I'd like to give a huge shout out to Nicole and Minh, swimming instructors and management team, for doing such a great job teaching our son and my niece on how to swim. They are patient with children and have excellent skills in displaying examples on how to float, blow bubbles, using arms and legs, etc. they are both true professionals! Our children are super comfortable with both employees which is vital because without this trust, it would be harder to learn and communicate anything. We can tell our kids are going to learn quick with the way both Nicole and Minh are coaching; just the right tone in gaining new skills each day. It's not overwhelming for our kids whatsoever. We're so happy we chose this facility and team to guide our kids in learning how to swim. I highly recommend families coming here to enroll their young ones for a nice swimming session/plan. The Milpitas Sport Center is a perfectly decent venue for things like 4th of July fireworks, but it's not amazing. The venue doesn't have a lot of comfortable space for large groups, and has no parking to speak of. read more

This is a great place to be! They have swim lessons all day long. Indoor basketball courts with lessons. Gym and summer camp. This place is nice! Friendly staff (mostly staffed with teenagers during the summer) I can't speak to the men's locker room, but they have a very nice women's locker room. It's spacious and most importantly, very clean! It's equipped with mounted hairdryers on the wall. Many shower stalls inside. They even have spinners to dry off your swimsuit! I felt like I walked into a YMCA locker room! The City of Milpitas operates the Milpitas Sports Center 6 days a week. There's a wide variety of fitness classes offered ( yoga, Hula, feldenkrais, weight conditioning, Ujam, Zumba, Piyo, Pilates, aquatic classes, etc). Drop in sports include Pickleball, basketball and lap swim . The compact exercise/ fitness room has machines including treadmills, ellipticals, workout benches, free weights, body bars, and mats. There are 2 large pools ( lap and classes) . There are separate women's and men's locker rooms with showers, bathrooms and hair dryers. The best economic way to frequent this gym is to buy a fitness pass, which greatly reduces your price of entry. Once you enter you can stay as long as you want and take unlimited classes in a day. Arrangements can also be made to work with a personal Trainer. The staff here are mostly friendly and helpful. read more

I've been going to the Spots Center mainly for the classes. The work out area is small but has a good mix of cardio machines and weights. The facility is well-maintained, clean, and the staff are always very friendly. I love going to the classes taught by Tatsiana (Body Architect, Yogalates/Pilates, etc). Check the schedule for the most accurate classes. Her classes always give you a great work out but be forewarned, she is tough! In addition, I love the yoga classes taught by Asha on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. Her classes are not as slow as the others and stretches you in places you don't regularly stretch. (Due to popularity on Saturday mornings, don't forget to pick up a wrist band when you check in). Since I work during the day, I'm sad that I miss the awesome classes during lunchtime but try to attend when I have a day off. I've also taken Zumba and U-Jam a couple of times and the instructors definitely make working out fun. If you don't think you can get a work out from these classes, you are wrong. The Sports Center also offers drop in sports such as basketball, badminton, and volleyball during the week. Check the schedule online for more information. This review it for the milpitas Knights PAL football. Been coming here for 2 years for For my sons football and it's been nothing but good things. For the last two football seasons my son has been on the Milpitas knights Mighty mites and he really likes it. All the staff from the Coaches all the way to the President of the league are very friendly and great with the kids, They all ave kids on the teams and treat all the kids very good. Any questions I've ever had have always been answered. All practices are here on the astroturf field, 3 times a week. Games are usually on Saturdays some here at home and some away. I would recommend this to anyone in the milpitas area that want to get your kids into football. My son will be returning here for his 3rd year in 2018. read more

I'm a fan of the Milpitas sports center! Whenever I'm home, I try to catch a class or two here. I especially have liked hatha yoga with Asha and body architect with Tatsiana. There are ample machines and equipment in the gym as well if that's more your speed. I've never tried the open gym or the pool, so no opinion there. Parking is easy unless it's on the weekend, but even then you just have to park farther away. Prices are super reasonable, too! The staff at the front desk are typical teenagers but I can't hold that against them. Definitely worth making use of! read more

