Just a great local place to eat. Smothered chicken fried steak was as to be expected.....Decadent! I know that is a description people give to desserts but it was very good, tasty, large, etc. Jalapeños were a little hot but tasted great with the gravy and steak. Wife's chicken taco salad was equally good. Cold,cold mugs for the beer. They were very busy but food came out quick. Next time through Dumas we will keep it on the radar. read more

Across from the hotel we were staying in. One of the few places that stay open until 10am. Staff was friendly. Food was ok. The roles are big and delicious. Father's chicken fried steak was huge. Unreal portion, enough for three people. Husband got chicken parmesan. I got steak bites with onions and mushrooms. All said food was ok. My drink vodka with cranberry was super sweet. Grey Goose was only $5, that is amazing price. A wide variety of a menu. We come through here at least four times a year and will probably stop again maybe order a few different things. We visited this restaurant on our way through. The food was very good. Came out quickly! I had the cheesesteak flatbread and sweet potato fries- excellent! We stopped here on our way back to Denver from Dallas and loved the food! We got takeout (because of Covid safety as well as time) and the woman who took our order over the phone couldn't hear me very well but was very patient, professional, and thorough with me. We ordered a lunch pizza, quesadillas, cheeseburger, Caesar salad, chicken bites, and peach cobbler. The side of Mac-and-cheese was our favorite (yum!) but all were fresh, delicious, good portion and quality, and liked by all of my family members (picky boys included!). Care was taken in the packaging and multiple sides and sauces, utensils, napkins, etc.. We would definitely plan on stopping through again if passing by! Stopped here on our way from Dallas to Oregon. Ordered the Chicken Fried Teak with mashed potatoes and fried okra. Smothered in country gravy. Great meal. Too much for me to finish. The service we received tonight was the best! Sierra, our waitress, was amazing. She very carefully explained if we ordered a burger rare it would really be rare. Being from California where you cannot get a rare burger we were delighted. What an exceptional meal! The burger was indeed rare, very pink throughout and juicy. It was heaven! This restaurant has the only outdoor seating in Dumas. So if like us, you're older and still concerned about Covid this is the place to go. It's not a four-star restaurant but it is four-star in what it does. Emily was our very pleasant waitress and brought us delicious chicken fried chicken as well as mixed vegetables and a loaded baked potato. Went here on a tip from a gas station clerk and she was right on when she said they have great steaks. My six ounce Road House fillet was thick and jucy. Cooked to perfection. Well seasoned. Had the scalloped potatoes which complemented the steak nicely. Two part to the place. The sport bar and the family style side. The service was good. The sports bar side seemed to be having a good time. Would recommend it for good home style cooking. read more

I took my wife to this steakhouse for her birthday. This was the worst steak and shrimp we have ever had. I ordered a medium well and it as bleeding. The cocktail sauce was jellied. The food was okay. I had the grilled chicken bites, with fiesta rice and green beans. Out of everything on the plate the green beans was the best. The veggies in the chicken bite where charred, the chicken was tough to bite into, and the rice was just plain rice nothing "fiesta" about it. Which is super unfortunate cuz rice is sooo easy to make but also easy to F**k up. My appetizer (potato skins) came out after my meal and not sure if that's the kitchens fault or my waitresses fault they were great tho!. Either way service was bad. I seen my waitress maybe 4 times and never got asked for another drink until I was completely done eating and ready to go. Almost Immediately I was accused of being "a yankee" and the waitress I had was not interested in providing normal waitress duties. We were staying right next store and we're told it was good. It opens at 5:00 but there was no one there but us. It's a little shabby but ignore that! Absolutely spectacular food. We chose this restaurant based on the reviews from previous diners. As we were planning on staying overnight in Dumas, we wanted a good lunch before checking into our motel. We were met by a very friendly waitress and she was very prompt in getting our drinks to us. Our salads were good and served in a cold salad dish which is a plus. Our meals were served quickly and were tasty. The waitress offered a drink to go which was greatly appreciated. If ever through this area again, we would enjoy stopping by the Roadhouse again. read more

Eat here if you like bread. The appetizers were good, but the bread was super. Can you guess what I loved about the burger? Yep, the buttered grilled bun! Stopped in Dumas for the night on the way home from Colorado and there aren't many choices in Dumas. The front desk gal at Hampton Inn suggested 287 Roadhouse so gave it a try. Little put off by the 10 minute wait as the staff was trying to set up a table for a group of a dozen loudly complaining bikers. What were they complaining about? No smoking section. Eventually they got seated in the sports bar and thankfully we got a table in the dining room. I ordered pork chop, fried okra, mashed potatoes & gravy. Literally the best damn pork chop I've ever had and I've had plenty. Thick, perfectly cooked and seasoned only with butter and salt and pepper. Delicious chunky mashed potatoes with just slightly too thick gravy, but all in all pretty good. But the okra ........ overcooked in the extreme with most of the batter burned off and the okra underneath black and hard as a rock. They also delivered straight from the oven super hot dinner rolls that were exceptional. Waiter was pleasant, efficient, unobtrusive, and timely in his service. In spite of the okra (and I AM picky about my okra) I have to give the place a 4 rather than a 3 because the chop was sooooo outstanding . And you're not going to do better in Dumas! ..... plus the prices are cheap! read more

We stopped here for a late evening meal at the suggestion of a hotel clerk who recommended this as one of two good places in town. We should have tried her other recommendation (K-Bob's). First off, we were off to a bad start with a somewhat unpleasant young woman who seated us in our choice of the sports bar (rather than the dining room). We learned later that she was about to leave for the day and the dining room was definitely closed when we left, so that should not have even been mentioned as an option. The 'sports bar' has several TVs, all of which where tuned to a replay of a football game we had seen two nights earlier. Surely there must have been a baseball game, or something live going on. Everything about the place seemed old, in addition to the TV show. Dingy and not quite clean, although perhaps it was. Menus were ragged. Most menu items are heavy on calories and fat. Not much to choose from. We were asked if we wanted something to drink. OK. A beer. Well, that meant we had to 'join' the club ($3 for a 3 day temporary pass or $50 for the year). We apparently were in a dry part of TX. I ordered a chicken salad - so heavy on extra mayo that I couldn't eat it all. My stomach was upset later as well. The mixed fries (of regular and sweet potato) were not very good. His Philly cheese steak was a serious disappointment. Oh, the service was not the best. The waitress was rushed and also seemed markedly more interested in us once we finally relented and agreed to pay the $3 to join the club so that we could order a beer. When we first told her that we would not join, she ignored us for way too long. If we are ever in the area again, we will make it a point to avoid a return to this restaurant. read more

I was not impressed with the service time, and I had to ask for my tea to be refilled. The flavors of the food are good, the menu is typical road house, you will get full with whatever you order -- try the chicken fried steak! Its a slab of heart attack with good voluminous sides. If you are on a diet -- and I would wonder why someone on a diet would eat here -- go somewhere else like Subway across the street. read more

The hostesses were very flustered by groups from a kids' sports tournament arriving after us, and we got lost in the shuffle for roughly 5 minutes as we stood in a humid entryway. Based on the other reviews, the seating and ordering process here needs improvement - not an impressive start. Order-to-delivery time was 25 minutes. Not terrible given the crowd. The pork chop was above average, but I would probably try something else next time with more flavor. Both the grilled jalapeños and mixed vegetables were good choices for sides, and cooked well.
