We went on a Saturday afternoon and had to wait almost an hour for a table. It was pretty loud and crowded. We ordered the zucchini sticks, a patty melt and a club sandwich. All three were really good. The serving sizes were large. The service was good our waitress was very busy but checked on us throughout our meal. I was in on a Thursday night; big crowd and I sat at the bar. First let me say that your staff is excellent. Obviously well trained, hard working and seemed to enjoy their jobs. Service was prompt and responsive. I ordered the chicken fried chicken which was truly awful. The taste was okay, but the amount of breading was astounding. Easily 80% breading and 20% chicken. You need to remove this from the menu or order it from another vender. You need to have chicken fried chicken on the menu but get rid of this one. read more

Sat at the the bar and Kaitlyn was awesome! I have to say they had the the best oysters in TX and the best bartender with the best attitude. In addition to the regular offerings of soft drinks, tea, and draft beer, they have a big assortment of local and regional brews. My husband and I ate at Hummers last night. It was one of our "go to" places when we lived in Amarillo 13 years ago. The place hasn't lost anything. The decor is pretty much the same with a few changes, friendly hard working staff and wonderful food. The BLT I had was great and Texas style. We drop in every time we are in the area. This was a cute little place and I loved it! Hit the spot! We were able to have a nice lunch and watch the games. Staff was doing the right thing and abiding by provisions by wearing masks and washing hands. The only suggestion I would have is to have some more dessert on the menu other than ice cream stuff! I heard about Hummer's Sports Cafe from an online compilation of great college sports bars. Ironically, Hummer's is located in Amarillo, which is not home to any notable sports colleges. However, in Texas, football reigns supreme and it is not hard to envision crowds coming in droves on a Saturday afternoon. I happened to come upon Hummer's with my mom as we were making our cross-country trip to Los Angeles. Upon looking at my trusty Food Places guide on Google Maps, we pulled off I-40 in Amarillo. Being a weekday afternoon, this Texas joint was not super crowded. However, there were still a few locals grabbing lunch. The prices were great, as we paid only 28 cents for any type of beer (offer only stands for first beer though) and the food was cheap. My mom got a good-sized bowl of chili and I got an order of wings. I found the chili to be the highlight of the meal, as it was a truly delicious Texas chili. The wings, on the other hand, were not my favorite. The sauce was okay, but the meat was just not that tasty, and the breading did little to help. However, it should be noted that my mom enjoyed the wings, so clearly it is just a matter of opinion. Plenty of TV's and a little bit of a Western atmosphere helped make the ambiance pretty enjoyable. I could easily see why it was a college football hangout. The Texas Panhandle was not quite my scene, but for a drive through, Hummer's is worth a stop. read more

Service was good. We were seated immediately and our server kept drinks filled and checked on us several times. The food was pretty average. We ordered the club sandwich and the BLT and split each half and half with O-rings and fries. It was a huge amount of food. The BLT is served with melted cheese and somehow the lettuce ended up being warm, which was pretty strange. The club sandwich was very run-of-the-mill, definitely not the best or worst one I have had. The fried were fairly good, but they're thin cut so they don't stay crisp, and the O-rings "seemed" like the prepackaged frozen type. I couldn't swear by that but they're right on par with the onion rings at Sonic, for example. We always come back to Hummer's because the food is always on point, but the sandwiches this time were just so plain. Sticking to the burgers and steak bites from now on! read more

Soiling them with remnants and fluids, before stepping up to the sink and wash his hands. Unless he washes his hands before pulling up his pants, who knows * Then he walks through the restaurant adjusting his waist as well as that pretty, and colorful shirt (smearing what ever it might be on his hands back and forth around his waist) until he reaches the kitchen. * Then I watch as he proceeds to touch everyones food without putting on gloves. Service is generally okay, but can be a bit inconsistent--we've had the occasional waitress forget about us, eventually bringing the check without offering a second round. Don't go here if you live out of state. Went out for food and drinks with a few friends who aren't from Texas. We ordered drinks and about 5 minutes later the manger comes out and asks for all of the IDs of the people who are from out of state. No problem, we understand that people often make fake IDs and had no issue with her asking for them. She then comes back and says that she won't serve them drinks because they don't match the "book of IDs" she has. We asked if she had a scanner because everyone had real IDs and were well over 21. She proceed to rudely say that it's up to her discretion and she would not serve them. We would have left if we hadn't already ordered food. This was literally so ridiculous and the mangers ugly attitude was the icing on the cake. Don't recommend. read more

The atmosphere is a local divey sports bar. They have tons of TVs including several 50 inchers and a giant projector screen. Large beer selection with decent prices. I can't speak for all the food, but some Hummer's regulars told me I really had to get the brisket quesadillas with Au Juis sauce. It did not disappoint. The owner and the staff are great and have a very good repoire with the customers- i.e. tact etc. Much more comfortable for professional get togethers than say "Hooters" etc where frequently you will find screaming children. Great place for quick after work beer and maybe a bite too. A wide selection of bottled beer including many foreign choices (ask about the 51 beer club). The food is tasty. You have to get the fried mushrooms for a starter though, the set the perfect mood for this suped up sports bar. The burgers are good, but I prefer their sandwiches. The Hobo sandwich is a must: brisket, peppers, onions, and mushrooms on a hoagie tool topped with cheese, It's the major league version of a Philly.