I am really disappointed by the quality of instruction for young children. This is my second summer coming to parent-and-me toddler swim class with my son. Last summer, my son was warming up to the water, and even attempted to put his face in the water voluntarily. The instructor last summer was hell bent on getting all the babies and toddlers to put their faces in the water. While this may be a worthy goal, certainly a prerequisite to swimming underwater, not all kids learn at the same speed, or in the same way, my son was dunked by the instructor and got very scared. It took us several weeks of swimming in friends pools to get him comfortable in the water, as he refused to enter the water at all, after being let down by the instructor. Fast forward to this summer. We again, signed up for the class, and I made the decision that I would be more vigilant about how he was treated. Today, I came for our class, and in the same area as parent and me class, there was an instructor with 4 little ones. I believe it was the tiny tots group. 1 adult to 4 preschool aged non swimmers. 2 of the kids were crying. Their parents were not in the pool, but as the instructor took them away from the safety of the step into water that was too deep for the kids to stand in, one started screaming. The instructor kept shushing her, and telling her to stop crying, but not returning her to the step. This is NOT how children learn. That child was terrified. My son became agitated at the sight of this, and told me he no longer wants to go swimming here. I am really concerned about the training that the coaches receive, and practices that the coaches use, especially with young children. Last summer I chalked it up to just being unlucky, now it seems that this is just common practice here, to ignore a child's attempt to communicate and force them into situations that they can't escape from. read more

Most crowded, 50 lines per tiny court, volleyball open gym in the world, do not go here. After 2 hours, at 7pm, I had played for 6 and a half minutes? Got here at 5 and they had stand still in a random non-moving line until 5:45... then we start signing in and paying 45 minutes later for no reason whatsoever... and this place is almost double my usual cost to waste an hour of my time and I have to wait multiple games to get a chance to play? Complete waste of time and money, never again. Pay 8$ to play 30 minutes at most with beginners that said they were intermediate, hell no. read more

This review is for the swimming pool and "the manager" only. I have been using the swimming pool for my kids throughout the summer. I have seen parent, after parent angry and/or disappointed about the "rules". None of those families came back to use the pool again. I can understand rules in place for safety, but they are NOT CONSISTENT OR CLEAR WITH THE RULES. My kids have been using the spiral pool noodles weekly for the entire summer, but apparently "the manager" said it should have never been allowed. I went to the Dive-in Movie night on 10/19/18, where the flyer stated that "inner tubes and swimming noodles allowed", but I did not see any inner tube or pool noodle allowed in the pool. I saw a lot of disappointed parents again. The manager and the staff has NEVER attempted to explain to any parent WHY the products are not allowed. Please just tell us EXACTLY what products you allow or just say no products are allowed. I wasted a good amount of money to buy nearly every swim product on the market, but nothing has pleased "the manager" of Milpitas Sports Center. read more

I signed up my son for a sports day camp, but I wanted to inform them that he had food allergies. They didn't have a form that included warnings or emergency for food allergies. That didn't make me feel too comfortable leaving him at camp. Liability is an issue. I Filled out the registration via website link and no section related to allergies or special accommodations. I approached front desk the day of camp and was told there was no form available. I was instructed to personally tell the coach who wrote it down on her list. Yearly member for over 10 years, love it! I only use the weight room and adult locker room. Always clean and equipment is in excellent condition. It's terrific to have an adult locker room, there is a separate youth locker room. The only negative is that they are closed on all state and federal holidays, and closed for NINE days during Christmas 2019. :-( read more

Great place for a workout! I've been recently taking Yoga here with my friend and her mom and I love how clean this facility is. This sports center has been here for quite awhile but it's very well maintained and they offer a variety of classes. The staff is helpful and quite friendly. This place is great if you don't want any long term commitment. (For those who are really busy) We pretty much only pay for however many session we want to attend. It's about $15 for 5 sessions and you can add more as you go along. There aren't any extra fees for residents, make sure you bring two proofs of residency when you sign up! read more

I know I can't be the only Yelper that wakes up every morning and thinks to herself, "Should I give up the life of a foodie so I can fit into my clothes again??" Give me a shoutout if this happens to you too... Milpitas Sports Center is a great facility for a quick weekday gym session. You can purchase a drop-in day pass for $5/day, or commit to a package deal $3/day for a minimum of 5 days. The facility offers various group exercises classes (Zumba, Yoga, kickboxing, etc), water classes, and open gym for basketball and volleyball. The weight room is pretty basic, nothing too fancy - treadmills, ellipticals, bicycles, stepmaster, free weights, and machines. You can sign up for personal training sessions at the front desk for an additional charge. Or you can be like me, stand near them and secretly copy their exercises. The only downside is that the center closes early on Fridays and Saturdays at 2pm and closed on Sundays all day. But hey, for $3/day, you can't beat that price! I came to Milpitas Sport Center for their Vinyasa Yoga class they offer on Mondays with Tatsiana. I really enjoyed the class, it was challenging and a good workout for beginners, intermediate, or Advanced. Tatsiana made sure she was catering all three of the types of yoga levels. The Milpitas sports center facility is very clean and well kept! The customer service is awesome, the front desk staff always know how to help or guide you in the right direction. We signed our twins up for soccer in the MPAL league and I was a regular at the Milpitas Sports Center during 2010 soccer season. In the beginning it was a little confusing looking for the field our kids would be playing on but after awhile we got use to it. They have lit fields when it gets dark. Staff is friendly. I was a part of the Milpitas Tidal Waves (located at the Milpitas Sportscenter) for about 5 years. When I moved to Milpitas, my dad knew I loved swimming and saw they had an all year around swimming club for kids from 8-18 years old. I loved swimming and he enrolled me within a few weeks. It was $50 a month when I joined up until I quit my senior year of high school. I met some of my best friends here. The coaches here really care about you and push you, while maintaining a good time. We had monthly meets that were at different facilities. We worked hard and played hard. We were like a family. I think for anyone who wants to get their kids involved in a sport, club swimming is great. It's usually between 4-6, all year around except for September. It's a great way for kids to make friends, learn how to push themselves, and work with others. Some of my best memories were from being on this swim team. It was a great break from school and definitely worth the money. read more

