My wife and I found 287 Roadhouse on Yelp as we were driving through Dumas from Dallas. The food was good and the service was even better. The place was packed which is always a good sign when you are going to a new restaurant. The menu had many selections from sports bar fare to southern comfort food. If you want an alcoholic beverage, you have to buy a temporary club membership for $3 since Dumas is dry, and only one person in your party has to buy it for the rest to drink. We definitely recommend this place for dinner and drinks. read more

Avoid this stinker. We stopped in here for lunch on the way to colorado with a party of 9. While the staff were plesant the food was well below average with cold fries and grease soaked hamburger buns. The bathrooms where absolutely disgusting. Urine all over the floor, flies everywhere and strong foul odor. We will not be back. read more

Me and my girlfriend walked in and we were immediately greeted and given a seat. We ordered drinks and food. While we waited for our food, we were served rolls, and let me tell you, they were the best rolls I've ever had. I ate those bad boys so heckin' fast. The food was also amazing. We were in town for a week and wanted to find something tasty. Needless to say this would not be my first choice next time I am here. My husband and I both got the regular 8oz sirloin cooked medium. This place seems to be the only restaurant that serves Mexican food and is open after 2 pm. They were busy (on a Saturday night at 7 pm), so we ate at the bar. Chicken quesadillas were very good, and my wife thought the chopped steak with wild rice was very good. It took a minute or two for the hostess to appear, and probably 4-5 minutes for our waitress to take our drink order, but she was totally there for us, the rest of the evening. I love this place when I'm in town (as a truck driver waiting for a load to be ready)! Had a steak, a skewer of shrimp on a bed of rice, a side salad, chicken noodle soup, a nice margarita on the rocks, and pineapple upside down cake drink as well. All came out perfectly. The roadhouse magarita was excellent. ($9.00) The Mahi Dish ( can't remember the name but it was the one with the white sauce, mushrooms and spinach) was excellent. Lasagna was good but over priced. We joked that we could have bought a family size Stouffers for the same price. Albeit it tasted better than Stouffers. Wait staff was attentive and host wished us well as we walked back to our hotel across the street. Food is good. But employees here really don't care about wearing a mask even though it's mandated by the state and the place is hopping busy on a Friday night. Hostess and one server wearing a mask. Bartender and wandering manager had no mask in sight. One server properly masked and the rest of the servers have theirs pulled down under nose or even chin. Pretty sad. We ate at the Roadhouse recently and I was disappointed. Maybe because I remember it when my parents would take me there when I would visit them. But that was over 8 years ago. It use to be much bigger and now it seems to be mainly a bar. The hamburger I had was good and the service was also. I just feel there are better places to eat in Dumas. read more

Very disappointed tonight. We have been to this restaurant many many times with the family and have always sat in the sports bar. Tonight there was a belligerent male and female talking loudly using the f word frequently. Yes, I know it's a sports bar, but when the entire restaurant can hear you, the manager should ask them to take it down a notch. After about the 10th one, I asked him to please stop myself. That went over really well. A manager then came to their table and basically agreed with them along with another waitress in the area stating that it is a sports bar and that if we didn't like it, we should've sat in the family dining. Again, we have never experienced this within this local establishment and the way that it was handled by management, was very poor to say the least. The food itself wasn't much better last night. Ok. We are passing through and looking for a place that wasn't Mexican or Italian. This place was right across the highway from our hotel. Thursday night and there are a lot of cars there so we decided to give it a tr y. We were seated in the bar area which is pretty loud. Our waitress, Sierra, was there almost immediately. First problem was our table that rocked terribly. She did everything she could to make it stable and ended up clearing another table so that we could move. We placed our order; then my salad was delivered before the appetizer we had ordered. As soon as the appetizer came my entree was delivered. I should say the app was an order of raw oysters which take a while to eat. Meanwhile the entree sat on the table. When I finally got to it it was dry and tough (it was grilled pork loin). Sierra came to the table and asked how the food was and I told her about the entree. She immediately said she'd have it taken off our bill, asked if she could bring me something else, and took it away when I said no thanks. She repeatedly came back and asked if the manager had come to our table to talk to us which he never did. I have nothing but commendation for the server but the management needs some help! Don't know about what's available in Dumas but personally I'd avoid this place unless the management ups their game. Apparently this is not the first negative comment about management! read more

Worst steakhouse I've been to. Couldn't get my steak cooked right. I asked for "well done" after 2 times being brought back to the kitchen, they still had rare parts on it. The waitress says well I heard medium well... We'll I'm telling you I asked for well done. Customer service was bad too. Never will come back here again. The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because I've become a regular because there's no where all that great to eat in the town. Want a ribeye? Move along. I've had around 10 here and I'd say all but 2 were were over cooked, chewy and stringy. I'd say this is in the top two of worst steaks I've had with the one from ihop coming in as a close contender. The appetizer menu is pretty basic for a sports bar. Fry up the frozen foods and call it good. Don't get the Mac and cheese unless you like way over cooked, dry and bland pasta with God knows what cheese. Surprisingly the frozen fish has been the big winner at this place. I ate here once in 2017 and had a green chile cheeseburger. It was good. But I ate there again yesterday (June 2018) and everything was amazing. I had chips with homemade green chile salsa, Poblano Corn Chowder, a Ribeye (medium rare) with sweet potato fries. Everything was awesome, but the chowder and the steak were superb. Well, I knew it was going to be a tough experience from the very get-go. The waitress didn't even know what brands of whiskey they had, and that's just the beginning. We ordered our drinks and asked for the TV to be changed to the playoff game that was currently happening. Got our drinks, and then waited another 25 min for a channel flip. The drinks were below par, to say the least, and my friend didn't even finish his first Margarita it was that disgusting. Went here in January 2013. They sat us in the back banquet room that was at least 15 degrees colder than the (still mostly empty) main dining room. We ended up wearing jackets during dinner. When we got our bill, they charged us $1.25 for each of 5 kid waters. When we brought this to their attention, they said they "have to charge for the cups." As for the comments about the $50 membership or $3.00 daily fee to order alcohol -That was city ordinance, not a choice of the restaurant, and citizens finally got the issue on the ballot and voted it away! This place may be the priciest in town, but you get what you pay for! If you can't afford a good steak house, McDonald's and Taco Bell are down the street. If you can afford a steakhouse this place won't disappoint! I recommend Mama's Bird.... chicken breast topped with BBQ sauce, cheese, and bacon. The homemade chips cannot be beat. Went here based on yelp reviews and was not disappointed. The first time I had steak pieces, basically sirloin tips grilled with onions, mushrooms, and peppers, portions are huge, my co-worker ordered the chicken fried steak and it covered the plate. We ate here in July 2014. This is a popular local restaurant. It was amazingly average. The food was average, but perhaps a little over priced compared to similar places. The server was pretty awful. It seemed like she had probably just started doing this type of work. I would probably find something else next time I spend a night in Dumas. read more
