I left with smoother and more hydrated skin as well as some samples that my face is reacting to very nicely. That said, I didn't come in with any major concerns so this provided the nice simple boost and through cleansing, exfoliating, and hydration I was looking for. Am not sure if the results would be any more dramatic than that. I usually like it when they explain the steps and the products being used. My facialist didn't start doing this until the end when I started asking her questions. But I know this is a personal preference and I could have started inquiring about the process earlier. Their line and array of products for sale is impressive and comprehensive. I needed an exfoliator so my facialist sold me one. At first she tried to sell me the full-size but I asked to buy the smaller one as I wanted to trial it first. If I hadn't taken the time to browse through the products, I wouldn't have known to ask for the smaller size first. I usually go to Skoah -which like most spas, features head, neck, and shoulder massage as well as ambience and very cozy beds- but am considering coming back here instead. OptaDerm offers a very competitive price for what seems to basically be the same service.

What actually happened: -Used it successfully only three times. -Next three visits (during posted hours) the salon was randomly closed. The first 2 times had no notice. The third time, just a sticky note saying "understaffed, appointments only and to call the Sechelt location. -I called asking what was going on and if I could get a refund or extension since I tried numerous times to use my package. It's only for a month so I only have so much time to use it and when the hours on google are posted as OPEN, I should be able to access the beds. Owner Lauralye replied by email, said I was being aggressive on the phone and banned me. Completely false information. I never even raised my voice so this one threw me for a loop. When I kept asking for my money back, she permanently banned me in the same email thread. They offered a partial refund which was never received. I left a 100% factual 1-star Google review with receipts attached they got it removed/hidden. Now they are leaving themselves fake google review. Laughable. When I kept pushing, they threatened me with legal action and accused me of being "aggressive" (I have every email -- I was nothing but polite the entire time). Zero refund, zero apology. So yeah - they have no problem stealing people's hard-earned money, then threatening to sue you if you dare speak up. I cannot believe I have to go through this for ninety-three freaking dollars that they simply decided to keep. I have my receipt, and the entire email chain (including the ban, the legal threats, the fake "aggressive" accusation, and the deleted review). Happy to privately show everything to anyone who messages me. Please think twice before you hand this place any prepaid money - tanning packages, gift cards, whatever. I've now had to file with Civil Resolution Tribunal (CRT) and my credit card company for a chargeback. Just posting this so nobody else in Gibsons loses almost $100 and then gets threatened for daring to complain. Sad that it has come to this but I have exhausted every option and tried my best to deal with this privately. Unfortunately I have been pushed too far. It's almost Christmas and these days, every dollar makes a difference. This is my hard earned money after all. Support local... but not when the local business keeps your money, deletes your review, and threatens to sue you for telling the truth.

I had to wait a few minutes out front. I was not offered any refreshments. The technician was friendly, but the service I selected did not include all the parts of a manicure, when I asked about it I was informed that the service I chose did not include it, I wasn't offered an upgrade. During filing, I had to point out several areas where the nail had not been completely smoothed out. When I left the salon I noticed that the polish was a bit streaky and thin in some areas. Overall, it was not the pampering spa experience I had looked forward to. It was expensive and I don't think the service matched the price. This is something I had splurged on. The room was painted dark or black and had signs of wear and tear everywhere. The lighting was too bright, and the bed was covered in obviously well-used and worn towels. Music was irritating not relaxing. Next time I will go somewhere else, or wait until I'm in the city where service is better.

I had to cancel because of illness, and informed the spa at 6am via email (almost 12 hours before my appointment). When I called later in the morning to confirm they'd gotten my email, the staff and owner were incredibly rude to me stating that I'd still be charged and that it was my fault for not cancelling with 24 hours of notice. When I said the alternative was me coming to my appointment very ill, potentially putting staff and other clients at risk, the owner simply said yes that's fine, that I should go ahead and do that. Terrible experience overall, especially since I was actually looking forward to this treatment.

Not a big deal, but if you are expecting complete privacy/quiet, you should not expect it. For myself, it didn't matter, and I still found myself feeling deeply relaxed. I thought the service was pretty good. They spend probably 15 minutes going over your treatment plan and explaining their process and products. Yes, you still get a full hour of treatment time. I found the angle of the reclining chair a bit uncomfortable on my neck at first, but the head scrub was soooooo relaxing, it didn't matter much lol. They were running their Boxing Day sale, so the treatment came to $225 including taxes, but regular price would have been $300 incl taxes. While my scalp felt fantastic and my hair felt squeaky clean, I am not sure that it is worth $225- $300 plus tip, unless you had money to burn. But if you do have money to burn, or want to give yourself or someone an extravagant treat, then go for it. I think that if I did this treatment regularly, my hair might improve from the increased circulation, but I am not entirely convinced that it is their specific products and techniques vs someone rubbing your head with any kind of lotions/serums/oils and washing it lovingly for an hour, lol. One final note: absolutely DO NOT book this before going out for an event, as you leave with hair that has zero product in it, and will be blown dry as if your dad did it for you. As in, efficiently, but with zero attention to styling. So book this when you are planning on going home and flopping on the couch, lol.