If you're a Milpitas resident, and you hate getting sucked in by scary, pushy salesmen at the huge chain gyms, then come to the Sports Center instead and take advantage of what the City of Milpitas has to offer. It's true, there's not a LOT of stuff in terms of machines, equipment, and whatnot, but there ARE two lap pools (meter and yard, heated and open year-round) and a bunch of fitness classes offered pretty much all day. There is also an open gym where you can play basketball, volleyball, or table tennis. Personal training services are offered, and the facilities are simple, clean, and non-fussy. Also, depending on how often you go, it could cost you less. You can buy a pack of visits for $3.00 per visit (I think the smallest pack is 5 visits), or you can drop in for $5.00. And I KNOW we all like to tell ourselves, "Oh, I'll be really good and go every day," that just doesn't happen (usually). So be honest with yourself and save yourself the money, the heartache of having to cancel automatic billing, and the headache of pushy gym salesmen trying to lure you back by just going to your local sports center. Support your community! (Can you tell, I've had bad experiences with those "big gyms"? I just wanted someplace simple where I can run and swim as I please.) PS - Even if you're not a Milpitas resident, you can still work out here as well - it's an extra $25 per year for non-residents. Not too bad, I think. read more

I went here with a co-worker the other day to try out their Cardio Yoga class. To my amazement, the place was impeccably clean! I thought it was recently renovated, but my buddy told me it's been here for about 8 years already. The receptionist was very nice and it cost me only $5 to use their facilities (including the yoga class). The room was pretty big, I'd say it could hold around 40 ppl. The class itself was pretty good. I wouldn't say it's the best I've ever had, but for the price it was worth it. We did a lot of the same poses, pushups, and some balancing ones. If you're a beginner, I think it'd be better to go to a place where it's more personal, so the instructor can show you the correct way of doing the exercises. Will I come back? The water excercise class with Janet is wonderful if you are going through the pregnancy growing pains. She is fun, and they offer a mom-to-be class on Thursday afternoons. I did the regular water excercise class with some modifications. It breaks the monotony and eases some of the pressure! Great way to cool off too! Janet also offered helpful insights regarding how the excercises help for labor and delivery. Came here for the "first time" today, and had a very pleasant experience. I didn't know I had to bring two forms of ID in order to register myself as a newcomer. Rushed back to my motorcycle, luckily I had my registration in there. Funny thing was, I already held an account, probably from over 10 years ago. In short, I had a very pleasant experience. The ladies at the front desk were very nice and helpful, and were very cheerful. The center seemed clean. $3 a drop in for residents? Not bad at all. Will definitely be returning (well, I did buy a 5 pass membership), and hopefully get to play more volleyball next time! read more

Ran into this place because of work. My company was set to replace their gym equipment,(floors, bleachers, basketball hoops etc..) So my coworker and I decided to find a place to play basketball during lunch and this place is pretty close to work. Well the new equipment wont be placed until march/april but currently their basketball courts arent bad. the group of guys that come out at lunch are nice guys, the facilty is pretty clean and once in a while you run into a cute girl here and there. This place is definitely not your typical sports club where meat head walk around. The pools are usually filled with older asians who use it for fitness and the treadmills are used by a variety of individuals. Overall I like the atmosphere and it seems like a place I will be visiting more since its close to work. read more

I go here for two reasons and two reasons only! 1)classes taught by Tatsiana and 2) yoga with Asha. Both of them are great, especially when you have them back to back! I consider myself to be fairly fit but Tatsiana always kicks my butt after every class with her. You'll be so happy and proud of yourself every time you go to and finish/survive her class. Then after that you go to Asha's yoga class and go through the same thing but with yoga. These teachers are the real deal and motivate me through their workouts and passion for fitness. I'm normally a lone wolf when it comes to working out but I go head first into their classes any day! Unfortunately for me, work hasn't given me the time to make it to their classes on time but for those out there looking to be challenged or to just have a good tough but rewarding time, then look no further than Tatsiana's and Asha's fitness classes at the sport center. read more

