines that require them. So unless you bring your own (which... seriously?), you're stuck. That's just basic maintenance. Also noticed several mismatched dumbbells -- same weight listed, but different sizes and makes. You can feel the imbalance, especially when you're doing anything that requires symmetry or stability. It's sloppy and kind of annoying when you're trying to take your workout seriously. The place isn't terrible -- it's open 24 hours, which is great, and there's a decent amount of space and equipment. But the lack of attention to basic upkeep makes it feel like they're just phoning it in. Not expecting luxury here, just functionality. Wouldn't be my first choice if there were better options nearby.

This gigantic fan of whirly spinning death doesn't look structurally sound to me.

Water machine broke today. Bad on a hot summer day and doesn't seem like urgency or any calls to have them fixed.

It's actually quite sad how bad this gym is. Been coming here for a long time and will continue to do so because it's 5 minutes from my house. Things could be so much better with some upkeep. There's no shortage of staff as I usually see 3 to 4 people at the front desk at any given time. It's the little things, replacing equipment like the rope attachments that are all torn and ripped apart. Refilling the paper towel dispensers and spray bottles. Having spray bottles with the actual spray attachment. The sanitizing dispensers are broken and empty. I can't tell you how often the paper towels or spray bottles bottles are completely empty. Maybe 70% of the time? It's not even an exaggeration. Ironically, the night I decide to write this review they actually have paper towels and spray! I went to the bathroom and there was no toilet paper, no seat covers and the bathrooms were just disgusting. Looked like a bathroom you'd find at a campground. Not sure if there's a suggestion box or what, but management has gotta do something! It really doesn't seem like too much of an ask or too tall of a task especially when the gym closes at 11pm. We don't even have 24 hour access which is in the name! Lol. Wild...

Screw driver because the weight stack pins are missing
    Tiff A.

Went back today since writing this original post, I believe 26 days ago...still not any better with the missing pins. I love the creativity of others with screw drivers. I think I also saw a long construction screw and a sharpie! I ended up buying my own weight stack pin from Amazon. Shoot they should give me a discount off my membership for every check-in with my own pin, towel or other equipment that the dues are supposed to provide. Although I have to say to those people who rip off the pins attached to the machine with a bungie...why?!?!

    Really?

It used to be my favorite gym but it's getting worse, a lot of dumbbells are missing from the rack and the women's bathroom is dirty.

Big clean gym only the locker room/proximity to the pool a bit odd and since I mainly swim it's a small issue! Otherwise great gym!

Wow! I should have read the reviews first about this place, but the reviews make sense. If I could…read moregive a zero I would. I joined City Sports Club on Brokaw because I was genuinely excited to get back into shape. Unfortunately, what should have been a positive experience quickly became frustrating, discouraging, and emotionally exhausting, thanks to Sam, Richard and Mari. From the beginning, nearly every interaction felt like a sales pitch. I signed up for a gym membership, the Pilates add-on, and personal training because I wanted professional guidance and support. During my training consultation, Richard, the Director of Training, promised nutritional guidance, including calories and macros, a workout plan for the days I was not meeting with a trainer, measurements, and an assessment. When I arrived for my first training appointment, Richard appeared unaware of why I was there. My trainer then asked me many of the same questions I had already discussed with him, which made it seem like there had been little communication. The workout lasted approximately 25 minutes, which had not been explained when I signed up. When I asked about the nutrition and workout plans I had been promised, I was told that the trainer did not know me or my form well enough to provide them and that I should do any exercises I already knew. This was incredibly discouraging because I had specifically signed up for personal training because I needed guidance. I left feeling deflated and devalued as a member. When I raised my concerns, I received conflicting explanations, little accountability, and repeated promises that someone would follow up. I had to explain the same emotional experience to multiple employees (a total of 5 times), yet calls were repeatedly not returned. The most disappointing response came when I was told that they "usually do not issue refunds because of an experience." This was not simply a change of mind. I joined with every intention of using the gym, but the services and guidance used to sell me personal training were not provided as represented. After the poor communication, unfulfilled promises, and dismissive handling of my concerns, I no longer felt comfortable returning. The only person who made me feel genuinely heard was Rod. He listened, apologized, and showed empathy when no one else had. I truly appreciated his kindness. I joined because I was motivated and excited to prioritize my health. Instead, I spent my first two weeks dealing with sales pitches, contradictory information, poor communication, unfulfilled promises, and repeatedly chasing people for answers. I am still waiting for a resolution and the full refund I requested. I am posting this in hopes of a resolution, as it seems every attempt I have already made comes with repeated excuses and promises of follow-ups that never occur. I am the one who has to do the follow-up. I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking City Sports Club to acknowledge how poorly this situation was handled, honor the full refund I requested, and allow me to move forward without continuing to chase employees for answers.

And here's yet another five-star review for WESTCA…read more Like a lot of people, I spend far too much time sitting behind a computer. After a few meager attempts to get into an exercise routine, it became clear I would need to pay someone to kick my proverbial butt on a regular basis. I was excited to find a gym with such consistently great reviews nearby, and WESTCA absolutely lives up to the hype. I have a decent amount of experience with lifting and resistance training, but I also have some physical limitations, so the semi-private training format has been perfect for me. It provides the structure and accountability I was looking for while still meeting me where I am in terms of experience, fitness level, and physical capability. I've been training with Ivan, who consistently brings good vibes. His instructions are clear, he's quick to adapt exercises around physical limitations when needed, and he progresses training safely and thoughtfully with encouragement along the way. Progress has been steady, and I love feeling stronger and more energetic. As many other reviewers have mentioned, WESTCA is a smaller gym with a welcoming, low-pressure atmosphere. It's the kind of place that makes it easy to stay consistent. If you're looking for a gym, WESTCA is an easy recommendation.

I originally planned to train with Adam for just 3 months, but the amount of progress and muscle growth I saw in that short time was insane, so I decided to keep going. What makes Adam such a great trainer is how flexible and dedicated he is. I travel a lot and work a demanding software engineering job, but he's always willing to adjust schedules and make things work. You can tell he genuinely cares about his clients and loves what he does. Even on days we don't train, he still checks in, gives me pointers, and helps me stay on track. He also does a great job tailoring workouts to your specific needs and constantly adds different exercise variations to keep things effective, challenging, and fun. Every workout feels personalized instead of repetitive. The gym itself is amazing too -- it has every piece of equipment you could possibly need, plus all the little extras that make training better. Everything is always incredibly clean and spotless, which makes the environment even more motivating to be in. On top of all that, Adam keeps workouts fun and motivating. We always have great conversations, and over time he's become more than just a trainer, he's become a friend too. Highly recommend him to anyone looking to level up their fitness.