It has basketball/volleyball/badminton court, pools, classes, and small gym. I came here mainly for badminton and swimming. Sometimes, I end up in gym if there are too many people. The pool is very nice, heated during winter and outdoor. However, a lot of times it's packed (3 people per lane), and the chlorine is quite strong. The badminton court is nice but sometimes it's packed as well since it's once per week. I paid $3 for Milipitas resident per entry and I believe $5 for non resident. read more

Very nice pool and non-threatening environment. $5 and a signature gets you in for the day. I only did lap swimming in the evening but I could have used the rest of equipment as well. There are 2 pools, one shallow for aerobics and 1 for lap swimming. Its a very nice pool, lots of pulleys and kick boards available as well as a large clock for workouts but in the evening very very crowded lap swimming. There are only 6 large lanes and I have done 4 to a lane there! They try to divide it by speeds but it is still awkward. It has a good locker room, individual showers and mirrors and hairdryers and all the fun stuff, even a suit spinner! Unfortunately due to the crowd issue I can't give it too many stars but it is a nice pool. Try to go earlier rather then later and maybe it will be less crowded. Hopefully cooler weather will drive some people away as well. read more

Really enjoy this place. Try to come once a week for open gym basketball on friday nights. There is 1 regulation full court, and 3 slightly smaller sized full courts. On fridays there are always at least 2 full court games going on at all times, sometimes even a 3rd. Skill level varies. There is usually one court with very skilled players and the other 2 with slightly lesser skilled players. The only reason I am docking this one star is that I cant shower anymore after playing! They recently started locking the locker rooms up on friday nights. read more

I've been going here for a little over a month now; about 1-3 times a week. It's a great supplement to my craptastic 24hr Fitness contract (thanks, Costco!). I am currently located within spitting distance of Milpitas. I heard about this place through some locals and decided to give it a shot for a month. So far so good! I did a yoga class because I really wanted to get back into it. It kicked my butt for a beginners class, but hey - it's been more than 10 years. I use the facilities daily and have found the customers and the front desk to be really friendly! I do have to be a bit careful of when I go to workout because there are some older women who love to use the fitness machines while wearing tons of perfume. I'm allergic to some smells and the moment some of the women come into range, my lungs tighten up and I can't breathe. :( Too bad they don't have a policy about that. I can't be the only person who is allergic to certain perfumes and smells. The pool looks gorgeous and one day, I'll be swimming or taking a water aerobics class. It was cheap for me to join for the month, despite not being a resident of Milpitas - $80. Not bad for unlimited access to everything! read more

This is a marginal, at best, place to work out: First, the parking lot is small and cannot accommodate all the activities they book using the outdoor fields (soccer, football, baseball, swim lessons) and inside drop in basketball, volleyball. I spend most of my time driving around looking for a place to park. Second, they have a very marginal selection of inside aerobics and other types of classes in the evenings. Third their hours are nothing like a real sports center. I found out today that they will be close from December 24 through January 1. A time when a lot of people may want to come and work out. I've been coming for the sport center for a few months now, and I am officially a fan. This facility is always clean and the staff there has been very helpful. I don't come here for the gym, although from what I've seen it's never too crowded and has a good variety of equipment; I come here for the classes. I've tried three classes: beginning yoga, hatha yoga, and sculpt interval, and I love them all! The instructors are very helpful and the classes are well run; after taking these classes I've toned up in ways that going to the gym has failed to do. Don't worry if you don't have a yoga mat or other equipment you may need to use, they have some in a separate room for everyone to use. Just a warning, though, these classes get crowded! In addition to their exercise room and classes, they also a few pools as well as courts for basketball, badminton, and volleyball; refer to their fliers for their exact times. If you're a resident, it's $3 every time you go in (and seniors get half off), just make sure you have proofs of residency. They make your card on the spot so be ready to have a not so flattering picture taken of you. Side note: if you arrive late to a class please don't squeeze yourself between people because that just hinders you and your neighbors from getting the full workout; move to the front of the room, we promise we won't judge! read more

Tell me where you can find $3 yoga classes in a spacious, mirrored room with hardwood floors and high ceilings? For that matter, where else can you find ANY yoga for $3? As I drove to Milpitas, I thought, this is too good to be true. It's gonna be a horrible teacher in a stinky little room that's loud. I was wrong! The beginning yoga was not really a beginners class, but it gave us an excellent workout. The classes are $3 if you buy a 5 class package for $15, and drop in is $5. The class wasn't too crowded which was awesome for me. I hope it stays not crowded....but then I probably shouldn't be writing this review. The facility is surprising clean and new and they even have three indoor full basketball courts and a small workout room. They also offer many other yoga classes and workout class throughout the entire week! read more
